A shrug. “I’ve been called worse things for worse reasons.”
Image
“And I know plenty of ‘nuts’ people who would also be interested in helping.”
Perhaps it doesn’t, but it’s something worth looking into. And it’s something he’s going to research on. It’s wise on the others part not to tell him, but such a gesture isn’t going to stop him from looking for it himself.
He’s decided not to pass up on it. But he’ll keep his lips pressed tight on that matter.

Cinder sighs,

Image

“Fair enough--but you won’t get any assistance from yours truly if you try it. And if you do think you’ve found it, would it be too much to ask that you just leave it be?”

Avatar
“Considering the threat should this weapon fall into the wrong hands, you have my kingdom’s support.” Corrine declared, pressing her fingertips together near her chin. “My people and I will do everything we can to help you in any way you require.”

“You and your people have my most sincere thanks,” Cinder bows her head, “I’d prefer to destroy it, but truth be told, I’m not even certain the weapon can be destroyed--its immense power may mean it holds too much sway over the world as we know it to be destroyed.”

Avatar
“I can understand that.”
He’s going to keep this to himself, but that raised another question. “Why… would you trust me with that information? I could leave and get a search started for something that dangerous, and powerful.”
And honestly, he’s tempted.
Image
“I also have to wonder why you know where it is.”
Image

“Because everyone would call you nuts. Nobody really believes it exists--I’m not even sure I do--but if there’s one place I’m pretty sure it could be...” she trails off, “...No--there’s a reason I didn’t tell you when I first said that. I’m not trusting anyone who knows where it is to not go looking for it.”

So, a tool used to create strong weapons? Reminded him of his blade, its’ own metal also stronger than steel due to its’ enchantments. He isn’t surprised to find a similar practice here, either.
“Something like that is here? I take it the precise location is unknown. I’d hate to see that fall into the wrong hands.”
Just as he wouldn’t trust such a thing in his own.
Image

“Indeed--and for good reason; having a device that can quite literally cause volcanoes to erupt and turn entire armies to ashes just anywhere isn’t a good idea. So, Tyne put it inside a meteor and sent it here. If we’re lucky, then it got buried and time covered it up. If we’re not...” she trails off, “Then I know exactly where it is. And there is no way in hell that I’m going to dig it up.”

lonely sentence starters

“Long time no see! How’re you holding up?” “You clearly weren’t expecting me.” “I came here to help you, but if you’d rather I hadn’t, I will leave you alone again.” “I thought I’d just stop by and see how you were doing… It’s been a while.” “You’ve been quiet lately.” “How are you? Honestly. Don’t give me the usual crap.” “Why’re you sitting here all by yourself?” “This is supposed to be a party. You are supposed to dance, not sulk.” “Has nobody come to see you?” “Do you want me to leave?” “When’s the last time you went outside?” “Do you even want to see anyone?” “You seem lonely…” “Don’t you have any friends?” “I don’t mind keeping you company.” “Do you really have this place all to yourself?” “Maybe if you tried being nice every once in a while you would actually have people who cared about you.” “I’d visit you more often if I had the time…” “I am your friend. You’ve got me.” “Are you lonely?” ———- “I just want to be left alone.” “I’ve been so alone.” “You’re the first person to visit me in ages.” “I wish you’d visit more often.” “I’m just so sick of being alone all the time.” “No, of course I’m not lonely.”

A sigh as he relaxed himself. It’s strange having a queen bow to him he has to admit. “… It’s fine I was getting worked up as well.”
Neither did he, but it was unfortunately leaning that way until the other pulled back; leading him do to the same.
“Hm…?”
Image
“No,” he replied, shaking his head. “You’ve never told me about that. What is it?”
Image

“When the majeia was still whole, the gods used it to forge weapons beyond normal steel--the Lightsworn, they were called. The Ilyassa was the greatest of them, a lance which holds more magical power than all the gods combined.” She looks over at Kare as she adds,

“The best part? It’s here, on Ralys.”

Avatar
With a hiss, he shut his eyes, opening them to form a glare with a brief flash of scarlet.
“I was speaking of general terms, not just your gods. Just as I have a general distrust for them. ”
Image
“Don’t,” he bluntly demanded. “I have no interest in preaching. We both share different opinions. But I’ve travelled far, to many places, and the feel I get for the gods is one riddled with distaste.”
“That’s right,” he nodded. “There are other gods out there. I can respect that your gods are trying, but they aren’t all that way. Beings with such power make me uneasy.”
Or is it jealously?
A pause.
“My fiancee is fond of the gods as well. I respect that in the same sense but it hasn’t changed my stance on them. I don’t want to argue.”
Image

“I...yes, you’re right,” Cinder bowed, “I didn’t mean to try and start anything, Kare. Forgive me,” she nods, “...Have I ever told you about the Ilyassa?” She’s trying her best to change the subject--she genuinely hadn’t meant to start any kind of argument.

Avatar
Corrine’s eyes widened. “A weapon that strong… It could completely change the scope of the world as we know it. A person could rule by fear and make all other kingdoms and rulers bow at their feet. Legendary weapons normally have a test of character; and I dearly hope for all our sakes that applies to the Ilyassa.”
Image

“That’s why I’m a little happy it’s remained buried for so long. Although...” she bit her lower lip, “I...have an idea of where it is--and if I’m right, then it’ll be found eventually, and it’ll have to be moved to somewhere secure.”

She pondered with her hand against her chin. “Curious. Very curious. Dragons come in many shapes and colors where I come from, but they are all quite intelligent. I suppose a variety of dragons would insist in other places.” Eyebrows knitted as she wondered about why the Frostbacks she mentioned were so primitive in comparison. Could they be like the aggressive wyverns of her world?
“I am fascinated about your world. Please tell me more.”
Image

“Ah...I’m not quite sure what to say, honestly. There are legends saying that when the majeia--the source of all magic in Ralys--was still whole, the dragons were serpentine beasts who streamed through the skies, were ten times smarter than any human, and a thousand times more powerful. Of course, like everything in Ralys, that changed when the majeia was shattered.”

Avatar
He could only chuckle.
“And if you decided not to help them? Humans are too unpredictable for such things. Besides, why would that be necessary. Beings arrogant enough to call themselves ‘gods’ should have more than enough power without the use of webs.”
The assassin isn’t fond of how people are expected to worship, and respect them. And even if what she said is true, it doesn’t change the suffering still present in this world.
Image
“Or it’s us who help ourselves because they rarely will.”

Cinder’s brow creased as she fired back,

Image

“They didn’t call themselves gods--Tyne himself hated being referred to as anything more than a ‘general.’ We call them that to honor them, and because what they sacrificed for us was more than human, it was divine. I don’t mean to start preaching or anything, but...”

“I just think that, all things considered, they’re doing their best, just as much as we are. That’s just our gods, anyhow. Yours could be quite a bit more evil and apathetic.” she shrugs, “They can’t do everything--they didn’t make the world.”

Avatar
Corrine blinked, shock painting her expression. “The Ilyassa is really that powerful? I can understand why both sides are searching for it.” Her face turned grim, as though she was foreseeing unthinkable horrors. “If it fell into the wrong hands, the outcome would be catastrophic.”

“In case you’re curious, it holds roughly twenty percent of the original Majeia’s power--more than any of the gods combined. The Ilyassa, if it’s ever found, wouldn’t just make someone powerful--it would be their crown.”

It’s why most of us hope Tyne put some kind of test of character on the thing, because if just anyone can wield it...”

Avatar
“Oh, it’s happened for us too. But it’s rare and it only seems to be when the situation interests them,” he replied, glancing to meet her gaze.
“So they helped you. What about everyone else? All the horrors currently present. And please don’t ramble to me about how there has to be ‘good’ and ‘evil’ in balance.”
Image
“I’ve heard it all before. I’ve seen too many innocent people die. By my hand as well…”
Perhaps he should think himself lucky– If they were more involved a terrible punishment may await him. One already could be waiting at the gates of hell for a tainted soul such as himself.
Who knows?

“...Do you remember how I said, before, that I’ve done my best to help my people and where I came from? I like to think that the gods work in webs. By plucking one string, they can then affect others without direct and dramatic intervention. That’s the hope, anyhow.”

Image

“Because, otherwise, this all amounts to bullshit we make up as we go along, and that’s kind-of drab and nihilistic.”

A/B/O Starters!

“You are my beta, my most trusted, please understand that!”

“I don’t care who you are, I take orders from no one.”

“You dare to disrespect me?”

“I’ll put you in your place, omega.”

“I’m sick of not having a choice. When I was born an omega, all of my choices were already made for me!”

“I know that the law is unfair, but it’s just that, the law. You can’t fight it.”

“You can’t deny what you are!”

“Suppressing your heat will only hurt you in the long run. Those remedies don’t last.”

“I see you as an equal, I promise.”

“You want to fight me, omega?”

“An omega is good for one thing only, who cares what they think?”

“Stick close to me, we’re in foreign territory.”

“I don’t need to be protected every step!”

“I can see you’re struggling. Why fight me, when your body has already decided what it wants?”

“Not like this, I don’t want it to be like this, when my body talks instead of me!”

“Just relax, I’ll take care of you. It’s not just a responsibility, I WANT to.”

“I know you’ve been used, that isn’t my intention. I don’t want to treat you like an “omega”, I want to treat you like a person.”

“What’s the matter, bitch? Wander too far from home?”

“I wasn’t supposed to be an omega. My entire family treats me like an outcast in my own home!”

“I’m an omega, and I’m fucking okay with that. What’s wrong with being an omega?”

“You run fast, but you can’t escape me, or your calling. Accept what you are.”

“I can smell the slick, there’s no hiding, slut.”

“Wh…what are these scars?”

“An alpha with a brain? I’m impressed.”

“We’re too young, I don’t want to force my children onto you. You’re not ready.”

“Why did you take all of my jackets—are you nesting?”

Avatar
“The god my kingdom worshipped was never human, as far we know. Not that there are many facts to go on. Such is the way they are.”
Image
“Yes, you’ve told me all that before. It’s interesting, but I’m not one to care much for the gods. There are probably far more than we notice. Perhaps even the same one worshipped under a different name,” he shrugged.
“I don’t trust them.”

“In our case, it isn’t about trust,” Cinder shrugs, “The Galdur haven’t appeared since the gods pursued them through their dark portals, so we can only assume that the majority of the gods are holding off the Galdur. However...there are cases where the gods have intervened in mortal affairs.” Cinder looks Kare in the eyes now,

Image

“When the despots settled into Rossus’s leadership, the goddess of Cold and Water, Arqan, helped me ascend. She spoke through avatars, usually-- people with hexagonally-cut rubies embedded in their foreheads. And when I was fighting the King of Ardus, it was Tyne who showed me how to shatter the Black Ice, giving me visions of imbuing my blade with the flames’ energies.”

“I’m sorry your gods haven’t seen fit to assist you, Kare, but Ralys’s remember where they came from.”

Shivers.
“I can’t be held responsible for how I act without my limiter…” he chuckled, tone riddled with nerves.
It wasn’t technically him. And he’s using that fact to try and get out of trouble.
Image
“He didn’t have to fight me.”

Can, it. ‘He didn’t HAAAAFTA fight meeeeee’ is not a reasonable excuse, ya got it?!” The queen nearly took a swipe at him right then, but restrained herself, “I got enough shit t’worry about without havin’ta fret over you two tryin’a kill each other!”
