trying to get back into reading in a non-english language and it makes me realize how much i've either forgotten or not ever known. grim
I think part of it is that for a lot of the time I was reading things, they were non fiction, which in a certain way has a different set of words. I'm missing a lot of descriptive vocabulary which is much more present in fiction - and also the language is more poetic which is maybe easier to get confused by in another language

the soft parts of hardcore/posthardcore and even lots of metal are typically like pretty similar genre wise, with a few exceptions and i was thinking recently like if there was more variety between them and like. You had like a soft build up in a screamo song or whatever that was like, celtic new age and i can't decide whether thats terrible or great.

I just finished The Maltese Falcon and to be honest with you, I think I have a definite preference for noir fiction in the first person - or at the very least a third person that attaches to a protagonist and talks about their thoughts somewhat.

Most noteworthy thing to me about the past few months in terms of geopolitics is that both the pro-Syrian gov't campists and the russiagate pro-ukraine people have been somewhat vindicated by recent events but in a U.S. political context those are completely opposed groups so it kind of cancels each other out
