the fact that so few people know about the animated Return of the King really saddens me for a few reasons.

number one, the art style is fuckin BOMB i mean it’s a Rankin Bass for gods sake. do you see that crazy amount of detail?!!

number two, the soundtrack is a gift from god. where there’s a whip there’s a way is an absolute bop i recommend to everyone.

number three, it’s a really touching and moving movie. there’s despair, happiness, and an overarching theme of genuine love for each other. frodo at one point even daydreams about being friends with the orcs, and sam shows the importance of appreciating the little things in life.

furthermore, this movie helped shape my childhood and gave me a respect for 2D animation. it showed me the respect and love i should have for others, and to never give up, even in the face of extreme hardship and tragedy.

to all of you, please go fucking watch this movie. even if you don’t personally like it, you’ll at least have seen a movie that has touched others. :}

when you realize that park joong-gil was dragging his feet in getting home because when koo ryeon said ‘then at least we would have had a better end’, the only thing he contemplated was ryeon wanting a divorce because she was disappointed in him and him wanting to delay that for as long as possible, only to find out that the ‘end’ ryeon had in mind was a more permanent one because she was disappointed in herself…! the unthinkable hadn’t even crossed his mind! in wanting to delay what he thought was a divorce, he lost precious minutes that could have allowed him to save her again. poor bastard.
