The last tweet of Ukrainian paramedic Iryna Tsybukh says: "It's my birthday soon and I'm very proud that I made it to 26". She was killed on the frontline a few days before her 26th birthday.

there's this weird thing with ukrainian that sometimes is an advantage and sometimes a disadvantage and it's the fact that you can't describe human appearance with the word "brown". neither hair, nor eyes, nor skin. in fact there are completely different words for all of these. with hair colour you would usually use русий or русявий which is the "staple" hair colour because there are some specific words with english analogues that are not "brown". eyes are described with the word карий. as for skin colour, it's a bit complicated. there are words like смуглий or смаглявий (different realizations of the same root) which mean naturally darker skin, but it's also used for tanned skin, and in my experience the latter is more often. but you can actually differentiate! there's a word засмаглий where morphology implies a result of a process so it can only mean tanned. by the way a horse also cannot be brown, it's гнідий

[ID: Screenshot of a Twitter post by Jack Bernhardt @ jackbern23 that reads,

"Just FYI if a DJ or children's entertainer tells you to "make some noise", never make the most amount of noise you can the first time, because chances are they'll tell you that they can't hear you and you'll have to make even more noise"

followed by a screenshot of Tumblr tags that say,

"this reads like nicredibly tired advice from a 9 year old to a 7 year old"]

the reason why talking about russo-ukrainian war with foreigners is like talking to a wall is not even them denying anything. it's the outright refusal to acknowledge and factor in anything that is being said, no matter for what reason. it's not like there's anyone in the whole world interested what language russians use every day to dehumanize ukrainians into oblivion both on their state tv and in private interactions if not even daily bombings attract any attention. but there will be 20 people coming to explain why you're evil if you say something mildly mean about russians as if it's them who've been interacting with russians every day most of their lives and were forced to know their language and not me. and i know, not only ukrainians have that problem online. but it's like in the meme, "you realize that it's worse?"

please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

Guys. Guys please. We have to remember that protagonist is not a stand in word for hero and antagonist is not a stand in word for villain. Please. We learned this in middle school. The protagonist is the character the audience follows. The antagonist is the character who is working against the protagonist.
