EXTRA LIFE - LUCKY SEVEN

For those of you that've been here a while, you know the drill. For all you new folk...

It's charity time!

My brother and I, as we do every year for Game Day, will be streaming for Extra Life, raising money for the Children's Miracle Network! As we do every year, we are specifically donating to the hospital in the area we grew up, Baylor Scott & White, specifically the McLane Children's Medical Center.

We will be streaming today [Saturday, November 4th] from 9am CST to 9pm CST. We will be joined by a multitude of our friends throughout the day for some lowkey multiplayer nonsense - everything we've picked either has quick repeatable rounds or is very gentle paced, so feel free to pop in and out at your leisure. We have a handful of multiplayer games in the docket, but the big event this year is going to be Core Keeper, since their latest update happened right at the beginning of October. Come join us for some exploration into the unknown!

As an extra treat this year, not only will my brother (ToraTheNora) be streaming his viewpoint on his twitch, but our dear friend Fen (MDBluebird) made us PNGtubers this year! Show them some love

Links for both my stream, Bamboo's stream, and the Extra Life Donation page will be linked below. Please stop on by, and donate if you are able! We are aiming to raise as much as we can! If you can't donate, that's cool; just please spread the word! We appreciate your help!

Guys, we're an hour away, and we're already at $950 raised. That's INSANE! Thank you all so much, and if you're still wanting to check us out, we're playing Jackbox (with Audience Participation enabled!) over at my brother's stream@ladyramora

We're down to the final hour, and we're at $950 raised for Children's Miracle Network! If you still want to catch some of our shenanigans, we're still going over at my brother's channel!

[Written in response to a weekly prompt from Writeblr Retreat.]

"We call it the Bole," Rah said, a crisp smile upon his lips as he pointed up at the constellation. Tacitus tilted his head to the side as he followed Rah's hand, his blue eyes held captive by the stars.

"What does it mean?" Tacitus murmured.

"It's a tree. Some may call it the tree of life." Rah raised both of his hands, tracing invisible strands between the stars. "See how it branches?"

"Yes, I can picture it."

"Now, follow the stars down to the roots. They could be planted all the way down here in the earth, for how far they reach." Rah lowered his hands and turned to Tacitus. His violet eyes searched the taller man's face for a moment -- just long enough for Tacitus to notice the warming of his cheeks.

Rah cleared his throat.

"The Bole is sturdy, unwavering. A protector in the simplest terms. A nurturing force that has weathered every storm, that has provided for smaller living things the whole of its life."

Not unlike you, Tacitus, he failed to add aloud.

"I turn to it often, I'll admit. When I feel regret about where I've come from; when I feel doubt about where I'm going." Rah drew a card -- the Bole -- from his deck, and handed it to Tacitus almost shyly.

Tacitus bit his tongue, concern of some variety knitting his eyebrows together. His eyes were soft, gentle like spring rain, and Rah wanted nothing more than to cup Tacitus's jaw in his hand and caress his scarred cheek.

"What's wrong?" Rah asked.

"It's just..." Tacitus hummed a little to himself, examining the card Rah had given him. "There are other places you can turn, aren't there?"

Rah smiled at that.

"Of course there are." He nudged Tacitus's side with his elbow -- not hard enough to jab him, just enough to reassure him he was there. "And now I have you to turn to as well, don't I?"

Tacitus blushed and Rah suppressed a chuckle.

"But back to the lesson. The Bole represents many things, but it is still only just that -- a representation. One of the most important things to remember about astromancy is that the future cannot truly be foretold. The stars and the cards both merely serve as suggestions, and the mortal mind is nothing if not suggestible."

"Then when you turn to the Bole, you are turning to yourself?" Tacitus asked.

"Aye. To myself, but also to other constant forces in my life. To people I know I can rely upon; people who have earned my trust."

Tacitus blushed harder, deliberately avoiding Rah's gaze by focusing on the card he still held.

"The art is very pretty," Tacitus stammered, holding the card back out to Rah. Rah plucked it from his hand, his fingers just barely brushing against Tacitus's palm.

Show me!

Oof..I'm really struggling today. Going to be out in the real world trying to sort out some things today. Can you show me your favorite screenshots? Share your lore! Favorite pets? Favorite mounts? What's your proudest FFXIV moment? Share a story of when someone helped you or you helped someone else? Shine some light in the abyss because it's dark down here today.

Have a fistbump from Thorne for your day as well!

I have a gut feeling that if any Bean Lore (tm) might be a good pick me up, it'd be Orrin! So while most people know him and his love of cooking, did you also know he likes to garden?

Much like how he picked up cooking from his stepdad, Orrin got the gardening bug from helping his mother in her garden back in Kugane. She grew mostly flowers and ornamental plants, but he personally likes growing edible plants, like herbs and veggies. (He also takes side jobs with the Botanist's guild to help supplement his income.)

His favorite garden plants are chives and scallions (versatile!) but his favorite fruit is oranges. One of these days he'll talk his Free Company leader into getting an orange tree...

It is time.

Question drive time.

For those who don't know about my question drive:

The basic idea is that, to encourage people to talk more about their WoL/OC(s) I come onto your blog after you have liked/reblogged this post and send you a question about your OC(s). Sometimes these can be deep, world-building questions; other times I’ll ask what they had for breakfast. It’s all a bit of fun, I reblog the questions back here, and it lets me meet and learn more about various characters! If you don’t want a question but want to still support the project, just note that in the tags. :)

I'm hoping to get the bulk of them done this weekend while I'm hanging out! I thought the other one was too old to go back to at this point, so I'm actually going to link this dive to my pinned post - that way people can see what's the most recent at a glance. Enjoy!
