Basic Advice on Commenting

As we've all heard it and said it many times, fic authors and other artists covet comments above all. A like ain't bad. A reblog is better. Reblog with a comment is the first hit of a high to the brain, and an extensive comment is a line of cocaine.

This is being repeated constantly, where by the art of repetition and ever-thickening fonts we try to desperately plead to the readers.

HOWEVER

@acidcasualties thank you so much for this, you've captured everything so perfectly and articulately in your post!

The only thing I'd like to add to this is from my perspective as a newer writer:

As someone who's (slowly) getting back into creative writing comments can be incredibly useful in helping me in my writing journey (and they can really benefit you as a reader too!)

Aside from the obvious joy it brings me to read a comment, its also always both interesting and beneficial to my future writing; whenever someone points out a particular section of one of my pieces it allows me to know that that particular part works well and either writing a similar situation or in a similar style will be worthwhile and well received in the future. Especially if multiple people are to mention the same part respectively.

As such comments are an incredibly useful tool, they allow us writers an insight into the readers mind, which parts you really enjoyed and which parts to avoid or come at from a different angle in the future.

Also this can really work in your favour as a reader, if you love a particular trope or scene from one of your favourite writers fics, and would like to see more along a similar line in the future from them, they're so much more likely to write something similar again in the future if people have commented on it! (At least this is the case for me and a few others I've spoken with in the past, it will obviously vary between individuals!)

Pretty sure I have to be mopped up off the ground after reading this omg this entire piece was just so delicious and hot and had me melting into a puddle the entire way through.

This was the part that had me putting my phone down and deciding to finish the story when I got home instead because when I tell you this sent me on an entire face journey while I was out in public 🫠🫠

Man was putting on an entire sluttish display of his fingers and I gotta run laps from the thots spiral it sent me into reading this. And "different set of walls he could be stroking" sent me straight into space because that is just 100% accurate thotting on Reader's part 🥴

The mental image has me flopping around right now in my house wanting to go straight into thotty dreams territory in hopes that Pottery Instructor Loki will be waiting for me when I get there. And the smut dear God I'm going to expire and evaporate from how absolutely delicious the smutting was 🥵

You built up the tension between them since their first meeting and the way that they finally came together (pun fully intended) just felt so organic, especially the way they both became so playful in the end now that the tension's all gone and all that's left is mutual hornies and both of them clearly wanting more. 🫠💖

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, and it still blows my mind sometimes that people have actually read the stuff I've written; especially since I've yet to be able to bring myself to read anything I've written once its posted so it still seems mental that other people would!

A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.

Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.

What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.

Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.

What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.

Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.

What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.

Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.

It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.

Despite protestations, Steve had set up a perimeter and concocted a list of bird-themed call-signs. He walked thirty meters ahead of you and Loki.

Every ten paces, the captain spun in a shifty circle and beckoned you on. “Oh, for goodness sake,” Loki grumbled as he re-hoisted a limp Colin Robertson across his shoulders. The man was drooling on him.

I've finally had the chance to catch up with this series this evening and my god.... I'm well and truly speechless.

Whilst your works always stun me with their excellence (and I hope you know how much they do) this time all I can say is that you've well and truly outdone yourself!

All throughout there is of course your signature, and always on point, comedy - particularly in the relationship of Thor and Loki, and of corse your truly top-tier sexy shenanigans that never fail to hit the spot, and certainly haven't this time.

I think though with this series though it's the depth of the emotions behind it all that truly hits me. In particular the humility of Loki, especially at the end of this chapter, truly resonated with me. I don't fully know how to describe what this invoked in me, but the way you convey his mental struggles and his self-awareness that comes with his realisation about the time in the cabin well and truly struck something within me, the rawness and realness of it and how beautifully you wrote it is nothing short of incredible.

The ending in the restaurant as well left me with an incredible warm feeling inside that I know will stay with me for the rest of the night for sure (and I can't tell you how much I really needed that today so thank you so much). His willingness to put in the work to improve himself and go against his ingrained nature stands out as such an important point to me, going against something that is so notoriously part of his nature because he recognises how much it hurts his love is so beautiful. I worship your brilliant mind for not only coming up with these ideas, but always writing them in such an articulate, moving and incredible way!

You'll certainly have me thinking about this Loki and this series for many days and weeks to come ❤️

Genius! Loki's castle sounds amazing, and potentially ground zero for some excellent magickal story telling connecting crazy lore of the MCU with the lore of Norse mythology and stealing some lovely biology facts! @peacefulpianist I am actually doing a story mentioning some single-cell organisms in hopefully a funny manner, so this will be excellent :D

The tiny two story building sat before you, twisting wisteria claiming rough stoned walls. Burnt orange leaves sparked against the morning chill, rooted into windowsills and crumbling brickwork.

It was small. Really small.

You stretched your legs, observing Thor waddle from the car, laden with suitcases.

One fell.

omg I can't tell me how much I loved this! The intrigue over what happened between 'us' and Loki has me hooked! I can never get over how well you write the interactions between all the different characters (well lets be honest how incredibly well you write in general), whomever they may be, and how you always keep them so true to character too! I could rant about how much I love your writing for hours on end, but to save everyone from my idolatrous ravings I'll summarise it as if you only read one thing today make it this, I can most assuredly promise you that you won't regret it!
