Q&A with Ashley Pharoah : about that cliffhanger...
HERE BE SPOILERS! Continue at your own peril…
And yes, Ashley mistakenly refers to the estate as Chedzoy :-)
Quiltineb : I would have loved to know the whole story. I wonder if @AJPharoah has still got this on the back burner.
Ashley : Alas, I’ve run out of options so there will be no more The Living And The Dead, so ask any questions you like.
Rockn : I hope you don’t regret saying that because I have about a million questions!
Ashley : I’ll answer a few key ones. Always good to leave mystery, esp in ghost stories.
Rockn : Were the seance people in the end scene from the 1920′s? If so, Nathan dies young. Or was he executed for murder?
Ashley : Yes, 1920′s. He was executed for murder and Chedzoy [sic] became a strange, tormented house.
DaraS : I had an idea that might have been the case. That breaks my heart.
Ashley : Ah, but they had a great love. [edit]
Rockn : Which wife did Nathan supposedly kill, and did he actually do it?
Ashley : He was accused of killing Charlotte. No, he didn’t do it.
Rockn : In relation to this…was the 2nd series meant to be sort of a ‘Nathan tries to solve the puzzle of why he’d kill his wife before he did it’?
Ashley : Sort of. At first he tried to get on with his life but bad things start to happen - but this time to Charlotte.
Rockn : Who was speaking through Harriet in episode 5 and what did the warning mean? [UNANSWERED currently]
Ashley : Remind me! What was the warning?
Rockn : ‘They’re coming for you. Nathan, they’re coming for you.’
Rockn : How did Olivia Appleby die? It was assumed childbirth because of the dates, but maybe not? Why does Nathan not mourn her like he did Gabriel?
Ashley : They married very young and it wasn’t a strong marriage. A mistake, really. Charlotte was the love of his life.
Rockn : Victoria didn’t want Nathan to light the Solstice fire. A curse? One that curses them to see the dead?
Ashley : More that she doesn’t want him to stay at Chedzoy [sic]. Remember her ‘Leave my son alone!’ That was her seeing/hearing Lara in the house.
Rockn : Explain how the car ended up in 1894 but Lara’s baby didn’t?
Ashley : Lara’s baby survived the car crash.
Whisperingmind : So if someone from modern times saved Lottie and removed her from the car, how did the car come to be in 1894? The timelines converged? [UNANSWERED currently]
Rockn : In the original timeline (before Lara was involved in changing it), did Nathan succeed in killing himself? Did Charlotte remarry?
Ashley : There was no original timeline as the timelines merged. So no and no.
Rockn : Also, if Nathan killed himself in original timeline, why would Gabriel even need help from Lara’s mother / Lara? [UNANSWERED, but think this is explained by AJ’s previous answer]
Rockn : About the curse : affects spouses once they become pregnant? Victoria could see ghosts & Charlotte heard crying baby and saw Lara. [UNANSWERED currently]
Khaireddin : 1. Does Nathan ever realise that Lara is/was/will be his [great] great granddaughter? 2. Why does Gabriel need Lara to look after him in the afterlife, rather than Olivia? [UNANSWERED currently]
