This isn’t going to sound very #girlboss of me but I just can no longer bring myself to feel sympathy for white women who feel “pressured” to appropriate black n brown features now that they’re en vogue when non-white and especially black women’s natural features have been targets of harassment and mockery for centuries. What did Voldemort even think of mcgonagall. We’re they in school together? What about her position in the school? Her rivalry/work relationship with snape? Just. Idk.

He was ten years older than McGonagall I think, so they didn't go to Hogwarts together. I'd imagine he didn't think of her much at all. More interesting to me, is that Walburga Black was a year younger than Tom, so they surely interacted. I head canon her as crushing on the handsome, older, popular Slytherin prefect

actually minerva should be older than riddle according to the fact she is involved in the grindelwald era. jkr sucks with numbers so i dont think we should accept mcgonagall's canon birthdate if shes a teacher in dates where she shouldn't even have been born. if my maths is good, which honestly i wouldn't trust it. minerva was born in late 1800s and didnt get to teach riddle.

i just read a post that uses these screenshots, so i’m gonna borrow them for here- it’s worth noting that years after this accusation happened and years after the accuser admitted that it never happened and that she was experiencing one of several psychotic episodes that led her to believe similar things, there are still people who not only believe it, but spread false accusations to others about a minorly famous singer-songwriter being an evil pedophile. there are even people who say that even though they know it didn’t happen, they still think mitski is a child sex trafficker because of it 

the whole thing was just really fucked up- not only assigning so much theoretical fame and prestige to this woman that people were convinced these accusations didn’t matter or couldn’t do harm to her because she was uberfamous (and that anyone who promoted skepticism about them was being an idiot celebrity worshipper), but also the way ‘take accusations seriously and don’t dismiss them out of hand simply because you like a celebrity’ so quickly got warped into ‘refuse to apply a critical eye to anything anyone says ever and immediately accept it as fact and spread it as much as you can’. 

a month after the accusations broke, she announced that she was moving out of public life and performed her last public show in years. there are people who still regularly publicly claim she’s a pedophile. people still regularly spread the unsubstantiated claim that she’s from a family of war criminals (her dad worked at an embassy.) like it’s talked about as this batshit part of tumblr history because to some degree it is, just because the levels of ridiculousness that the story took on, and the immediate fervor with which people adopted and spread it, definitely highlights some degree of mob mentality and unhingedness that you can find on tumblr, but it’s not just a funny quirky story. it’s a cautionary tale of a really fucked up thing that happened. 

God, as somebody that grew up in a largely jewish community, holocaust denial is like... so fucking weird.

Because I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t terrified of swastika’s, including when I was so young that I didn’t even know what a swastika was.

Because it’s such a strangely specific feeling to be born in the wake of a tragedy so massive that you can still feel it’s reverberations and were born with a weird sense of survivors guilt that will shadow you forever

Because when we were younger and our parents refused to tell us exactly what the holocaust was, we would trade our grandparents horrific experiences like they were scary stories across the camp fire, repeating them over and over to ourselves and eachother so we could figure out what it all meant.

Because I’d see those books with grey photos of Auschtwitz prisoners on the cover and feel like they were looking straight fucking at me.

Because every single Yom HaShoah you’d hear grade school children get up and say “my grandmother was the only one left of her family” or “they barely got out before it started” or “they managed to hide in an attic for months on end” or “my great grandmother managed to jump off one of the trains with her daughter in her arms” or “my grandfather has numbers on his arms but he won’t talk about it” or “my great aunt was shot just before the liberation so she couldn’t get out,” like it was normal.

Because we were always taught to run if we were in a group of non-jews that started making nazi jokes, to laugh along and then take the fuck off to stay safe.

Because the question always lingered over our heads, “what if it happens again? what if it happens to us?”

.... and them some stupid fucking college age white trash dickhead stands up and says “it didn’t happen” or “it wasn’t that bad” and I just can’t... fathom that? Like how the fuck wasn’t this part of your life? How is this not etched into your bones?

And its because it’s not. Like people didn’t grow up with this shit, some people can afford to deny the holocaust and deny antisemitism because it won’t hurt them.

It’s just... fucking wild.

first off, i don't want kids so if i end up having one somehow, i'll for sure call u and be like "hey i'm that tumblr bitch, bon appetit"

second, there's not a day that goes by that i don't mourn the loss of our fallen hottie. when he passed away, my 15 year old ass made a memorial wall of photos on the side of my 6-foot-tall bookshelf. u best believe my full respect goes to that man's memory. i never swear on my mother's grave, i swear on alan rickman's. he is the dad i loved that i never did get to fuck but wouldn't have wanted to anyway because i'm asexual. so don't worry, i'll be crying myself to sleep tonight too.
