The role of the guidance counselor in a school was generally seen as the same no matter what institution you go to, but Harrison felt students often have no clue what he's here in his little office for. When he's asked a few what they thought he did, it usually revolved around the concept of college; he's there to make sure they get into good colleges and become part of the workforce.

It's a bit of a bleak position if that's all he was meant to do. What people often fail to realize is that while, yes, college applications and getting the seniors situated for the next steps of their lives is a big part of his job, what he does for all students here is help.

"Oh, I've...I've heard you!" He remarks with a small chuckle. His arm outstretches to point to the hall outside his door. "I can sometimes hear you from in here. It echoes down the halls— can't make out what you're saying all the time, but you're certainly heard Orin." Hands clasp together and rest on his belly. "But see, let's say you're talking to Mrs. Fowler," A teacher that, although kind and fair, has been regarded by many students he's talked to as...a bit of a bore. Droning is a word he's heard used a number of times to describe her.

"And you're telling her, oh, you're class suuucks! This is so BORING! I hate this place!" He's making quite a show of pouting and huffing and rolling his eyes for this demonstration— he is a theater actor on the weekends, after all. "That's not something that I can help you with. For me, I need something actionable to work with."

"But see, if you told me, Mrs. Fowler's way of teaching is not working for me. I don't understand what she's teaching, I'm falling behind the rest of the class and it's making me upset and frustrated and worried about my grades...that I can work with. That is seriously affecting you. That lets me know the root of your problem and I can work with you on a plan to make sure it's solved."

However, Harrison suspects that Mrs. Fowler is the least of his problems. "And it's not just school stuff. Relationships, family problems, bullies— if you have a problem there, I can also help. A breakup or a problem with another student may seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, but they affect us a lot. They can distract you, make you want to lash out at others...I'm here to ensure all students are heard and have a space to speak freely about things that are bothering them and help them find solutions. No matter how small they feel the issue may be." And that was what Harrison was hoping to do here.

"Well, they did say you've been acting out more in class. Snapping at teachers, other students." And the nurse had mentioned suspicious bruising. And accusing a parent of something so terrible is not something to be taken lightly. Harrison just hopes he can get to the bottom of this. "And you're here so we can figure out why. So you tell me; what's on your mind? Honestly."

Orin could feel his eyes glaze over with disinterest, his eyelids feeling heavier and heavier with each word out of the older man's mouth. He didn't have patience for grown ups and all their stupid posturing and empty platitudes, but it was even smaller when it came to men. It wouldn't have mattered what Mr. Coen said to him or even how kindly he said it, Orin was set against him from the start. All that needed to be determined was who was more stubborn.

"You don't have to put on a voice and do....all of that when you're pretending to be me," Orin replied flatly, some light coming back into his expression as he spoke. He could have easily engaged with what Mr. Coen was saying in good faith, or well, maybe he could have in theory. But in reality? Orin had neither the desire nor the patience to engage with almost anything a person with authority over him had to say in good faith. Hell, neutral faith would have been an effort. "This isn't drama club, and I'm not giving that performance any awards. That's not even what I sound like."

Orin was ready to give another smart remark, but the mention of issues outside of school made him pause, his expression momentarily giving way to genuine surprise, maybe even hurt, before he forced it back to something almost calm, though maybe unamused was a more accurate description. His mouth a thin, straight, line across his face as he held the guidance counselor's gaze.

No one ever asked about home. It was always about school, about grades...as if they couldn't look at his records and see for themselves that his grades were fine. That he was perfectly fine except...Orin took in a deep breath, stopping those thoughts before they spiraled enough to show on his face. If Mr. Coen wanted to know about his home life he was going to have to do a lot better than that.

"I'm the bully, sir," Orin said curtly, not a drop of respect used as he spoke. "That's why I'm here. Broke Jacob Merriman's jaw because he said I was stupid. Everyone always thinks I'm stupid...not as stupid as his glass jaw." Orin crossed his arms over his chest, looking away as he continued, though his voice was lower, almost a mumble. "My grades are better than his too. He's the idiot."

Orin sighed, leaning back into the chair until he was slouching again. He looked up at the counselor but only for a second before turning his head to look at the door, tempted to just get up and leave. He was sure there was nothing Mr. Coen could actually do to physically keep him there, but for whatever reason he remained seated. "What's on my mind is figuring out how to get out of this office. Kinda hoped decking that kid would get me expelled immediately..."

Audrey had been staring off into space, her fingers absently looping through the curls in her hair when Orin drew her close. She blinked, momentarily startled and quickly she zoned in on what he was saying. She hoped she hadn’t missed anything - god knows how many times she’s refocused mid conversation and been tragically lost. As his words sunk in, Audrey’s brow furrowed the slightest bit and she felt her heart start to beat a bit faster. What had she done? Was it something particular he was hinting at, or was he just needling her for his fun? She knew she had to tread carefully, as if she was walking a tightrope trying to get to the other side of a canyon. Or who knew, maybe no matter what she said to appease him he’d find some reason to be upset with her.

“Oh hon, why wouldja think that?” She cozied up to him, resting a placating hand on his chest. She tried her best to seem like the normal doting girlfriend, despite the fear creeping over her. “Of course I wanna be with ya! I mean, where would I be withoutcha?” As she spoke, her eyes searched his face for any sort of reaction that would help her know what he was looking for.

Normally, her touch and gentle words would have been enough to soothe Orin long enough for him to decide to drop whatever odd notion he'd gotten. Calmed just long enough to have forgotten why he was getting agitated to begin with. He was not a man of very long attention span to say the least, but perhaps, it was because Audrey had made the mistake of asking a question...he had to answer didn't he? And if he had to answer, he had to think on it more.

And if he had to think more, he was bound to find something that was genuinely bothering him rather than whatever made up idea he'd conjured.

"Without me you'd be nowhere," Orin replied coolly, turning his gaze down at Audrey. She was always so very obedient, so sweet and so very very meek...he liked that about her, but he also couldn't stop himself from wondering if there was anything else going on in that empty head of hers. "It's just a feeling I guess, like you're keeping something from me." His eyes narrowed. "Like another guy or something."

Orin does actually quite like to dance, though he very rarely does it in front of other people. He's got a lot of energy, and sometimes that comes out in quick, little, victory dances or other such movements. In general he enjoys expressing emotions physically, and dancing is just one of the ways he goes about it. He gets so worked up sometimes that he just has to move, which isn't always a good thing to say the least since his need to move can also result in violence, but when he's happy or playing around it can manifest of a dance move or two. However, he's not exactly one to go to any sort of proper dance event, and when he is in situations where groups of people are dancing he prefers to stand on the sidelines and watch. Maybe he'll dance with someone from time to time, but don't count on it.

does your muse have freckles? if so, where are they placed? does your muse like their freckles, or wish they had some?

He does actually, but they're very light, so unless you're up close to him. And honestly, why would you want to be that close to him? They are on his cheeks, shoulders, and upper back, and were more prominent when he was a child/when he spend more time outside. He doesn't have any strong feelings about them, though he does suppose he's glad you can't really see them as easily anymore since he feels like them being more prominent would take away a bit from his tough guy look/persona. Who's gonna be afraid of a freckle-faced adult man?

does your muse get "hangry" when they haven't eaten in a while?

Yes, absolutely, he very much does. He's like a damn baby, and given he's already bad at emotional regulation, it doesn't help that he'll forget to eat. It definitely happens more at work than on the weekends since he's usually giddy and high the whole time and isn't thinking about food, but luckily, his secretary has been working for him long enough to know when he's on the verse of a hangry meltdown and usually packs a little something extra with her lunch to give to him. He may be bad at remembering food on his own, but he will absolutely take any and all food when it's offered to him. Even if it doesn't entirely improve his mood, he'll at least be taken down a few notches while he eats.

"You really gotta develop a sense of humor, kid," Orin sighed, shaking his head in the other's direction. He was hardly one to be giving out advice, especially to people who seemed maybe less than a little fond of him, but that didn't stop him. After all, the guy could use all the help he could get, and kinda guy would he be if he didn't give the pipsqueak a tip or two? It was the least he could do as the clearly superior specimen of...well, everything really.

Placing his hands in his jacket packets, Orin bent slightly at the waist to bring himself down slightly to Seymour's level. "You're gonna depress every last person who looks at ya if you keep moping the way you do. It's no wonder this place has no customers. It's gloomier than a morgue in this place, and they at least have dead bodies to keep things interesting."
