The Runekeeper's Hymnal

@runekeepershymnal / runekeepershymnal.tumblr.com

I am an Old (older than that, no, older than that), agender/NB set of signals and electrical impusles, and I am not interested in anyone's opinions regarding either. This is an LGBTQA+ blog. They/She/He all work, and RK is the general moniker. I am anti-censorship, and, (and I hate that I have to say this) being anti-censorship does not mean that I am a fan of everything anyone ever posts ever. If you try to frame this as "pro-shipper/anti" discourse, I will block you. If that means you feel like you need to block me, you do you. Contents: Myriad fandoms and fanwriting, general low-fantasy escapism, magic, trying to be soft when it's not easy, etc. I block who I need to. I don't post much that's NSFW, but this is an 18+ place. If you think it is acceptable to send death threats, tell people to kill themselves, or engage in harrassment campaigns, you will be blocked.  Fanmix sideblog = radio-free-runekeeper.

this is for all the gay trans men: there are gay/bi/pan/queer men who will be attracted to you. there are probably queer men who are attracted to you right now. i know the gay community might feel hostile towards us, but there are those who will see you as a real man and find you attractive. trans AND cis. and those who are kind of in between. you are wonderful, you are beautiful, you are attractive and you're infinitely worthy of love. don't give up on yourself.

to all the people in the tags expressing their love and attraction to trans men and trans mascs: thank you so much, i love you and it means the world.

i'm reblogging this again in hopes of making it circulate again because i've been recently told by a dear friend that gay men couldn't be attracted to trans men. it hurt me to the core. i explained to him how he was wrong, he admitted he was wrong and he apologized and we talked it out already (though i'm still angry, but that's between me and him) so i don't want to hear anyone hating on him, but it would be nice to hear some nice words because it did affect me.

i'm currently tearing up reading all the tags, replies and reblogs. to all the people that had something nice to say, THANK YOU. thank you for loving us, thank you for supporting us. this gives me and other trans men so much hope and comfort. you're amazing. let's keep building this community, let's keep being united and loving to all kinds of people.

I think detaching disgust from morality is one of the keys to Chilling Out. You can find inner peace by being able to go "hm! Gross" and recognize if it's an actual problem or not. Cause if it's not an actual problem... it's not your problem 🙏 god bless

Every callout post that's like "she jacks off to Weird Porn! Isn't that gross? Don't you hate it?" I mean maybe but I have the same reaction to sour cream. Personally I'm in the habit of using my brain to determine if something is ethical/moral/etc or not instead of just my first knee jerk reaction, like, "is this actively harmful to anyone involved" is a more useful question than "do I personally think it's gross"

Also if you find yourself doing mental gymnastics to explain why something could hypothetically be harmful, potentially, under the right circumstances, it's probably Just Gross. Especially if the scenario you crafted involves a secret third party besides the Consenting Adults involved ??? You are making up a guy to be mad at, my friend

I’m gonna say it.

It’s unhinged to assume that someone’s taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.

That is a bonkers assumption to make.

I’m tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.

I’m tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold– that they should be afraid of fiction’s dire influence on a reader’s moral decay or that it’s a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

I promise you it is still getting me death threats in 2024.

I'm losing my mind at how they make a harry styles fanfiction adaption every three months and we're supposed to pretend like it's normal meanwhile the white boys of Hollywood are wearing and passing around Harry's skin like it's the sisterhood of the travelling twink I can't take this

like what was happening in the 2013 one direction era that it has evolved into some historical and cultural touchstone almost akin to mythos. why are they adapting one direction history like it's the fucking Cleopatra story.

Our personal phones are like dæmons in Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials universe: it's horrendously taboo to touch someone else's phone unless you are lovers, and it feels particularly egregious to touch a stranger's phone (even with permission, it just feels uncomfortable).

But when I'm staying in a hostel and another guest has an alarm go off at 5-something in the morning with the same melody repeating itself for like 20 minutes while the phone's owner is presumably out of the room, the idea starts to become a lot more enticing.

the odd time that it becomes acceptable is "would you like me to take a picture of you both" or "do you want to be in the picture as well? I can take it for you." which is pretty appropriate, given that those are times of a kindness of a stranger, helping someone to remember a time when they were with the people they love.

Stop putting DNI on your tags and stop bringing shipping discourse into AO3

AO3 hid the story and asked OP to remove the tag (the fanfic is not even removed) due to the inflammatory tag. That's deserved. AO3 is not a social media for people to fight over ship and chronically online discourse. It's a library. If people keep bringing DNI and discourse into AO3 it'll make the place toxic for writers and reader.

What are you trying to accomplish with putting DNI? Do you think people actually care about DNI? No, it's just making you looking like an asshole doing this

Also AO3 was founded by a Wincest and Thorki shipper. Astolat made AO3 because FF net and other sites keep purging nsfw fanfic. AO3 is literally made for problematique shipper that op don't like.

Then OP doing this? For what? People want to enjoy reading their fanfic not seeing DNI and online discourse on AO3. I hate using the word virtue signaling as it's often used to demean progress but this is what a real virtue signaling looks like 🤦🤦‍♀️

(I bet op wrote more inflammatory tags on their fic other than 'proshitter DNI get a life' because it take a lot to get your story hidden or removed)

Louder for the people in the back.

AO3 IS A PROSHIP SPACE

If you don't want to see pro shipping stuff then don't go into proship spaces.

If only there were some robust system in place to let you tag what your story IS and then a robust search function to allow other people who want your content to find it more easily while not having to interact with content they don't have an interest in.

If only.

You put a book in a library and tried to say some people couldn't have it. That's not how a library works.

AO3 is for all the freaky little weirdos who got kicked out of everywhere else. You don't get to come in and bitch about the wallpaper.

Take your "ewww shipping" fuckshittery and build your own fucking website. You can even use AO3's code if you want.

They make it openly available to anyone. For free. No questions. No qualifiers. No moral superiority wank.

You don't like how AO3 runs shit? Run your own shit.

You know what I hate about the internet? Sometimes people will just lazily slap a “citation” on an infographic and trust that they’ll be completely taken at their word and nobody is going to dig deeper. And it works all the time. As an example, please look at this photo someone posted to dispute my assertion that garlic can be toxic to dogs.

Okay well, kind of a pain to manually type in that link but obviously I am going to look into this study that is confident enough to recommend people feeding their dogs garlic. So here’s the article, kind of a weird journal choice for this graphic to reference from but looks like a legit (though 20 year old) study

Funny thing is, almost immediately this article acknowledges that garlic can indeed be toxic to dogs. The health benefits mentioned in the graphic are referring to human health, not canine. This section is literally in the introduction of the article and one of the first things you read. Emphasis here is mine.

Crazy to me that someone would imply that this article encourages giving dogs garlic when it in fact immediately asserts that doing so has the potential to cause hemolytic anemia. The article does explore the anti-thrombotic effects of garlic components in dogs and humans, but by no means does it say that “contrary to misconceptions garlic is safe for pets”. It is dishonest to assert this in an infographic. However the creator of the image correctly assumed nobody would check, because the person who posted it took it as fact without further investigation.

I am begging you to be skeptical. Check your sources. Check their sources. Check my sources. Learn how to dig deeper and exercise that muscle as much as you can, especially on the internet. You will be absolutely shocked how much misinformation is casually stated and received as pure fact.

Gambit in his little pink crop top >>>>

The man is risking his tummy by deep frying in his completely period-appropriate crop top and some people out there have the audacity to complain about it! (Not OP obviously, thank you for your service of these screen caps.)

The man. Is making. Beignets. FROM SCRATCH. And look how happy he is! How could anyone deny Gambit the chance to live his best life as Rogue’s marvelous malewife in slutty armor? Why do they hate joy?
