no one is going to write you a love poem. that’s okay. you’re too much of an artist for someone else to make art out of you. if they tried, it wouldn’t sit right on the tongue. you would run it through autocorrect, rewrite it a hundred times in your mind, not understand why no one can love you the way you love them—with golden words and melting leaves and better metaphors than red roses. (the rose isn’t red anymore) (stop painting the roses) (you have to let them die sometime) no one is going to write you a love poem because you would write a better one. because you still haven’t learned to write one to yourself. because you think you can only write a poem if there’s a reason. because you’d probably take one look at a love poem written for you and decide it was too much and also not good enough. because if you get too many love poems you’ll never bother learning how to write them. because if someone loved you like that, you’d never finish learning how to love yourself.

Everything goes to plan until one night, during which the King is mysteriously murdered. Jahzara, the prince and their friends decide to investigate ; but is this assassination a petty act of revenge, or part of something much bigger, linked to an incoming threat from the neighboring warlands of Varandar?

Only, a council of lords and kings, who already formed an alliance, gives them another task : to rally the remaining kings and sovereigns, so that all realms of the Enlightened Lands can fight together against whatever enemy is creeping towards them from behind the northern mountains...
