Fans of the Goblin Emperor who don't read the Cemetaries of Amalo books for whatever reason, I have something to tell you that you all might appreciate: Maia has a few scenes in the last book of the trilogy, and it's set a year into his reign. There's a scene where Maia and Celehar are going somewhere, and a page boy is summoned to lead them there. While they're walking, the page boy chatters to Maia about how he and the other Drazhadeise page boys played a game the previous day against the Ceredada and Celehada page boys, and how they won against them, thereby "defending the honour of the Emperor's household." It's a very sweet scene and Maia is doing a very good job at being emperor, and he is very loved by his household.

i'm never not thinking about that one interview with kit connor and rachel zegler where kit was asked who his favourite love interest to work with was and rachel laughed and said "there is a correct answer by the way." And then without hesitation kit was like "joe will always hold a special place in my heart." 💀💀💀

So I have some news...
We are making a feature film to conclude the Heartstopper screen adaptation, based on Heartstopper Volume 6 and the ‘Nick and Charlie’ novella. We are getting to tell the end of the story!!! I’m deeply relieved and so excited about this new creative venture. I’ve written the script and we’re hard at work already. I know you’ll have a lot of questions, and I’ll be able to talk about it more very soon, but for now let’s CELEBRATE! Heartstopper is getting its ending!!!!!! 🍂

A silly, utterly inconsequential thing that caught me in Tomb Of Dragons.
Maia wearing amethysts. Twice.
Does that matter? Means anything? Likely not. And yet, that trifling detail won’t leave me alone.
Doylist explanation: KA didn’t feel like coming up with a different outfit for someone who isn’t the main character in the novel. Completely understandable. However, since when has she balked at meticulous descriptions of different clothes?
So.
In-universe possible explanations.
1) The edocharei have settled on Edrehasivar VII’s Signature Look. Grey and purple go together so maybe amethysts look nice with Maia’s skin. And a year in they have decided they can safely branch out from Traditional Pearls/Moonstones/Opals/Diamonds/General Whiteness to embrace other colors than Drazhada Amber.
2.a) Csethiro made a favorable remark once and Maia has seized on a chance to make her happy even in a small way.
2.b) They are a gift (maybe a betrothal one? I can see formal exchanges of gifts preceding a marriage in elven culture) from Csethiro herself and Maia wants to both make her happy and make A Statement that his future wife has his imperial favor.
3) Maia simply likes them.
In my head, in the last case, the edocharei burst in the kitchen/servant hall of the Alcethmeret in tears because: “His Serenity likes amethysts!” “He ACTUALLY SAID so! ‘These look very nice’!”
General bewilderment.
“We swear we’re not joking. His Serenity, entirely unprompted, has expressed a personal preference.”
General chaos, more tears, wild cheering.
“Break out the good wine and send a page to light some candles to Cstheio in thanks, it took a year but we have a second preference beside chamomile tea!”

I don't know if any of my followers have been keeping up with some of the funnier things that have happened this election, but my personal favourite is the state of the electoral ballot for Carleton, Pierre Poilievres riding. (Link goes to the wiki page for the riding.)

Is this an accessibility issue for voters with poor dexterity/eyesight/literacy? Yes.
Is it also funny as heck that he is so disliked by his own riding that they're fucking with him like this? Also yes.
