If you see something, leak something

Several news sites have set up ways for whistleblowers to contact them securely. Some have very good instructions and guidance on which method you might want to use. Spread it around.

please actually use the encryption software listed! do not assume your correspondence cannot be traced!

you should also highly consider secure communication if you’re planning to protest/demonstrate

do not organize on facebook!

#I’M CRYING YOU’RE CRYING WE’RE ALL CRYING

The best example of cis people brain worms disease is that, before Laura Jane Grace came out, she wrote a song with the lines “And if I could’ve chosen, I would’ve been born a woman / My mother once told me she would’ve named me Laura” and nobody read anything into that. When she did come out, the rest of the band was all like “We just thought it was a metaphor.”

…..a metaphor for what

And The Ocean’s only the most blatant song of her’s from 2011! There was also:

  • Trash Unreal, from the same album as The Ocean, which is about a woman growing old(er) and being shamed by society for still partying, doing drugs and disappointing her mum - ‘No mother ever dreams that her daughter’s gonna grow up to be a junkie / no mother ever dreams that her daughter’ll grow up to sleep alone’
  • Laura wanted to play the main part and wear drag in the Video, ‘like in I Want To Break Free’ (in case it wasn’t clear yet that she’s blatantly talking about herself lol), but was shot down by the studio
  • Then there’s Bamboo Bones from White Crosses, which doesn’t just feature the notion of ‘what god doesn’t give to you, you’ve got to go and get for yourself’ (and while that is already kind of very not cis on it’s own, and I don’t know Laura’s personal relationship to religion, ‘Transition as partaking in/finishing God’s creation’ is A Thing among christian trans people on top of that) also gives us this very cis part about being worried about people starring at your jaw (the most cis of fears); ‘I’m embarrassed to admit it / I’ve got no grip / I’m leading with my jaw / Can you see it from a distance? / Does it look ridiculous? / I guess that’s just what I have to live with.’
  • And then there’s Spanish Moss, also from White Crosses, which. just. go listen to it? It’s actually, honest to god a song about ‘a very good life’ she’s ‘caught a glimpse of’ where ‘You can forget your name. / And there’s no need to apologize.’ but that will destroy her relationship/marriage.

There’s some more, probably, but all of these songs were written and released in the same year. Like she disappeared for ages, then came to her band like ‘I wrote two albums in like two months, this song here about wanting to be a woman, and then another one describing my life, but as a woman, and also I’m gonna play ‘her’/me in the video in drag, and then we’re also going to do these other songs here about how I dislike and have anxieties about my body and how much I wish to run away and start a life were no one knows my real name!’ and her band members went Ah yes. A Fellow Cis™.

And I haven’t even listened to Total Clarity yet, which is also from 2011.
