One of the worst things about the pandemic is not knowing when I’ll be able to see my parents again. I miss them desperately. This old song from Disney’s The Rescuers goes out to anyone else feeling similarly 💔

If anyone has followed me here for a while, you may remember posts from me whining about living in a shitty, overpriced Boston basement apartment. After a few years of scrimping and saving, my husband and I finally bought our first home about 20 miles outside of the city!!! We close this week 😊
I can’t believe we managed to pull this off with the pandemic. It was not easy. We attended some of the last open houses in the state before everything shut down, and those last few houses all received multiple offers (we actually put an offer in on one of those, and we lost to a higher offer - mind you our offer had already been over asking). We ended up with a house we had fallen in love with early on but walked away due to some repairs it needed. In the end, we went back to that house and got it for a price significantly under asking (no small feat in the Boston area, trust me!).
Hilariously, we are now responsible for finding tenants to take over this apartment (landlords in Boston are particularly awful when you break a lease, which I guess is their right). The landlord is also raising the rent $600/month and not doing any updates or major repairs, so that’s not helping us find tenants. It’s really just the final kick in the balls we need from this place.
Anyway, onward to homeownership, oh goodie!
