Wait no hang on I've decided pisces doesn't work for Nessie so I'm going with Aries sun, scorpio rising. I'm going with March 23rd for her birthday. Also I've decided Alyssa is a scorpio moon.

I desperately wanted Nessie to be a winter baby but it was not to be.

Happy birthday Nessie you're a winter bitch in my heart

i can't express enough how much i love missy and malakai, their friendship and how they just get each other on such a deep level. how their aboriginality is expressed in how they dress and decorate their spaces (malakai often wears mob-owned brands, missy has an "always was always will be" sticker on her car and her hair tie during the footy game is black, red and yellow). how cheeky and playful they are with each other. how apparent it is when they're in scenes by themselves that they code-switch when talking to their non-aboriginal friends.

Teach your children how to deal with emotions in a constructive way. I wish I had done this with my children.

When you tell your kids that they can talk to you about anything, carry through. Because if you say that and then don’t follow through on your word, they’re NEVER going to forget it.

Never.

[Image Description: A thread of tweets by Chawanna (@DrChaeEd). The tweets read: I noticed that my 6-yo was being a lil rude/curt w/me, so I asked her what was up. At first, she just looked at me, so I reiterated that I can't help her if I don't know what's wrong. Then I asked, "Why are you being unkind to me? What happened?" She looked at me and said, "I don't know," and started crying. I told her, "It's okay. Sometimes mommy just doesn't feel happy too. You're not in trouble. I just needed to know how to help." She said, "My brain tells me to be rude." I told her that's sort of how it happens for lots of people. When our emotions aren't happy, sometimes we take it out on others even when they don't deserve it. She asked, "Wait. Your brain does it too?!" I told her yes, and then I asked her if I could teach her something that might help. She said yes, so I told her, "When you aren't quite feeling right but don't want to be mean, you can say, 'I'm not feeling my best self; I need a min." So, we practiced saying that over and over again until she felt better. She gave me a hug and stopped crying. I think about all the ways I could've responded, particularly a power trip bc "I'm the adult," but she needed to process something not even about me. Trying to be slower to projection or anger has really given me an opportunity to coach my children on emotional maturity. Even at 6, she can learn how to challenge her own thoughts. She can learn how her brain works and the best ways to engage w/ others. End ID]

a terf? that's someone who hates men, right? transmisogyny? yeah we experience that too, it's a flavor of misandry I assure you. feminism? it's been good and bad at the same time, I wanna say! too many times it left men behind. patriarchy? yeah it sucks. it's like 5 rich people who force men not to cry and hide their emotions. and oppresses women who are also complicit in it as mothers I guess.

i just saw someone describe a disabled person as "someone with beautiful abilities" i cannot do this anymore

god can we stop softening the term "disabled". disabled isn't a dirty word. it's not "special abilities" or "differently abled" or whatever the fuck you want to call it. people have disabilities that cause life to be hard and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that?? it feels so invalidating when people are like "ohh you're not disabled!!! you have special abilities!!" like. omg a) it feels so infantilizing. b) by saying that you're basically saying our struggles aren't real...? some conditions are disabling. it's not hard to understand?? like there is NOTHING wrong with being disabled & using the word disabled. it's not offensive it's not a dirty word can we take the shame out of it pls oh my god. this goes for physical & non physical disabilities btw
