I need yall to know that online activism isn't the end all be all and we should encourage and support people who take action irl as much as we can. Stop criticizing and condemning forms of protest people are taking irl if all you do is click a button a day and barely even wanna do that.

This isn't me shitting on online activism because I feel like that's unproductive and unhelpful, but I just keep seeing people who have zero knowledge of irl organizing or protesting efforts making critiques from the comfort of their home and the worst part of it is, it's not even legitimate critiques! Just hand wringing and boiling down to "Caring about anything is cringe." You and the people talking about opsec or masking at protests are not the same. You and the activists online who have built apps and websites dedicated to finding orgs and protests to join are not the same. You are sharing info at best or hemming and hawing about "extreme forms of protests making the movement look bad" (mind you, the "extreme forms" of protests in question are like monitored hunger strikes or shutting down bridges) at worst. Like can we all just be serious for five seconds?
