Upcoming FFXIV RP Event Calendar Policy Change regarding Real-gil RP events.

Good afternoon,

For the first time in about six years, we are having a small policy change for the RP Event Calendar. Events charging real gil will, as we clean up the current listings, be marked with a [$] prefix in the same fashion that mature events are marked with a [M]. Just like Mature events, they will not be displayed by default, and to see them you will have to opt in. This includes any use of real gil, be it entrance fees, ‘drinks and food’, and/or services and VIP packages.

On the website, there will be another selector to include real-gil events.

For the discord bot, in the /configure_channel slash command, under Misc. options, there will be a “Include Real-Gil” events selector that will need to be turned on.

There will be approximately a one-to-two-month grace period before these changes go into effect to allow some groups that wish to remove their ‘real gil’ costs to do so, if they so desire.

Please note, this change does not ease any other related restrictions, especially on the buying and selling sex or sexual related services.

We understand that some groups that charge real gil for role-play with the community may be upset by this change. However, based on feedback collected over the last year, we feel this is the best way to continue to serve the role-play community.

A call for feedback: Events selling 'services' on the RP Event Calendar

We've been getting a lot of push back over the years about events that exist to charge gil (or offer services for discord boosting) for host services, etc.  There is currently a hard ban for legal reasons on charging for ERP services as well, and we're getting more and more reports of 'services' being 'ERP services'. We've been asking about a number of RP communities and based on feedback we've been getting are considering removing events selling role-play.  ex:  (500k gil for a 30 min private RP session) and letting the calendar focus on things that are role-play for the sake of role-play.

However, I don't want to make this change in isolation as this will be the first actual change in policy for the event calendar in the last 3-4 years.  Any feedback would be welcome.   Either reply or email us at ffxiv.rp.events@gmail.com.

Calendar Dalamud Plugin Released

So, we've not got a Dalamud plugin that's fully released for those that find the website too old school (which it admittedly is).  You can find it by searching for "events" in the Dalamud plugin installer.   

Some of you all might have noticed it sitting in testing for about six months or so, but I'd been waiting for some network infrastructure changes to get sorted, and they were exceptionally slow to happen.

Martial Gladiator Tournament

On Saturday, January 27th, a gladiatoral event will be held outside of Ul'dah to be open to all city-states. Sanctioned as an official event of Ul'dah, hosted this year by the primary sponsor, Roronzo Sesenzo, the martial tournament will host not gladiators of the infamous bloodsands, but be open to the fighters of the star that wish to prove their nation's prowess in combat. All highborn houses and wealthy persons are encouraged to attend, to either pit themselves against their fellows or have their champions do the fighting.

RP Event Calendar Posts

Hey, I realized some folks have thought the RP Event Calendar had shut down since I stopped making posts on here.

The calendar is alive and kicking, just in Discord and at https://ffxiv-rp.org still, and with the dalamud plugin.

Long story short, the posts here and been getting less and less traction / visibility and I'd been burning out pretty hard on social media, as these take manual effort. I can start back up, if you all think it'd be worth doing?

So that event calendar thing...

I know I've been neglecting posting the regular updates here instead of just letting people use the discord bots and the calendar site. I think the volume was just getting to be more noise than useful. That said, for those of you that follow the lesser moon, there's a plugin for that now. It's still under testing until I get some more feedback, so you'll have to turn those on under settings -> experimental -> Get plugin testing builds. You'll find it under the FFXIV RP Event Calendar.

With folks coming back to tumblr, if there's enough interest I'll start broadcasting the weekly updates here again as well.

Please let me know what improvements can be made or any bugs you wander across.

Hey everyone. It's that dreaded time of year where we all got an hour less sleep than usual. At least unless you live in a sane part of the world that's gotten rid of this time of troubles and shifting times UTC offsets.

Please have a care with your event runners, sometimes, not everyone anticipates a time shift and things may start earlier (or later) than you'd expect. It usually takes a week or two for people to make adjustments, so some patience may be needed.
