Hmm, it looks like that’s Freddie’s shoulder on the right there, he’s standing in front of John. So it’s Freddie, not John, wearing the flower jacket in this last photo. John has donned his trusty white suit again. Maybe he just wasn’t keen on the florals or there just isn’t photo evidence of him wearing the travelling jacket 😝😊

John wearing a Puma sweatsuit in March 1984 in Japan on the promo tour for “The Works”.
You can see that jacket in the black and white photos ON Roger in the last photo. He also wears it when Crystal is wearing the Puma sweatshirt.
Freddie and Massimo Bonelli in Milan in September 1984. Queen still on tour promoting “The Works”, Bonelli had arranged a press conference in a garden and it was rainy out. (You’ll need to translate the article in your browser but it’s a fun read)
Freddie at Garden Lodge with Jim in 1986. Freddie still lived in Munich but sent Jim an invite to live at Garden Lodge before he got there because he accidentally got Jim kicked out of his boarding flat. Fred was ringing in at all hours and the landlady didn’t like it and kicked Jim out (as says Jim in his book, “Mercury and Me”, I haven’t a link to the exact excerpt though, soz). The two hadn’t been dating long yet.
And there you have it!! The blue Puma sweats!
I’m fully convinced John and Crystal wore this once or twice in Japan and then Freddie “It’s free real estate"d it and had had it ever since.
I think it was Ratty or Phoebe who said that in the 80s they used to buy clothes in bulks so it’s possible that they had multiple of the same sweatshirts and jackets to divide among the crew. So while in the 70s they definitely shared the same items, in the 80s they had duplicates and it’s unlikely they shared the same one.
Seeing the guys all sharing clothes makes me insanely happy for some reason.

So, if you love Freddie, be always aware that you love a romantic gay Parsi boy who has always seeked stable love and comfort in a time where it was only a mirage for gay men, and always tried to be himself with pride.

I was unsure of which one of her two prompts to use, so I went and mixed their outfits! As John carries Veronica through his serenade, their outfits magically transform in a whirlwind of colors 🥰💖💕💜💖💕💜 The pose is inspired by Howl's Moving Castle and the iconic scene with Howl making Sophie fly above the city 💖

Holy cannoli, what a gorgeous ending to this story. Quite honestly, I was teary eyed at the first paragraph, and full on crying at the end. I especially love how you took us full circle, through the years, the joys, hardships of life and marriage, and brought us back to Russia. Because no matter who we are today, the ghost of who we were always walks with us. And you worked in Live Aid! And Wallis! I wondered if we’d see her. This whole chapter is just so delicately woven together. It was just a joy to read. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I’ve dreamed about my family more times than I could count since leaving Tobolsk, and after I learned of their murders I dreamed of nothing at all; but tonight I’m not sure what my dreams are made of. There’s water, or rather the sound of water, immense and roaring against steel. There’s my palm gliding over a metal railing with flaking paint. There are pulsing, anonymous crowds pushing me down cobblestone streets. There are gardens full of plants I’ve never seen before, and an old woman’s voice tells me their names: eastern redbuds, blue mistflowers, scarlet beebalms, Carolina springbeauties, cinnamon ferns. There’s something sweet and ice-cold and strangely biting washing over my tongue. There are flashing bulbs of light that make the stars invisible.
Oh man. This is so beautifully written. So melancholy, all the feels. Just so gorgeous. I do think she might have made these realizations before we got to Buckingham, it sure would have been easier. For a minute I wasn’t sure the king was going to let them leave. But now they can sell the jewels and run away together and start a cannoli business with Joe. But will it be that easy? I love these two goobers and their sidekick, Joe. I want them all to be happy. Ooh, maybe now they can visit Australia one day!
