tfw fans treat you as dumb comedy relief and ignore the fact that you work three jobs, know at least 2 languages, have a 5/5 in intelligence and a devastating quirk that could topple cityscapes:

Netflix, when they release a series with a mainly white cast: okay let’s promote the SHIT out of this
Netflix, when they release a series with a mainly poc cast: I mean… I’m sure they know it’s there.

honestly can we talk about that scene in death note where L sends out a death row criminal to impersonate him on live TV, and Light responds by killing him and going “haha, i just killed your smartest detective, police!”, only for the real L to come on air and be like “hi yeah that wasn’t me….. that was a no-name criminal that you couldn’t have heard about in the news….. also this isn’t actually an international broadcast it’s only in the kanto region in japan…. so you must live there…. also now i know that you need a face and name to kill somebody… so you can’t kill me……. k bye” absolutely legendary. what a goddamn moment

yeah, yeah, i know, academia is an evil bourgeois lair of useless elitist white cishet men writing self-congratulatory articles about nothing and groping their brilliant female students’ arses and so on and so forth, but occasionally, it is prudent to let some of those useless academics - plenty of whom are women and/or poc and/or lgbt nowadays, how shocking, and who’ve spent their lives learning EVERYTHING about a certain subject - explain a text or a concept to you, so that you don’t run around after with a wildly inaccurate understanding of smth like what ‘social construct’ means, or what Nietzsche was all about, or what Freud actually wrote or did or said, or inventing already invented strains of feminism, etc etc etc

oh, and while i’m at it - this whole “academia is useless” is a belief that the far-right ideology has been extremely fond of all throughout the last century or so. just saying.

From the people who brought such hot takes as “if you disagree with me it’s because you haven’t read the right books” and “poor people don’t understand class struggle” comes this years scorching hot smash hit “identity validates theory and if you disagree you’re basically Hitler”

They are saying that you’re playing into the far right’s hands of you wholesale disregard academia for no better reason than “bluh bluh bourgeoisie”. And they are completely correct in that statment. The right does not want poor folks to read anything other than what is presented to them by mass media, the right would much prefer to have the working class to have no acess to multiple view points and information sources.

That, yes. It doesn’t usually boil down to “trust sources vs. trust your lived experience.” It usually boils down to “trust the method of reading multiple people and deciding what matches your lived experience” vs. “trust Hannity.” That’s by design. It’s the same way abusive personal relationships work writ large. Just as the abuser seeks to isolate you from other people who could warn you about their behavior, the propagandist seeks to isolate you from other sources who could expose them as lying or twisting facts.

im extremely nosy but i dont have loose lips and thats the best combination tbh im not here to spread rumors or hurt anyone im only in it for the knowledge of everyone’s business i wont tell anybody but i NEED to possess ALL of the secrets

me hearing all the different sides of the story because everyone involved has told me directly what their take on the situation is but not saying anything and just watching it unfold like a intensely dramatically ironic shakespearean play with an audience of one (1) which is ME
