“It’s strange, little brother, to see you act this way. And for a child,” He taunts and Yoongi doesn’t miss the way he makes a point of bringing up your age. It was one of many moral issues that hung over his head when it came to you. Yoongi has always been a man of few words and yet he’s never been one to hide what he was feeling—there was never a need to, even in the dealings with his brothers. So it was no surprise he knew of Yoongi’s unease, at having known you since you were just a child, watching you grow and eventually fall in love with him—an immortal, the god of death.
Love was a concept that was beyond Yoongi. He believed in it, of course. He knew it to be a dangerous thing, one that made people throw caution to the wind, one that landed some a first class seat in his home. Yoongi however thought himself immune, he had seen too much, known far too well the evil intent some humans harbored. And yet he found himself longing, always with a heavy heart, to feel it. All of it. Romantic love, familial love—just love. There were days he found hard to wake, when his dreams were so beautiful it pained him to have to leave. Fantastical dreams where he was the giver of life and not a keeper for death.
“Your words mean nothing to me,” Yoongi says softly and it’s much to his brothers surprise that he means them this time, “___ taught me that. She’s taught me many things despite how little time she’s spent on this earth. Twenty five to be exact.”
“A newborn compared to you,” he scoffs.
“You’re right. And there was I time when I would resent you, had I not been bestowed with the gift of keeper of the underworld maybe I would have seen fewer days. Maybe my life would have been short and sweet as opposed to long and bitter,” Yoongi muses idly before pinning the man with a long, “but I assure you I would await another millennia of agonizing pain in a heartbeat if it meant I would get to meet that girl all over again.”
“I’m confused brother, I thought you ask me here to take her back.”
“I’ve come to tell you to speak to her mother. It upsets her deeply to see the fit she’s caused upstairs. Her gaze holds sorrow these days,” Yoongi mutters to himself, “the souls come in troves as a result of her mother’s winter.”
“Her mothers winter comes as a result of her and your foolish refusal to cooperate,” he glares at Yoongi.
“I will never force her to leave the underworld, so long as she wishes she has sanctuary with me.” Yoongi says firmly.
“Even if it costs the lives of mortals? You will continue with this?”
“I will stop at nothing if it means ____’s happiness.” Yoongi says bluntly—monotonously—his face blank as he continues, “I have never loved in my entire life. I have never fancied passing lovers as you and the rest of our siblings. I have no desire to toy with the hearts of humans and as a result of your twisted games I can bear no life of my own. ___ is the closest I’ve come to that and I will guard it—and her fiercely. I have never given you reason to be wary of me brother, but I caution you that if she so much as tells me your presence makes her uncomfortable I will make sure that your blemish of an existence is taken care of.”
“Threats come so easy to you these days I see.”
“You underestimate me, even now.” Yoongi notes, taking in his posture, “it works in my favor so I take no offense. But I’ll remind you once more before I ask you to leave—speak with Demeter and make sure my word is heard loud and clear: the girl belongs to me and I her so long as she wants me. I have never fought against you or the gods that reside on olympus but I will make sure the gift you’ve bestowed upon me is put to good use if you cause her anymore distress. There will be nowhere for you to hide from my wrath and I will not stop until every last one of you and your offspring is left for dead. I will bring plague and famine to the lands where your temples are built the highest, I will let them know that Zeus brought this on—you will be responsible for the deaths of thousands.”
“You will wreak havoc on innocents because the girl sheds a few tears?” He sneers and Yoongi’s expression is blank as ever.
“You’ve done worse for less.” Yoongi informs and his overall impartial attitude had always bothered the god. He was cool to the touch, never showing the slightest hint of emotion. But now? Now his words were steeled over with a burning hatred, even if his expression didn’t show it. “I promised her she wouldn’t know pain and suffering so long as she stay by my side and I will keep it. I don’t care if all you did was look at her strangely, if she asks it of me I will smite you where you stand.”
“You’re very bold these days aren’t you?” He grits out, “I would tread cautiously if I were you brother.”
“I will not. Not anymore.” Yoongi says curtly, “You May show yourself out.”
