Just want to say how proud of i am of america right now. Removing a dictator during a dictatorship is near impossible (typically it takes civil war or a death/ power vacuum) but for four years you’ve been fighting back and now you’re fighting a heavily rigged, horribly unfair election and not giving Trump that “landslide victory” dictators typically get. I want you to know that many of us across the world, see those 50/50 looking results and don’t see america as half and half but 30% cultists who were given an easy vote and 70% people who’s vote was very hard to get out (we saw the lines, we saw the fake ballotboxes) and often outright thrown away. We hear that more people voted for Biden than have ever voted for a candidate before. We see your judges fighting to have every vote counted and the diverse new congressfolks you’ve voted in. The narrative of a close race omits that one team had skates on a downhill road and the other had an obstacle couse littered with dirty needles, fences to break through, barbed wire to crawl under and rabid dogs blocking the way.

I actually needed to hear this I think. All I’ve been hearing for the last few years is how terrible America is and I know that reputation is earned but I and so many other people have been fighting this whole time because we love our country and trust our institutions and don’t want to see them fall and I know we’re not the best neighbors to have but we’re trying and it makes me so happy to see that someone, anyone, understands that we’re trying.

This post watered my crops, lowered my blood pressure, and folded my laundry.

don’t blame states that go red on people not voting and blame it on literal generations of gerrymandering and voter suppression and the whole ass electoral college that y’all barely have a grasp on.

black people in the south vote blue and get shadowed out by white people that vote red. and then the state turns red. and then people yell at black people and nonvoters, all while ignoring radicals/leftists/progressives in southern states working harder than your average Blue state citizen to flip senate/house/local seats in any way they can. and then those blue state citizens will make jokes about innocent people dying in hurricanes and natural disasters and dying at the hands of the very structures they claim to be against. im so damn tired.

This is the funniest and most thoughtful I’ve ever seen an organization use a meme and it’s good people with good goals who don’t just want your money on top of it

Sean Connery (1930 - 2020)

Waking up today with this really sad news. I loved Indiana Jones so much as a kid and his portrayal of Henry Jones Sr, made him my favorite character and one of my favorite actors. I started watching James Bond with my dad just to be able to see him. And his final movie, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, is still a classic for me. ❤️

Whenever I try to explain Repo! The Genetic Opera to someone, I’m just like “it’s a really pointed commentary on capitalism and medicine as a for-profit industry, with about 50,000 gallons of fake blood and, um, also it’s a musical? made by the producers of Saw?” like just watch this movie, I can not describe it, but it is an Experience and also Paris Hilton is in it and her face falls off, please this is one of my favorite movies.

I think the problem with Kermit is that it’s really easy to reduce him to a joyless jerk because his role IS being the straight man to a cast of bozos and he IS blunt and tired, but the thing is, he’s not a jerk hes a funny little frog.

Kermit is not a jerk, Kermit represents the exact feeling you get when one of your posts reaches over 100k notes and people keep adding the same bad joke on the comments

the reason why other ppl with learning/developmental disabilities can't read like they did in middle school & high school was because books were the easiest way to access serotonin & dopamine since you weren't allowed to use your phone, & they also gave you something to hyperfocus on as a means of mental escape. entering college & the adult world means you can freely use your tech so you can access serotonin/dopamine faster, making books seem less "interesting" in comparison when in reality your mind is just used to the instant gratification, which isn't bad at all. it's like making your own dinner vs ordering out.
