Oh thankyou for the clarification, yes I remember what I was talking about but I'm not sure if I remember any details about the guy himself anymore- it was so long ago! I will try to wade through my youtube history a bit though for sure :)

Honestly if you look at the original fight in the snow sequence, from Griffith's perspective, Guts does come off as kind of a psychopath.

Like leaving aside he's acting like the last several years relationship meant nothing, with zero known provocation- like they haven't fought or had any disagreements, they were probably just hanging out casually, YESTERDAY- but also he's SMILING about it like.

Absolute Dumbass. 😭

Guts is giving Griffith the 'aww you're so cute when you're mad' treatment when Griffith is about to kill everyone and then himself.

just thought about how neo!Griffith's body is new. every part, every inch, every aspect... he no longer has scars from himself or battle or little clumsy accidents, his teeth are perfectly straight in a way that just makes his smile not his- the one he used to smile, his bones no longer carry the healed evidence of breaks. those histories are erased like Griffith's original physical body. a body that Guts will never get to touch again.

it's the ultimate came-back-right...but Miura draws him in a way that strays into the uncanny and I believe that's bc no one else sees that. Guts sees that and that's why we see it. to Guts he couldn't have come back more wrong.

If due to some Godhand related intervention, Guts asks for his deepest desire to kill Griffith and they just take him back to the past, before the eclipse- and ask him to just snap Griffith's neck- I wonder if he'd be able to.

Absolutely not, not because he couldn’t physically but because he couldn’t emotionally. Other than Casca, Griffith is the only one still alive from his friend group at what he considered a high point in his life. Even after what he did, I think Guts blames himself for things getting so bad that Griffith was reduced to the state where he felt like he needed to do something horrible. I think that for Guts, in a way turning his back on the Hawks had earned him the helpless horror of the eclipse

Absolutely.

Honestly I think Guts would sooner cut off his remaining hand than hurt a version of Griffith he considers innocent.

There's a mental distinction he has between the concept of Griffith and 'our Griffith' and I honestly think it would be really fascinating if the narrative called him out on it.
