As a general rule of thumb any stone/mineral ending in “-ite” (ex. selenite, malachite, fluorite) is a softer stone that A.Should not be exposed to water. And B.Can be damaged more easily in general. I’m sure there are exceptions and I encourage you to do your own research but I hope this is helpful ✌️

I think astrology is 10/10 stupid. Fun, but useless and innacurate. Some witches are secular. Others might look at crystals and just see glorified rocks. Maybe you believe in energies but not spirits.
Blindly embracing something that doesn’t feel right to you just because someone else cares about it a whole lot is for other religions and practices out there. Witchcraft is all about self, my dude.

I’ve had people give me the worst shit for being a spirit worker and not believing in possession.
I also don’t believe in chakras or ‘energy centers’ as more culturally open appropriate term is.
The City Dionysia is a yearly festival in honour of Dionysos, Lord of Wine and Theatre. In ancient Athens, it was celebrated with a theatrical competition. This blog serves to bring this competition into a modern scope by allowing Hellenic polytheists to submit their own literary pieces in honour of Dionysos, to be judged by the mob.
The ancient festival featured tragedies, comedies, and satyr plays; our modern competition is a little different. The categories for submissions are the following:
- Retellings of Classic myths - Original myths - Poetry
Submissions will be open from March 1st 2019 to April 7th 2019, allowing a bit over a month to write and submit your piece.
Voting will take place from April 8th to April 14th. Winners will be announced on April 15th.
Currently there are no prizes for winning, the competition only aims to be a fun way to bring the City Dionysia to life as a communal event for modern worshippers.
Rules for submissions:
- Roleplay and fanfic are not allowed in submissions. This is a religious festival, please respect our faith and do not submit an entry if you are roleplaying or writing fanfiction. - Submissions do not need to revolve specifically around Dionysos, but they must be written in honour of the Hellenic pantheon. - All stories, myths, and poems must be entered using the submissions button. - All entries must be tagged for the category they are being submitted to. - Entries must also be tagged for potentially triggering content and squicks. - An entry may only be submitted to a single category. - Each person may only submit one entry per category each year. - Winners for each category will be decided by popular vote.
The City Dionysia competition was started in 2017 and continued in 2018 thanks to the dedication of Lizzie/@pomegranateandivy. The original blog, along with previous submissions, can be found at @city-dionysia-competition. Since Lizzie is no longer able to organise the competition, it has been independently taken up by @sisterofiris in the spirit of previous editions.

Here’s some stuff I recently reworked!! I’m going through a pink phase
I am going to continue on the safety aspect of practicing your faith, beliefs, or craft, outdoors within Nature.
If you happen to live in an area with predatory wildlife, such as Bear, Cougar, Wolves, some snakes and such, be mindful of your surroundings at all times. Just because you are there with good intentions, the wildlife may see it as an easy meal or an invasion on their territory. When out in the Forest or Mountains or any habitat other then your home, you are a visitor. Respect the lives and the environment that you are in, and only leave footprints when you leave.
Always carry protection when in a predators habitat, like Bear spray. A creature shouldn’t have to die because of a persons bad decision. Make sure you are clean from any scent, this means don’t venture in Bear territory smelling of fish or jerky, make sure you are neutral.
If you happen to see some of the Wildlife, don’t engage it, let them go about their business, remember that you are in their home, respect is everything.
Always let someone know where you are going, and a return time. This includes Urban settings. In case something happens someone would be able to notify authorities of your location.
To be fully prepared when practicing outdoors, educate yourself on the hazards of the environment that you are going in, knowledge is your greatest safety tool.
I have yet to see any posts for the younger generations on outdoor practices and safety. We have to look out for each other regardless of beliefs and practices. This is a community where it takes a village to raise a child.

Candle magic is an ancient art and it is the most widely used magic practiced today. The candle itself is a very powerful magical tool it contains all the basic elements earth, wind, fire and water, earth is represented in the wax, water the melted wax, the flame fire and the air is the smoke. The colour of the candles is very important as the different colours will bring with it its own energy and power, green for healing, red for empowerment etc. Each of the elements has with it its own single coloured candle, green for earth, yellow for air, blue is for water and red is for fire. The different colours also represent either a yin female or yang male energy, yellow is yin, green is yang, blue is yin and red is yang.
A candle is believed to have its own vibration and can be used in meditation and divination, pink or violet is a calm and soft light where as red is strong and powerful, when a candle is lit its colour is released into the surrounding area which will bring a nice energy into the room. If during your ritual you need a lot of power, light multiple candles. By rubbing oil over a candle before your ritual this will charge the candle with your own personal energy.
