you forgive you forget but you never let it go probably should be the swiffer oath of allegiance or something
i know “slut!” took everyone off guard because we thought it was going to be blank space on steroids, but there’s something beautiful and quietly brave about naming a song after the word she was branded as by the public and then have it be a tender and fragile little song about falling in love instead
Jaime I must say there is something consistently hilarious to me about re-record reviews in that EVERY SINGLE ONE has almost nothing bad to say except that her singing is just TOO GOOD now. Like, that’s it. Unfortunately you are just too talented now sorry. Have you considered being less good?
critics are actually discoursing about this now! rolling stone took a pretty pointed shot at other publications who have this complaint in their 1989 review:
there is something sooooooo hilarious about “btw I told my mom about this and she agrees with me!!” on now that we don’t talk
