Some of us have lived through abusive situations like what Asra is putting the main character through, and can recognize that. Being brown doesn't make you a good person, and more than being straight does. I think that Asra is a deep character, but also a problematic one.

hoo boy. warning cause im ranting ahead

“some of us have lived through abusive situations like what asra is putting the main character through”

ok, number one, I’ve lived through abusive situations. im very well aware what an abuser acts like. asra keeping secrets in order to protect the apprentice does not equal abuse and calling it abusive undermines actual abusive relationships

number two, asra isn’t abusive. the arcana game developers themselves said it here  and here and here and this post is a good explanation to the whole stupid “uwu asra is hurting the apprentice uwu”

“Being brown doesn’t make you a good person, and more than being straight does.”

alright show me where i said that. that’s right, you can’t because I never said it!!! me saying “why do y’all hate brown people” refers to all the people demonizing asra, a brown masculine aligned person, for being so called “abusive” while at the same time stanning lucio and julian. must I remind you that our first meeting with julian was him breaking into our shop? must I remind you our first meeting with lucio was his ghost harassing us? i don’t see any posts daring to say how julian and lucio are so called “abusive”. maybe it has something to do with the fact they are, ya know, white men?

thats the problem with this whole “discourse” going on with calling asra abusive. its not discourse; its fandom racism. almost all the people i’ve seen who have called asra “abusive” are a. white b. romancing julian/lucio or c. both

everyone calling asra “abusive” aren’t actually concerned with asra and the apprentice’s relationship; they are grasping for reasons to hate asra to ignore their own internalized racism

of course, im not saying everyone who dislikes asra is racist. but if you call asra abusive and like julian and lucio, I suggest you take a hard look at yourself and ask yourself if you honestly think that.

New rule, non muslims can’t say the word jihad. Until you stop conflating a word that means personal struggle with faith and temptation with terrorism youre just not allowed to say it.

I’m not a Muslim but I just thought I would reblog this because I think it’s definitely worth listening to.

It’s totally okay for non muslims to reblog this, and i encourage it. Im just glad you’re listening.

Oh god, finally someone said it. Every time I see words like “jihadist” I want to scream, but I’m not Muslim, so I wasn’t sure I should say anything.

Jihad means struggle. It doesn’t mean holy war or anything like it. In fact, there is no word in Islam for holy war, because the nature of Islam does not leave room for holy war. Islam has a juridical system, not a Pope who can just say “Go wage holy war.” Conflating the personal nature of jihad with violence is so very gross and it needs to stop. Period.

Actually, there’s another word non-muslims in the media shouldn’t use:

Allahu Akbar. It’s not a statement of terrorism. It means “god is great”. It’s something we say to praise our lord. It’s what we say when we pray. It’s not a statement of terrorism. Allahu Akbar doesn’t mean terrorism stop using it as one

I would really appreciate it if non Muslims understood this

Umm. I'm sorry. I'm not sure how to ask this. But... I've read the Qur'an. I'm actually a practicing Muslim. I'm not a scholar of the faith or anything, but I know my stuff pretty well. And, the fact is, Islam is very much against homosexuality. I disagree with that aspect of it, but that's still definitely part of the religion. I can cite some of the passages, if that's needed, but basically, I'm just saying that it's kind of misinforming to say that "True Islam is pro-gay".

hiya anon

to start off, I never said Islam was a “pro-gay” (even though that term is gross cause it assumes that being gay is some kind of “issue” to take a political stance with) religion. My exact words were if you were religious, “you would know that this disgusting behavior (homophobia) isn’t tolerated”-which is true. Homophobia is a hateful act. As a fellow Muslim, I’m sure you know the many passages in the Qu’ran talking about peace and love to others. Many, many times in the Qu’ran it openly talks about doing good to others, and how is denying basic human rights good?

“Indeed, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred; and forbids indecency, and manifest evil, and wrongful transgression.” (Holy Qu’ran 16:91)

“Indeed, Allah is with those who are righteous and those who do good.” (Holy Qu’ran 16:129)

“The reward of goodness is nothing but goodness.” (Holy Qu’ran 55:61)

“A guidance and a mercy for those who do good. “ (Holy Qu’ran 31:4)

Furthermore, my post was specifically talking about those using religion as an excuse to be openly homophobic. The Qu’ran specifically says not to force religion on others (“There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.” (Holy Qu’ran: 2:256) ) And using your religion to deny basic human rights is directly going against Allah as demonstrated in this passage.

Now, I’m not super religious. From my understanding, the Qu’ran only talks about being gay with the story of Lut (Lot, Luut, other spellings) and even then there are a lot of arguments with the translation of those passages into English. Until I have a clear understanding (which I don’t think is ever going to happen because the Qu’ran was written to have many translations) I’m going to keep being myself and treat others like myself with kindness and respect.

to add on- don’t use religion as an excuse to be homophobic. homophobia is hateful behavior and if you were honestly Christian/Muslim/Jewish/etc you would know that this disgusting behavior isn’t tolerated !!!

anyway none of y’all are allowed to even LOOK at sean marcus gayle anymore because apparently you just can’t stop yourself from being racist !
like yeah no one is out here calling him the n word anymore ( but like ? the fact that it happened in the first place says a Lot about the kind of place this fandom is ) but when you say things like “these white men remind me of cute, fluffy dogs and the black man looks like a rottweiler on the attack,” and “he reminds me of a scary monster lmao !” those things have implications ! black people, especially black men have been stereotyped for hundreds of years as being ugly and dangerous and vicious, and those ideas still linger today. and when you say stuff like, “he looks like he’ll kill you!” you’re playing into and adding to that. just—god, it’s not hard to actually think about what you’re posting before you put it out there

hey so it’s disgusting that fans are being targeted and all and im disgusted with the cowards who hide behind anon but

calling jake or drake a “garbage white man” will NEVER be the same compared to what people of color and women face everyday. don’t you dare compare one person on anon calling your beloved character “an overrated white man”  to years of dehumanization, racism, discrimination, and more that poc have faced.

so, no,  “insulting people for liking a white male LI is just as sexist as hating on female characters” isn’t true and will never be the same in our day and age. they will never be the same because the most a white man will have to face (specifically based on the fact they are white/a man) is maybe one or two messages online. women and poc have to live every day of their life being treated like shit but!!

Not to start anything, but I’m sick of seeing these posts that say:

Maria = Estela

Caleb = Sean

Michael = Jake

Because honestly the only thing Maria and Estela have in common is that they’re Latina. The only things Caleb and Sean have in common is that they’re black and play football. The only things Michael and Jake have in common is that they both wear green jackets. And if you think that that’s all it takes for them to be ‘exact copies’ or ‘basically the same’ then you really aren’t looking hard enough at who they all are as indiviuals.

I can go into extreme detail about this too, as I’ve noticed a few others in the fandom have, but I won’t because this would get super long, lol.

Imagine with me, for a moment, that you’ve never seen a burned-out lightbulb. You’ve never seen one, so you assume that lightbulbs always work. You have no reason to assume anything otherwise.

Until you encounter people talking about burned-out lightbulbs. But rather than listen to them, you assert that the burned-out lightbulbs don’t exist. You’ve never seen one, so it doesn’t exist, right?

And people start to tell you about how they do exist. People talk about having their own lightbulbs burn out. “I’ve watched a streetlamp burn out right in front of me,” says one man. A lady says, “I’m a janitor. I spend my life replacing burned-out bulbs.” “I have a master’s degree in electrical engineering,” says someone else. “I know how lightbulbs burn out, I’ve observed and tested them burning out, and I’m working on a project to make lightbulbs that don’t burn out.”

But you ignore them all and insist that lightbulbs always work perfectly fine.

And it goes on. People send you photo and video evidence that lightbulbs burn out, but at this point it doesn’t matter. Someone could point to a dead bulb in the ceiling right over you and you would refuse to look up. Why bother looking up when burned-out lightbulbs aren’t real?

That’s absurd, isn’t it? To refuse to see, even though the evidence is there? Even if science hadn’t been done, or the science was flawed, burned-out lightbulbs still exist. The fact that the bulb doesn’t work is not altered by whether you see it or not.

Now, to continue the illustration: take the idea of the burned-out lightbulb and replace it with something else.

Sexism. Racism. Homophobia. Ableism. Anti-Semitism. Fatphobia. Gender binarism. Transphobia. Biphobia. Ethnic discrimination. Aphobia. Stereotyping. Animal testing. Child abuse. Islamophobia. Suicide baiting. Literally any bad thing that happens in the world, fill that in for the burned-out lightbulb.

It’s okay to not know it exists at first. Your life is short; you might not have experience in that area. But once you hear about it, and people are saying that it’s a problem, it’s not right to assert that the problem doesn’t exist. And especially after you’ve heard and seen evidence that something exists, and heard the words of people affected by it–even if the only “true science” on the subject is flawed, but people are still talking about the problem–then it becomes absurd to continue to insist that it’s not real.

Your personal experience is limited. The tiny piece of the world you inhabit is limited. The amount of time you’ve spent on the earth is limited. Everything about you, including your perspective, is limited.

You may not have ever seen a burned-out lightbulb. And you may not have ever seen some of the things listed above. But people are talking about them, and saying they’re problems, and if you refuse to accept the problem as a problem you’re going to hit a point where continuing to assert the problem’s non-existence will be utterly foolish and absurd.

The problems might not all be as obvious as a burned-out lightbulb. But don’t disregard someone who’s telling you the problem is there.

You not seeing it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

it has been a while since the release of high school story but I actually got through the book cause I wanted diamonds and i saw a post floating around about things that actually happen in high school and I decided to make one too cause im currently a junior

  • my school has…a lot of furries. im not joking. a girl in my AP Psychology class literally wears her tail, ears, and contacts to school everyday. its allowed in dress code. please sen d help
  • so someone body slammed a window and broke it and my school was too lazy to fix it so they duck taped a piece of cardboard over it for TWO MONTHS
  • so freshman year my english teacher mentioned that he used to be in an emo band and me being the ugly bitch I was FOUND the video of his bands performance and HE WAS THE LEAD SINGER. HE STARTED SCREAMING “FUCKKKK” IN THE VID it was the funniest thing and i found his myspace from ten years ago and mentioned it to him. i never told any of the students but he still looks scared whenever i see him. (don’t come @ me im a better person now. maybe)
  • some kid brought a fan to school. not a tiny hand fan or anything, but like one of those 3 foot fans you plug in. it was winter. he didn’t even plug it in he just carried it around?
  • a weeaboo came up to me and told me he “liked spicy latina girls like me”  (IM ARAB) and he wanted to be my “sexy pet slave” during lunch and i started crying
  • in pre-calc the other day my math teacher drew a circle but this kid got really mad (???) yelled “that’s a god damn oval!” and WALKED OUT
  • a student hacked the internet at my school (zahra is that you???) and shut down the internet at my school for a WEEK
  • this happened not at my high school but at @zahranamazi ‘s school but someone put rotten milk cartons in peoples lockers, threw rotten eggs in the stairwell, glued salami to the mirrors (I HAVE A PIC) and also chocolate sauce in the basement
  • speaking of eggs at a pep rally someone brought a dozen eggs to them and threw them at the crowd and teachers/staff. who tf carried a carton of eggs around the whole daY
  • someone runs a meme account about my school. who are you mysterious person and stop photoshopping the principal’s head onto gorillas she is tryING HER BEST
  • ok i’ll add more when i remember more
