Things people with Social Anxiety do
•go to the bathroom to escape
•feel very uncomfortable without a phone or some other crutch
•dwell on a small awkward moment for much longer than necessary
•never go to any social event without a person that makes you feel comfortable
•follow said person way too much
•worry about the person beginning to find you obnoxious
•faking an illness to get out of a social event
•Dont buy something necessary because the cashier is intimidating.
Blake shrugged off the apology, waving down the bartender for a drink instead. “I’m always right,” she informed him–what was his name? Gordon?–cocking an eyebrow. The fake attitude felt good. Felt like how she usually was, rather than this weird no-man’s-land of emotion, where she was now. “Glad I could solve your problem. Got anything else for me?” The words were heavy with sarcasm, though she did shoot him a semi-sincere smile. Picking apart this guy’s life would distract from her own.
“That’s, uh. Useful.” Sure. Sure it was, Gabriel, he snarked in his mind, resisting the urge to plant his face against a wall repeatedly. Talk about small talk. This was why he didn’t put much stock in his own abilities to socialize. If he noticed her sarcasm - his problem not solved, exactly, unless he followed through on her advice, and he wasn’t likely to do that - he didn’t comment, instead studying her curiously. “I, uh, before I start on my life story, do you have a name?”
La La Land (2016) dir. Damien Chazelle
