We are! Sorry for the lack of updates recently. We are working on a site update that should be ready in the next few days, and once that's out the mobile app will be ready for wide use! :)

Pillowfort Community Survey + $25 Pillowfort Premium Drawing!

Hi Pillowfolks!

We need your feedback to shape Pillowfort's future. Help us choose what to build next, give feedback on existing features, and more! As a reminder: We have used previous survey responses to guide our development decisions. Your feedback matters to us.

We're also holding a drawing. 3 winners will be randomly selected to received $25 in Pillowfort Premium credit. You must follow the instructions in the survey to be entered in to the drawing. Winners will be randomly selected and notified no later than April 28, 2025. Note: We will only use your e-mail address to notify you if you win. After winners are selected, all e-mails received for the raffle will be discarded from our records.

SURVEY CLOSES APRIL 8, 2025 11:00AM ET.

"Why should I join Pillowfort? It's so niche. You aren't Facebook or Twitter." Yes, that's the point: We aren't Facebook or Twitter. We're Pillowfort. We're proud to be niche. Our community is great.

My friends won't use Pillowfort because you do not have push/desktop/real-time notifications or a functional mobile/web app. Delegating it to e-mail removes an entire level of privacy. Most the time the notification dashboard does not even work. These have been talked about for years and years. You are trying to farm for money right now because you are failing to raise enough to cover your monthly, and taking advantage of the terror in the queer community to do so. I would love nothing more than for you to be successful, but you would have had to have listened to numerous people in my family and circle in the years prior to do so. The way you went from communicative and approachable with certain people I know to ghosting them and ignoring them the moment you betrayed them and left them for dead was all I and those who know me needed to see to give up on you. Get better. For everyone.

Hi there! Thank you for the feedback. 1. We have and never will capitalize on the fear of marginalized communities, especially right now. We do have to remind folks of our funding goals because unfortunately in order to keep our platform online and to compensate our Staff it takes money to do that. We don't have venture capital and we do not have an angel investor. 11 out of 12 months we met our funding goal in 2024 and that also includes a funding goal increase during the later part of 2024. 2. We have been providing regular updates on the progressive web app since opening up our Pillowfort Dev Blog over a year and a half ago. 3. In regards to the notifications bug reports, we have stated in various updates on the PWA that the notification bugs will be fixed with the PWA. We are rebuilding notifications entirely to allow for push notifications with the PWA. We always aim to do better for our community. We are doing the very best with the limited resources and the dedication of our hardworking team.

Going forward it will be more important than ever for those of us who are anti-fascist and anti-bigotry to band together. Pillowfort is a social media platform that is pro-LGBT, pro-NSFW, and notably not owned by a megalomaniacal MAGA billionaire. Learn more at the link above.

DEV BLOG: January 2025

Hey all! Just a small update for you. We are still working to get the PWA/mobile app ready ASAP! We're continuing to polish some rough edges and making sure there are no major issues. I actually ran into a pretty confounding bug a few days ago; once in a while in software dev you run into a bug that makes you feel like you're losing your mind, because the way the bug is behaving defies your understanding of how your own project should even work, and this was one of those bugs. It took me two days to even figure out what was causing it, but I finally did, so now I have to figure out how to fix it! Hopefully it will not take too long, and once that's done we'll be just about ready to launch. Thank you as always for your patience as we've been working on this!

Best, Julia

Site Update - 10/16/2024

Hello Pillowfolks!

We hope you are safe and well. Our Developer Team has released a new update to the platform. We will be monitoring closely for any new bugs, so please let us know if you run into any.

Thank you again for your support! Our next major update will include the release of the Progressive Web App!  Be on the lookout for our next Dev Blog for info about our progress.

Have a great week!

New Features / Improvements

*NEW* Community Pinned Tags  -  Community Moderators can now designate specific tags to be pinned at the top of a Community for easy navigation through that Community’s posts. For example, one could organize a fandom story-writing community where posts are grouped by “prompts” and “fills”... just thinking out loud 👀

*NEW* Collapse/Expand Comments -  The days of endlessly scrolling through long comment threads are over. Comments now feature new buttons to collapse all the replies to a comment for easier navigation. You can also click on a new button to easily take you back up to the ‘root’ comment from any reply.

New Premium Frames - We have added the following premium frames, designed by our Community Manager, Midnight:

  • 90s - Booyah! We’ve added a 90’s-inspired frame that is the bomb dot com.
  • Cottage Core - Midnight wanted to flee the crushing pressure of society and disappear into the woods to befriend mushroom fairies, but alas, they can’t. So they made this frame instead.
  • Rainy Day - It’s giving *whimsical weather.*

Reblog to Community Citations - When users view a post and click on the list of reblogs for that post, the list will now note what community a reblog was submitted to if applicable.

Donation Page Verbiage - We’ve improved the verbiage on the Donation Page (now the Funding Page) to help clear up confusion regarding fundraising on Pillowfort.

Bug Fixes

Deleting Blocked User Comments - We’ve fixed a bug where users were unable to see or delete comments from blocked users on their own posts.

Post Scheduling Fixes - Fixed an issue where editing the publishing time on an already-scheduled post caused the post to fail to publish. (We are still investigating the other issues with the queue, so please continue to provide us any details you can about the queue bugs you’ve been encountering.)

Reblog Count Inaccuracy - We’ve fixed an error where deleting a reblog caused an inaccurate reblog count on the original post.

Our developers are preparing to push a an update to Pillowfort this evening. There may be intermittent downtime until the rollout of is finished. We will update you all when the update is done!
