This animation without the filter because it fucked with the framerate for some reason (this isn't the intended look otherwise, but bleh)

im sure most of you dont give a flying dick tit about godzilla shit but this model and now animation is the first thing ive made and was kinda proud of in a long time .

WAIT YOU MADE THIS?

idk probably

im worried that the reason you're getting less attention than you deserve is that this looks like it was clipped out of a Movie, and not one of the lower budget ones

Went to FINALLY reply to a two truths and a lie post I was tagged in, only to realise that I couldn't reblog it cus of the reblog controls??? So here's my own post :P

  1. I was hit by a car and flew ten metres
  2. My mom named me after a character from a tragic story where a little girl dies from cancer
  3. I grew up in a Christian cult that however believed in the Greek deities, as in they were angels that we prayed to or demons that we prayed against

@anotherwritingblog12 @krisrisk @sockablock @helloiammadplatypus and finally @dangerous-advantage cus you tagged me in the first place and I'm actually very curious about what your lie is!

also SUN ILY FOR THIS <3 <3 <3 (/p /affectionate)

|-| Actually yeah! I have around seven years’ experience playing the clarinet and have been working on becoming a vocalist (more as a hobby, but who knows.) I also desperately want to learn guitar, specifically bass. |-|

|-| Oh man, this changes a lot. But off the top of my head: Brand Saint John from The Tarot Sequence, Violet from Dark Rise by CS Pacat (all of those characters actually oml <3), and Kevin Day from the AFTG series (don’t @ me, he’s pathetic and also deserved better). |-|

|-| Sagittarius, babey!!! |-|

|-| Hm. Either crimson/white/tan color schemes, pale lavender/purple/silver, or dark navy centered color schemes. |-|

|-| Either, or. Any sleep is good sleep (especially with the “insomnia lite” I’ve got going on)|-|

|-| One right now, but I’ve been learning Spanish for the past couple of years (still bad at it, sadly) and want to learn ASL next! |-|

|-| Uh. Currently, it’s just to get to a point in my life where I can work a chill night job and be on a night schedule, while also just kind of. Being secure. Nothing extravagant. Maybe write some books on the side/produce some music. |-|

|-| Short all the way! I’ve had long hair before (for a long time), but my hair is THICK and after a certain point, tangles literally when I just move, and I honestly prefer a shorter style. (Also, not taking an upwards of three+ hours to dry after a shower is nice, too.) |-|

|-| Tea, but only when I’m sick (I’d recommended nettle tea for sore throats, it tastes like wet grass lump no matter what you do, but I am not even kidding when I say it’s the most effective thing for sore throats. Nothing has even come close to the near-instant relief it brings. Just buy a shitty box of it, boil some water, and try to stomach the taste, and I promise. It’s like actual magic how quickly it works.

(Coffee gives me a short burst of energy, then knocks me out for several hours and leaves me feeling like I just dragged myself through hell lmao.) |-|

|-| Fictional world. That’s just what writing/reading is, isn’t it? |-|

Thanks for the tag! I’d love to participate :) Long post and @s below:

Hello! I’m so happy that you tagged me in this HI!!! @wisttoawish it’s been a whileee HOW ARE YOU?! It took me such a long time to do this but thank you for tagging meeee

Ok here are my answers

Do you play an instrument?

Yes, many. I am best at piano I’ve been playing it longer than any of the others, since I was maybe 12 or 13. It’s my favorite. I also play guitar, bass, ukulele, and I sing.

Favorite fictional characters?

My current obsession is comics particularly Batman so currently Damian Wayne and Jason Todd, mainly. But, every member of that family. I can’t think of anyone else outside of comics like literary ones, I put myself on the spot. I like Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders, LadyBird from Ladybird.

What’s your star sign?

Sagittarius

Favorite color schemes?

I love love love blue and purple. Also, black and white.

Naps or Long Sleep?

Long sleep alwaysssss the longer I can sleep the better, especially if I don’t have an alarm set.

What languages do you speak?

Spanish, English, very broken French, and I’m doing a course on ASL so I understand a little bit.

Dreams/Aspirations?

I want to leave where I live and have lived all my life. I want to have a job that makes me happy and I’m financially secure enough that I can rest. I’d love to have a big bookcase filled with books and I can afford trips to amusement parks. I want to live in a house with a lake and trees in the back, and I want cold weather.

Long or Short Hair?

I think I have medium length hair. I prefer it short though I think long suits me better. I haven’t found a haircut I like 100%.

Tea or Coffee?

Tea. It took me such a long time to get into it but I love it so much, especially with honey.

Bring a fictional character to life or go into a fictional world?

Go to a fictional world. I don’t want to bring them here, I want to go there.

I feel so... down whenever I want to watch queer or trans videos because I know in the back of my mind that none of the current large queer content creators' content or community is safe for people like me, intersex people.

I love their work otherwise, but it hurts badly to hear them toss around casual intersexism in their videos constantly when discussing queer and trans issues and nobody ever mentions it.

And because these are large, popular creators, nobody has ever listened when I've tried to ask they adjust their language. My dms go ignored or unseen and my public comments get drowned out by fans defending their intersexist comments. It's emotionally draining and exhausting, I just want to be included in my own community.

Genuinely asking if you are comfortable sharing, but what are some examples of "casual intersexism"? I'm honestly less read up on it than I should as someone who is intersex. Feel free to ignore this though should you not feel like it or anything.

  • Stripping our intersex status when it fits an argument, ex. "Cis kids get put on hormones no problem while trans kids are denied them" (While they ignore that these are intersex children forced onto hormones)
  • Using us when it does fit an argument, but ignoring us entirely outside of that context, ex. Using intersex people existing to validate trans people existing, but never doing any sort of intersex advocacy unless it directly benefits/includes trans people as well
  • Erasing intersex issues while attempting to argue trans rights, ex. "No child is getting forced sex changes, that's not a thing that happens" (It doesn't happen to trans people, but happens all the time to intersex people)
  • Saying that sex is binary but gender isn't (Neither of them are binary)
  • Reducing intersex people down to cis people with disorders, ex. "Cis people without uteruses" or "Cis people with gynecomastia"
  • In addition to the above point, generally acting as if intersex people are not oppressed or as though we have it better than trans people do, often by calling us cis and disordered rather than intersex, ex. "Cis women with high testosterone levels are allowed in sports but trans people aren't" (Which is not even really a true statement) or by wishing that they were intersex or openly admitting to calling themselves intersex in their personal life in an attempt to avoid discrimination
  • Casual use of the word "Hermaphrodite"
  • Calling intersex animals trans/nonbinary
  • Ignoring blatant intersexism, never calling it out
  • Calling bills/laws or other issues which directly impact intersex people "trans bills" instead of "trans and intersex bills", such as the recent Kansas bill directly targeting intersex people being called a "trans bill" - making these bills aiming to exterminate intersex people solely about trans people and ignoring the bills' direct attack on intersex people
  • When these issues are brought up, saying that intersex people are "just caught in the crossfire/unfortunately affected by mistake but not intentionally, it's about trans people not intersex people"
  • Saying that intersex people are not LGBT/queer (Not all intersex people identify as queer, but we have always been part of queer community and should not be pushed out)
  • Reducing intersex people down to a statistic
  • Common misinformation, such as saying that being intersex means "being born with both parts"
  • Using afab and amab as equal to "perisex female" and "perisex male", ex. Talking as if all afabs are born with the same hormonal, genetic, or reproductive profiles

i’ve heard a lot of people say “don’t reach out to your friends first and see how many people will remain in your life. those are your true friends” and i get it. it sucks and it’s tiring constantly being the one to message first, to initiate hang outs but don’t take this so literally. some friendships require initiation. i have lost touch with so many people who genuinely cared about me and wanted me in their life because i stopped reaching out. it’s a hard pill to swallow but honestly some people just suck at it and it doesn’t mean they don’t love and value you. i’ve reconnected with some people over the past few months and it’s crazy how genuinely happy they are to see me and how engaged they are in the conversation. i just think sometimes we’re too harsh on each other & too quick to emphasize other peoples flaws and remove them from our lives but then we’ll all be alone and what’s the point of life then!!!!

I wish this feeling upon everyone who wants to wear a dress, its really the best

Avatar
ghostlynblm

this makes me so happy as a fat hairy guy who likes skirts and dresses i never get to see guys like me in dresses it’s always skinny twinks this makes me so happy 🥺🥺

If you are a larger gentleman, and wish to partake of the dress-wearing experience, please accept these tips to help fit your first dress!

1) You want something with stretch in it. Dresses are (often) built for people with boobs, and until you get familiar with how they fit your specific body, trying something super-stiff will 100% end in tears. I promise you, I am 32 years old, I have been wearing dresses all my life, and I still get pissed at dressing room mirrors because who the fuck designs some of these. There are fitted, tailored dresses designed by sane people who expect that their clothes will be worn by human beings, and they will make you look fine as fuck, but make your life easy and don’t start with them.

2) Dress sizes were designed by sixteen ferrets on crack and are not consistent between brands, styles, or vintage vs modern. Use them as a guideline, not a rule, and don’t let them upset you. Very often they’re adjusted in order to target a specific audience.

3) Lauren by Ralph Lauren is an amazing plus-size brand. Both of my fitted dresses are Lauren dresses, and that isn’t because I’m a label snob, it’s because I try on a dress that I think looks good and I go “YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS” and then pull it off and look at the label and go “ … . why am I surprised?” When you’re ready to branch out into fitted dresses, I strongly recommend finding your local Macy’s or Nordstrom and checking out their Lauren section. Even if you don’t buy anything from that section, it will give you a much better idea of how fitted dresses should look (flattering!) and feel (comfortable!).

4) Empire waists are your enemy. Those are the ones with the raised waistline that, on someone with boobs, sits right beneath said appendages. They will 1) ride up and 2) make you look pregnant, and without breasts to fill out the cups it’ll look like you don’t know how to fit your size. It does not matter who you are or how tall you are, if you’re above like a size four, empire waists are not going to be comfortable or give you the look you want. Just save yourself the time.

5) Arm holes on a sleeveless dress do not fit like arm holes on a tank top. They’re cut differently. Before you buy, MAKE SURE you cross your arms over your front and give yourself the biggest hug you can. Then put your arms behind you as far as you can. If you feel the fabric snag or chafe, you will end up wasting your money because the dress will be stupidly uncomfortable. You might be able to fix this by getting the same dress one size up, but if you choose to try one size up, prepare yourself for disappointment first. It’s often a sign of poor design or craftsmanship.

6) Part of trying on your dress should be SITTING DOWN. If this isn’t a dress you plan to wear with tights or leggings, you need to make sure it covers the backs of your thighs. (Either that, or you need to resign yourself to peeling yourself off chairs, and that fucking hurts.)

7) If you wear a mix of different underwear types, make sure you wear boxers when you go to try on dresses. Nothing will suck more than throwing on your dress and realizing you can see your shorts very easily underneath.

and if you don’t fit a dress you thought you would, don’t feel bad. it happens to girls all the time. dresses on average aren’t really made for anyone except really thin people.

Do I reblog this every time it crosses my dash? Yes, yes I do, because it contains helpful information for finding and trying on dresses, and EVERYONE deserves to try on dresses if they want.

My additional piece of advice? Damn near everyone, when trying on clothes, suddenly has Good Posture when they’re looking in the mirror. So give it a few minutes, then see how the dress feels when your body has relaxed into what your Regular Posture is.

good advice for anyone who might want to wear a dress. It’s not you, your body is not uniquely fucked up, the clothing industry has just done so much coke they design for a hanger and then lossy resize it and call it good.

As a girl who’s skinny, most dresses don’t fit me either! So to any males/mascs who wanna wear dresses! Even someone who constantly gets told “i wish i could look like that” most dresses don’t fit me !!!!! Sizing is shit! Make sure you can move around good and the chest isn’t too tight, and!!! You can wear really short dresses but do be warned that sometimes it’s hard to do things without being scared you’re going to be showing things that aren’t meant for the world, and the sitting chairs thing. That SUCKS especially in summer. I’d personally (personally, not for everyone, do whatever the hecc you want!!! And ofc there are many exceptions too!!!) would aim for about as long as your arm falls to your side and further!

(Ps, spinning in a longer skirt dress makes you feel like a princess)

A Library with a deadly enchantment.

A fae lord who wants in.

A human woman willing to risk it all for a taste of power.

In a land ruled by ruthless Fae, twenty-one-year-old Lore Alemeyu's village is trapped in a forested prison. Lore knows that any escape attempt is futile–her scars are a testament to her past failures. But when her village is threatened, Lore makes a desperate deal with a fae lord.

She convinces him that she will risk her life for wealth, but really she’s after the one thing the Fae covet above all: magic of her own.

As Lore navigates the hostile world outside, she’s forced to rely on two fae males to survive. When undeniable chemistry ignites, she’s not just in danger of losing her life, but her heart to the very creatures she can never trust.

More pre-order links are incoming as they generate.

----------

Hey booklr! I'm posting this on behalf of my friend Analeigh Sbrana (@literaryxqueen on insta), who doesn't have a Tumblr. Her debut novel, Lore of the Wilds, went live for pre-order this morning, and I'd love it if we could show it some love.

Analeigh tried for two years to sell her story to trad-pub, but the vibe was that trad-pub didn't want to take the risk on a Black Fae fantasy adventure set in a breathtakingly descriptive magic kingdom in a market currently flooded with white fairy romances. So, she took matters into her own hands and joined the ranks of self-pub.

Full disclosure: I worked on this book as a proofreader, and I loved every minute of it. I kept forgetting I was supposed to be working and reading ahead. I scheduled a week to finish reading it in did it in 3 days, and the only reason it took so long was that I had to actually pause and work on it 😅.

So, if you like:

-🍄cottage core -✨fairy core -📚light/dark academia vibes -🌈a diverse cast of lgbtqia+ Black characters -💘romance -🧝🏾‍♀️ being kidnapped by a fairy prince to tidy up his cursed/enchanted library and coming into your own magical powers as a result, then Lore of the Wilds might just be for you!

Here, have a sneak peek of what the physical books will look like:

(ID in alt) The book will eventually be available in eBook, paperback, and hardback--Ana's just having a time getting the links to generate. I'll post them as soon as they're live.

Please do consider giving LoTW some love. It's such a fantastic book, and I'd love to see it thrive where trad-pub left it to fail. Thank you 💖

So my pre-order got canceled and the website link doesn’t work anymore

I updated in the reblogs. Ana’s pre-orders went hugely viral on social media and several of the publishers who rejected her started tripping over themselves to buy it.

She’ll hopefully be able to announce details soon, but the book is still coming out, just through trad-pub.

*Note: for the purposes of this poll, trans people includes trans men, trans women, ("aligned" and unaligned) nonbinary people, bigender & multigender people, gender fluid people, agender people, genderqueer/genderfuck people, people who are strongly gender nonconforming in other ways who no longer (exclusively or primarily) identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, people questioning if they are trans and still in the process of figuring out how they identify, and anybody else who identifies with transness as an umbrella term describing not currently feeling/living/identifying/experiencing the gender they were assigned at birth, regardless of expression/labels/bodies/etc. This is a broadly inclusive poll. If your question is "do I count" my answer is "yes."

Of all the episodes to get to promote: Wayne Brady, Rashawn Scott, Ross Bryant, and Aaron Wilson on keys -- THIS WEEK, in a very special "Karaoke Night" episode of "Make Some Noise." 🎤👄🎶 This one is pretty full circle for me: "Who's Line" was my very first taste of improv and Wayne Brady my very first taste of musical improv. Both of would go on to become life long loves. When Wayne showed up to set, the first thing he said to me was "There are only two people doing taped improv correctly: us and you." I could have cried. Wayne's talents are just a part of this week's episode, in which Rashawn, Ross, and Aaron also left no crumbs.

Anyway if you’re from the US and you ever wanted to know what tumblr feels like from a non-USAmerican perspective (please note that the rest of the world is not a monolith either and none of these apply without exception):

  • Everybody’s talking about brands and stores you’ve never seen in real life. You generally assume they exist, but they might as well be one giant prank the rest of the internet is in on.
  • You find a post that just sounds wrong. It makes no sense. It’s like OP lives in a weird alternate reality. 9/10 times, it’s just some USAmerican Thing.
  • You’re still not entirely sure how much an inch is. Or a foot. Or even how many of the former there are in the latter. You maybe know your height in feet and inches.
  • You have no idea how much a pound is. You’d also like to know how the fuck pound shortens to lbs.
  • What the fuck is “military time”
  • Somebody talks about some legal process or something similar. They don’t mention which country’s legal system this pertains to. You know anyway.
  • People talk about politics. None of it pertains to you. Many posts contain guilt tripping. “How can you not care about this?? Why won’t you reblog this?? People need to know this about x candidate for y position!” You’re busy trying to stay on top of the political landscape in your own country.
  • You pick up some random slang from the internet. Monkey see monkey do. You’re called racist. You didn’t know it was AAVE. You learnt it from black letters on white background, not from the mouths of people whose faces you could see. How would you have known? You try to unlearn it.
  • People tell you that you must publicly denounce Chick-fil-A or you’re homophobic. You don’t even know what a Chick-fil-A is.
  • People say you don’t know LGBTQ+ history. What they mean is you don’t know USAmerican LGBTQ+ history. Nobody cares about your country’s history.
  • You’re “called out” on using an “offensive” term. It’s (a direct translation of) a completely harmless word where you live.
  • People expect you to have an idea of how far apart 2 USAmerican states are. You barely know geography past your country’s immediate neighbors.
  • You randomly switch between British and American spellings. Nothing’s real and there are no rules.
  • People talk about multiple hour car rides and you get twitchy just thinking about it. You suddenly understand why USAmerican cars are so big.
  • Somebody talks about school shooting drills. You only ever had fire alarm drills.
  • You see a cool statistic. The study’s only about the US. It’s unfortunately of no use to you.
  • People misuse/misspell words and names from your native language. It’s tiring.
  • (You feel sorry for the French. Nobody should be allowed to mangle the word déjà vu like that.)
  • You’re still not over the fact that USAmerican school children are supposed to say that pledge thing every morning. You’re never getting over that.
  • You still don’t know why the men are fresh or what the fuck a sophomore is.
  • Who the fuck pays up first and then fills up gas??? That’s made up, right??
  • Everybody has a weird obsession with some comfort food you’d never even heard of before you signed up here.

Fellow non-USAmericans, please add anything else you can think of.

You want to kick someone every time a man is called a brunette.

You know more about us politics then your own countries. People in your country laugh at a government official. You don’t know who that is, but you’re up to date on Florida’s legislation.

Someone online talks about the “liberals”. The post makes no sense until you realise they’re talking about the opposite side of the political spectrum than your country’s Liberal party.

Someone mentions ‘the President’, no clarification. They’re not from the USA. Neither are you. You know what he’s the President of without asking.

You click on a video. The person speaking in it has an accent similar to yours. This is novel and surprising. You won’t experience it again for months.

You are always surprised when somebody you interact with is also not an American (assumed American until proven otherwise).

You find a recipe with only three ingredients. Two and a half of them are impossible to get in your country.

Seriously, the pledge and shooter drills! Never getting over that.

The astonishing backlash when somebody mentions that racism works differently in their country (there is still very much racism, unfortunately).

This video is not available in your country.

Seriously, the

pledge and shooter drills! Never

getting over that.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

They forget to mention that the industrialist also eventually caught all the fish severely depleting and eventually destroying the balanced ecosystem.

Avatar
lunasong365

and that the industrialist had to create a market for the fish by advertising.

ID: An excerpt from “Timeless Simplicity” by John Lane that reads, The industrialist was horrified to find the fisherman lying beside his boat, smoking a pipe. “Why aren’t you fishing?” asked the industrialist. “Because I’ve caught enough fish for the day.” “Why don’t you catch some more?” “What would I do with them?” “Earn more money. Then you could have a motor fixed to your boat and go into deeper waters and catch more fish. That would bring you money to buy nylon nets, so more fish, more money. Soon you would have enough to buy two boats, even a fleet of boats, then you could be rich like me.” “What would I do then?” “Then you could sit back and enjoy life.” “What do you think I’m doing now?” / end ID

This reminds me of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s descriptions of Indigenous harvesting & fishing practices that looked like laziness to colonizers (extra paragraph breaks added by me for accessibility):

‘ Early colonists on Turtle Island were stunned by the plenitude they found here, attributing the richness to the bounty of nature.

Settlers in the Great Lakes wrote in their journals about the extraordinary abundance of wild rice harvested by Native peoples; in just a few days, they could fill their canoes with enough rice to last all year.

But the settlers were puzzled by the fact that, as one of them wrote, “the savages stopped gathering long before all the rice was harvested.” She observed that “the rice harvest starts with a ceremony of thanksgiving and prayers for good weather for the next four days. They will harvest dawn till dusk for the prescribed four days and then stop, often leaving much rice to stand unreaped. This rice, they say, is not for them but for the Thunders. Nothing will compel them to continue, therefore much goes to waste.”

The settlers took this as certain evidence of laziness and lack of industry on the part of the heathens. They did not understand how indigenous land-care practices might contribute to the wealth they encountered.

I once met an engineering student visiting from Europe who told me excitedly about going ricing in Minnesota with his friend’s Ojibwe family. He was eager to experience a bit of Native American culture. They were on the lake by dawn and all day long they poled through the rice beds, knocking the ripe seed into the canoe. “It didn’t take long to collect quite a bit,” he reported, “but it’s not very efficient. At least half of the rice just falls in the water and they didn’t seem to care. It’s wasted.”

As a gesture of thanks to his hosts, a traditional ricing family, he offered to design a grain capture system that could be attached to the gunwales of their canoes. He sketched it out for them, showing how his technique could get 85 percent more rice. His hosts listened respectfully, then said, “Yes, we could get more that way. But it’s got to seed itself for next year. And what we leave behind is not wasted. You know, we’re not the only ones who like rice. Do you think the ducks would stop here if we took it all?” Our teachings tell us to never take more than half. ’

Captions shouldn't be censored. If the video says fuck or cum or cunt the captions should say the fucking word.

Unless it's a slur! No one needs to see that.

If they say a slur in the video, the captions should reflect it. The disabled are not little babies who have to have life sanitized for them.

Avatar
sunbummonkey

okay but I feel like ur forgetting that slurs don't just apply to the disabled... children don't need to be seeing the n-word or other racial slurs??

but children DO need to be hearing it? are you actually reading the post here?

Here's how it works when subtitles are done properly:

Audio: Let's BEEP go! Subtitle: Let's (censor tone) go!

Audio: Let's fucking go! Subtitle: Let's fucking go!

Removing swears and slurs from the subtitles without removing it from the audio is implying that deaf/HoH people need babying, unlike their hearing friends and family sitting right next to them. Which is frustrating.

The point of subtitles is to give the same experience to everyone watching, regardless of ability—not to be a more palatable version of what's being said.

The purpose of subtitles/captions is to be accurate, that's all.
