The base map is a Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter topographic map of Mars. The most obvious geomorphic feature of Mars is the dichotomy between its northern lowlands and southern highlands. There are three clearly visible impact basins: Argyre and Hellas in the south, and Isidis near the equator. The Northern Lowlands consists of the Vastitas Borealis, with three "bays" jutting south of that: Amazonis, Chryse, and Utopia Planitiae. The Tharsis Rise is a huge bulge on the equator associated with the three volcanoes of the Tharsis Montes. Three more volcanic provinces lie on Tharsis' northern edge: Olympus Mons, Alba Mons, and Tempe Terra. Elysium Mons is a lonely volcanic complex some distance away.

In the southern highlands, Noachis Terra is some of the most ancient terrain on Mars, the source of the name of Mars' Noachian period. Volcanic deposits in Hesperia Planum gave their name to the middle, Hesperian period. Some of the youngest volcanic deposits on Mars are located in the Cerberus Plains, on the flanks of Elysium.

Working on a SilMil Neph ficlet, but it has Jupiter in it, and it’s Mako’s birthday, so there are a few lines:

Nephrite and the Princess of Jupiter, as befit their duty as guards, followed their charges across the green lawn at a little distance: close enough to react to any threat, but far enough that -- thankfully -- when Princess Serenity squealed aloud in startled glee, it did not ruin either of their hearing.

Serenity clung the tighter to Prince Endymion's arm after, laughing aloud.  "I didn't realize!  It's so beautiful -- and the strut -- it's just like Zoisite!"

"And that's why he gets so mad when people call him that," Endymion agreed. "I thought it was because they were calling him all bulky and bumpy and green, like those little seed things --"

"Pea pods," the Princess of Jupiter murmured beside Nephrite. "Those are pea pods. She's been spending too much time with Venus lately."

The peacock they were watching rustled its fanned tailfeathers more vigorously, as if in emphatic agreement with Jupiter's pained tone.

Just logged on to SmackJeeves and found out that they’ve completely changed their whole platform to be more like tapas/webtoon. Including no longer having custom URLs, it seems? Or page design, so my design has been essentially scrubbed without warning. Perhaps those functions are now hidden behind a paywall. :/

I just had to tweak a bunch of stuff and I’m not even sure if it’s gonna show up for anyone else. This is… beyond disappointing. I was working on getting ready with an update (both for the comic and to explain why I disappeared, again) but now I don’t know whether to persist with SmackJeeves or just pack up and post everything to a new platform. Not like it would affect my older readers either way since they can’t find my comic through the old link any more.

Sorry. I had NO idea this was happening or I would’ve planned accordingly. I guess I’ll post here when I figure out what I’m gonna do and hope the word gets out to everyone. :/

This Map Lets You Plug in Your Address to See How It’s Changed Over the Past 750 Million Years        

The interactive tool enables users to home in on a specific location and visualize how it has evolved between the Cryogenian Period and the present

Some 240 million years ago, the patch of land that would one day become the National Mall was part of an enormous supercontinent known as Pangea. Encompassing nearly all of Earth’s extant land mass, Pangea bore little resemblance to our contemporary planet. Thanks to a recently released interactive map, however, interested parties can now superimpose the political boundaries of today onto the geographic formations of yesteryear—at least dating back to 750 million years ago.
The results are intriguing: During the Early Triassic Epoch, the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for example, was wedged almost directly adjacent to Mauritania, yet to be separated from the Northwest African country by the vast waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Ancient Earth, the tool behind this millennia-spanning visualization, is the brainchild of Ian Webster, curator of the world’s largest digital dinosaur database. As Michael D’estries reports for Mother Nature Network, Webster drew on data from the PALEOMAP Project—spearheaded by paleogeographer Christopher Scotese, the initiative tracks the evolving “distribution of land and sea” over the past 1,100 million years—to build the map…

I like the way you think, Anon.

But also consider this. The four of them can’t agree on the content of the channel. Zoisite only wants hardcore strategy games or completely obscure artsy stuff. Jadeite thinks the only kind of game that exists is FPS. Nephrite only wants to drive cars. Kunzite doesn’t want anything to do with any of this nonsense. 

So the only logical solution is to theme their channel entirely around a genre that none of them has any affinity for. But there are dozens of “angry gamer” channels, so just reviewing “games we hate” would be boring too. It has to be something neutral. Something nobody has had any reason to play and form an opinion about, but that would actually be fun for audiences to watch them go through.

So: otome games. 

Everybody is very skeptical at first, of course. Even Zoisite, who came up with the idea to begin with, is mostly sarcastic through their early videos, as four teenage boys livestream their attempts to navigate an anime girl protagonist through her magical shoujo love life. 

But very soon, they start to get invested in the games they are playing. They all have Opinions about the choices they are making. On-screen arguments take place. Of course she can’t date Shin! Only Toma is worthy of her affection! Don’t you dare press that button Neph, I swear to god I will shut this computer off.

For some reason, the channel is wildly successful. They’re getting invited to cons. They’re getting merch deals.

And then one such otome game maker approaches them. What if they had their very own game, in which their fans got to choose a romantic destiny with one of them?

And they call it Pandemic Love.

Rating: I forget what I actually rated it?  There’s some language and it’s me so basically you know there’s going to be at least some minor body horror at some point.

Warnings: Chose not to use archive warnings (some language, the aforementioned minor body horror)

Relationships: Sailor Mars/Jadeite, some suggestions of Sailor Mercury/Zoisite

Characters: Rei, Jadeite, Zoisite, Ami, Nephrite, some Mamoru and Kunzite and the other inner Senshi

Summary: The great threat against Earth is passing away, and the Senshi and Mamoru can begin to wake the planet from its long sleep.  Except that not everything on the planet is sleeping.  Chasing a missing Senshi, Mars finds that a handful of people have survived outside of Serenity's stasis crystals... Starting with Jadeite. And a dragon.

Sorry for not having this up earlier, RL descended upon me with crushing force in June.  I do not know if the artist who did art for this has a Tumblr, but THE ART IS FREAKING AMAZING GO LOOK AT IT GO LOOK ahem.  Written for the @ssrevminibang 2019.
