Being trans is based and cool! Having trans headcanons about characters is based and cool! Trying to Game Theory real actual people's gender identities and whether or not they're secretly trans or eggs is extremely shitty and uncool! Don't do that!!!

It is unfortunately hard to talk about due to how easily transphobic arguments can be slotted into the topic, but there is a type of person who will continuously try to "trans" their friends and the people they like, spamming their inboxes with stuff like "transes you gently" or imposing gender signifiers on their friends in settings where they can't speak about it without coming off as bigoted. This is not a major enough issue to pretend it reflects on the trans community as a whole, and anyone who does is leveraging a legitimate issue to heighten a bigoted agenda, but it is a genuine form of harassment that shouldn't be written off.

I was unfortunate enough to know someone like this and it was awful. She kept trying to "jokingly" force femme our cis male friends, and was incapable of not bringing her fetish into every setting. Even during a BLM stream hosted by a friend, when she was explicitly asked to not make sexual jokes because of how tone deaf it would be to do so, she couldn't help herself. She's not bad because she was trans, or that she had a bimbofication fetish, but because she would repeatedly impose this fetish on others even in situations where it wasn't even close to appropriate.

This is an extreme case, and most of the people imposing trans headcanons on real people probably aren't like that, they probably just want to see themselves and their experiences in people they have or feel they have relationships with. But that isn't fair to the person you're imposing this on. At best you're just forcing them to feel less comfortable with themselves, and at worst you're correct about them and are forcing them to come out before they're ready. There is no good outcome to making assumptions about people's identities and imposing these assumptions on them, and if you truly care about them you wouldn't be treating them like a puzzle you need to solve, you'd treat them like a person.
