Steve Rogers gets into twitter beef literally all the fucking time. His account has been disabled more than once because he’s threatened to dangle neo nazis off the roof of the Avengers Tower and then play catch with Iron Man using their bodies as the ball. Someone once told him to stop trying to get involved in politics and just stick to flexing his muscles and then Steve posted a video of himself shirtless and beating a punching bag w Donald Trump’s face on it and captioned it ‘I can do both you musty bitch’. It became the most liked post on twitter.

meta about everyones opinions reactions to dinah/ollie?
i wasn’t sure if you meant “everyone” as in people online or people in-universe, so don’t mind me picking one myself 🤧
there’s this thing people tend to do when they criticise dinah and ollie’s flaws as a couple where they put all the blame on ollie and none on dinah. and don’t get me wrong, ollie’s no saint (although he did not cheat on her, please stop buying into misinformation) but honestly? neither was dinah. and i also don’t get why that’s treated as a controversial thing to say - personally, i feel a flaw or two is a good thing for a character to have, it enriches them, and makes them feel more human. dinah has flaws! that’s not a bad thing in and of itself.
i’m not talking about all the times she’s hit ollie, here, because i think that’s less inherent to dinah’s character, and more just… this weird culture of heterosexism where, if a woman hits a man (even if she is an expert martial artist and he’s not good at hand-to-hand) it’s supposed to be funny or sexy somehow. that can def be put into context for sure. dinah having trouble regulating her emotions tho, it def is just part of who she is, and that’s again not a bad thing in and of itself but like - the problem starts when she lets that get the better of her.
like that time she and ollie fought and she went to flirt with ray palmer - who was much, much younger than her at the time, by the way - as revenge. or the thing with kaz - i don’t blame her for agreeing to go out with him when she didn’t know for sure where she and ollie stood with each other at the time, since he had just taken off without clarifying if they were on a break or not - but then like she was allowed to do that, but she didn’t give ollie a chance to explain re: marianne? to me it just felt like when she does it, she has a reason - but when ollie does it he must be out to hurt her and she should break up with him.
i def understand the tendency though, i have an anxious attachment style if not straight up undiagnosed bpd myself and sometimes when you have been hurt a lot in your past, you start to view all your relationships through an all-or-nothing lens, where because someone has done something irredeemable to you before you start to view every misstep by anybody else in your life as equally devoid of any mitigating characteristics whatsoever. that’s kind of how i feel her approach to ollie was then - just kind of her trust issues convincing her that she can’t give him a chance, but if she messes up then she self-victimises + reasons away her own mistakes.
i really think it adds a nice layer of complexity to their relationship, though. i just wish people wouldn’t ignore it, not just because it caricaturises ollie but also b/c it robs dinah of her agency as well.

since this is getting reblogs, here’s some panels that pretty much sum up dinah and her perspective on the mess at the time.
“i can’t share you with so many others” says so much - the core of the issue, for her, seems to be a desire to tie ollie down (no wonder, since he keeps. freaking wandering off gdi ollie), and that translates into possessiveness and… yeah, i’m gonna say it, paranoia. to say that marianne has “a part of [ollie’s] heart” or “he wouldn’t have been tempted” isn’t rational reasoning - esp since prior to this we just saw ollie, vehemently rejecting marianne’s advances. not to mention, shado “took” a child from ollie (read: she r*ped him) he had nothing to do with that and dinah knows this because shado flat out told her so & he certainly doesn’t have anything to do with roy having a kid, lmao.
controversial as it is to say… dinah did overhype this in her mind. mountains out of molehills situation here. and she reveals that at the root of it is her insecurity, at not being able to give ollie either marriage or a baby. i feel for her and i’d bet actual money that had a decent writer stayed on the title, dinah would have had to confront her own demons. making ollie the scapegoat through lazy retcons is such a cop-out for being too bland to give her an actual character arc.

Because AO3 is a hosting service. They don’t exist to police the content on their site as long as that content doesn’t breach the Terms of Service.
It’s an author’s responsibility to tag and rate and warn their fics appropriately. It’s a reader’s responsibility to read those tags and ratings and warnings and decide whether or not they want to read the fic. Anyone who isn’t willing to do their part probably shouldn’t be using the service.
In the wake of China apparently banning AO3 in the country, this post has been making the rounds on Weibo and now on Twitter. I thought I’d bring it back here, as well.
AO3 has a robust tagging system so that users can either find or avoid content. The site doesn’t moderate the content because the users do. If authors fail to tag or readers fail to pay attention to tags, that moderation slips and people are exposed to content they don’t want to see.
I love the fact that AO3 puts the power over what I see in my hands. I have control, not some faceless person and certainly not my government. I can see whatever I want to see and avoid whatever I want to avoid and every other user of the site can do the same thing.
This is a group effort, and if there’s anything that fandom is good at it’s banding together to get shit done. Tag your fics. Read the tags. Don’t be an asshole.
