My advice to people, but especially kids, who are invested in celebrities, be they actors, musicians, bloggers, youtubers, authors, whatever, is to keep your distance. No matter how happy their content makes you, no matter how strong the pull of a special interest/hyperfixation/obsession might be, it’s important to step back every so often.

Do you find yourself following them on all forms of social media? Do you follow their friends and family, who might not even make content themselves? Do you research their lives? Step back. Just because they are famous doesn’t mean it’s okay to engage in stalking behavior.

Do you find yourself getting anxious if you miss a video, or they upload off schedule? Step back. I know they can help you through dark times but you can’t rely on them all the time.

Would you be devastated if they turned out to be a not-so-nice person? Step back. You can only trust them as much as you trust any stranger. Don’t see yourself up to be shattered if they fall off that pedestal you put them on.

No matter how much somebody interacts with their audience, the relationship is still parasocial. Just keep that in mind. Don’t put all your trust in a stranger. It’s okay to enjoy these people and their content, but keep your distance and step back.

These 9 Companies Could Help Us Send the Next Robotic Landers to the Moon

We sent the first humans to land on the Moon in 1969. Since then, only of 12 men have stepped foot on the lunar surface – but we left robotic explorers behind to continue gathering science data. And now, we’re preparing to return. Establishing a sustained presence on and near the Moon will help us learn to live off of our home planet and prepare for travel to Mars.

To help establish ourselves on and near the Moon, we are working with a few select American companies. We will buy space on commercial robotic landers, along with other customers, to deliver our payloads to the lunar surface. We’re even developing lunar instruments and tools that will fly on missions as early as 2019!

Through partnerships with American companies, we are leading a flexible and sustainable approach to deep space missions. These early commercial delivery missions will also help inform new space systems we build to send humans to the Moon in the next decade. Involving American companies and stimulating the space market with these new opportunities to send science instruments and new technologies to deep space will be similar to how we use companies like Northrop Grumman and SpaceX to send cargo to the International Space Station now. These selected companies will provide a rocket and cargo space on their robotic landers for us (and others!) to send science and technology to our nearest neighbor.

So who are these companies that will get to ferry science instruments and new technologies to the Moon?

Here’s a digital “catalogue” of the organizations and their spacecraft that will be available for lunar services over the next decade:

Astrobotic Technology, Inc.

Pittsburg, PA

Deep Space Systems

Littleton, CO

Firefly Aerospace, Inc.

Cedar Park, TX

Intuitive Machines, LLC

Houston, TX

Lockheed Martin Space

Littleton, CO

Masten Space Systems, Inc.

Mojave, CA

Moon Express, Inc.

Cape Canaveral, FL

Orbit Beyond, Inc.

Edison, NJ

Draper, Inc.

Cambridge, MA

We are thrilled to be working with these companies to enable us to investigate the Moon in new ways. In order to expand humanity’s presence beyond Earth, we need to return to the Moon before we go to Mars.

The Moon helps us to learn how to live and work on another planetary body while being only three days away from home – instead of several months. The Moon also holds enormous potential for testing new technologies, like prospecting for water ice and turning it into drinking water, oxygen and rocket fuel. Plus, there’s so much science to be done!

The Moon can help us understand the early history of the solar system, how planets migrated to their current formation and much more. Understanding how the Earth-Moon system formed is difficult because those ancient rocks no longer exist here on Earth. They have been recycled by plate tectonics, but the Moon still has rocks that date back to the time of its formation! It’s like traveling to a cosmic time machine!

Join us on this exciting journey as we expand humanity’s presence beyond Earth.

Voicemail #22

To: Tony Stark

From: Peter Parker

May’s not dating Gene anymore.

I know I called you a little while ago but I just need to tell someone, y’know?

She called me into the living room, just her and me, and when I asked where Gene was, she told me that he left. I asked “why?”, ‘cause Gene had been saying at dinner that they should watch a movie or something. May kinda smiled a bit, but not one of those ‘I’m so happy’ smiles, one of those sad ones.

She told me she broke up with him, Mr. Stark.

I wasn’t expecting that at all, and I told her so, and she said to me that they were never really dating in the first place. She said that they were kinda maybe dating, it just took her a bit to realize it.

She told me that she wasn’t ready to date after all, that she needed some time, and that she was sorry.

I asked her, “sorry for what?”

She said she was sorry that she didn’t tell me about all of it- that she was scared. Scared about what I would say, how I would react, I guess. She told me that she had no reason to be scared after all, and that I was the perfect nephew she could have wished for.

But the thing is, she doesn’t really know what I was thinking. She didn’t hear that- that voicemail I left you.

But if she were to hear it… I want her to know that I’m sorry too. I was unfair and mean- and I didn’t even think about her at all, only me.

The thing is, she’s great. She’s the absolute best. And she’s got her way with dealing with it all, just like I’ve got mine.

So you know what? When she does start dating someone, or maybe when she decides that she doesn’t want to at all, I’m gonna be there for her.

But since I can’t really tell her all that, I thought I’d tell you, Mr. Stark. I don’t know if you listened this far, or if you even listened to it at all, but it doesn’t really matter. I’m just glad I got to say all of this.

I’ll talk to you later, Mr Stark. Bye.

Article 13 NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!!!

I DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE NOT EUROPEAN!!!!

THIS WILL AFFECT THE WAY EVERYONE USES THE INTERNET!

DO YOUR RESEARCH!

CALL/EMAIL YOUR MEPs!

KEEP THIS HORRIBLE LAW FROM GETTING PASSED!!!

Just fyi this will likely affect non-Europeans as well. It’s easier for a website like YouTube to just restrict ALL copyright instead of just sectioning off what they need to. They’ll probably let bigger YouTubers still operate, but small time content creators will be a thing of the past.

let’s talk about how incredible of an actor robert downey jr. is.

about how many of his scenes he films as iron man throughout the mcu is just closeups of his face inside the HUD. how he shoots these scenes against a green screen, with only a script (sometimes not even) to go off on. how he can express so much just through his eyes.

or let’s talk about that scene in the first iron man. the one after tony gets back from the charity event and is in his workshop, reeling from betrayal and anger. how in that scene, he doesn’t utter a single word, but we can feel every emotion coursing through tony. how rdj can emote so much without saying a thing. and we feel it all just from watching his eyes, his facial expressions, his body language.

or maybe even the scene where obadiah uses tony’s own invention to paralyze and steal from him. how obadiah talked and talked and delivered his villain monologue, but tony didn’t (couldn’t) say a single word, and we can still see the fear, the pain, the betrayal, the anger, the hurt, in tony’s eyes as his arc reactor is forcibly taken out of his body and the pieces of shrapnel begin to inch their way closer to his heart. and his will, his steely determination as he drags himself to his workshop to save himself, save his girl, save the world, even as he’s close to dying. let’s talk about how rdj brought us to the edge of our seats while we hoped to god that he’d be able to survive.

let’s talk about robert downey jr. and how amazing he is.

I think apart from Tony, his best work was in Chaplin, Less Than Zero and A Guide To Recognising Your Saints - especially that scene where his character confronts his father. God damnit that was an amazing performance. The latter two are incredibly underrated.
