Why does no one ever talk about the scene in the book where Bill steals his father’s gun and him and Richie go to Neibolt and try to shoot the clown? Like???? Bill is a chaotic dumbass who almost got himself and Richie killed before anything could even happen?????

A few things that I don’t see talked about from the It novel:

- It took Eddie three tries to finally leave his mother.

- While most of the Losers had one primary ‘Fear’, Richie had three (The Paul Bunyan statue, the werewolf, and the giant eyeball).

- Beverly was the closest thing the Losers had to ‘muscle’ and did the most physical damage to It.

- All of the Losers were assholes to each other and said pretty terrible things to each other.

- Stan threw a pie tin in his living room and shattered a window in his home.

- Eddie laughed when Bowers broke his arm because he never felt true pain before and it was sort of exhilarating to finally know what it felt like.

- Mike was incredibly intelligent and knew so much about the history of the town (from his father).

- Mike’s fear stemmed from when his father saw a giant black bird (that was It) during the burning of the Black Spot.

- It was Stan’s idea to clean Beverly’s blood filled bathroom and when they finished he paid to have Beverly’s washcloths cleaned.

- It was also Stan’s idea to do the blood oath.

- At one point Stan gets his hands on fireworks/firecrackers and asks if they can all go to the dump to light them off.

- Eddie had a hero worship type of relationship with Bill and was convinced that every other person saw him in this way too.

- Ben was very handy and helped the other Losers build plenty of things (a dam, an underground fort, etc.).

- Richie was uncomfortable with showing any form of sincere intimacy with another boy if he thought anyone would see him.

- Richie is the reason why Beverly ended up joining the Losers Club.

- Richie and Beverly were the two primary smokers but Bill smoked too occasionally and Ben did once as well.

question: i’ve never read the book and i saw your post about stans ethnicity. i’ve never seen anything about stan not being white before, i guess he was just so whitewashed, but i was wondering if i could inquire more? what race is he? is it mentioned by the losers club?

Hi !!! Sorry about that, I totally did not see your message until now lol. Anywho I’d love to explain a lil more ^^

A lil disclaimer though because I am white, and not religious at all, so this is all from memory of the book, and research I’ve done to answer your question, so if I make any mistakes, please tell me so I can fix them !!

- It was not specifically mentioned by the losers that Stan is not white, from my memory, however it is alluded to in the book. I’m pretty sure it was Eddie who said, before Mike, that Stan was the most bullied out of all of the losers (which we can assume is because of his ethnicity and his religion). As well as an incident described in the book where the Bowers crew attacked Stan and rubbed his face in the snow to “make him whiter” (I’m paraphrasing but it’s something along those lines) so from that we Know Stan is not white.- From the research I’ve done, Jewish people in general are a ethnoreligious group, meaning they are an ethnic group of people whose members are unified by a common religious background. While Jewish people have descended from Israelites, they have since made their own ethnicity with it’s own subgroups; Ashkenazi Jewish, Mizrahi Jewish, and Sephardi Jewish. Ashkenaz means Germany in Hebrew and their group typically comes from that area (Lithuania, Poland, Germany, etc…). Mizrahim (lit. “Easterners”, Mizrach being “east” in Hebrew) refers to the Jewish population who typically originate from the Middle East and North Africa. And finally, Sephardi (lit. “Hispanic”) refers to the Jewish population typically originating from Spain or Portugal.

Based on that, my educated guess would be that Stan is Mizrahi Jewish (as Ashkenazi Jews are typically from whiter countries, and let’s be honest here, Richie would most definitely make racist Spanish jokes against Stan as well as the Jewish ones he’s already made if Stan was Hispanic). However I don’t think we’ll ever really know for certain, as it’s never, to the best of my memory, been disclosed in canon.

Thanks for asking !! I hope all of my information was accurate and I hope I was able to help a bit !
