Umm. Hi. I... I found the email and password to this in my big brother's draw.

I'm sorry if you knew him well but, he's gone. Only just this past week but still... I think he wanted me to say his goodbyes because you guys talked him out of it last time.

Again, I'm sorry we couldn't - I couldn't do anything sooner. I'm sure you're all nice people and I know he would want you to be sad.

Definitely not Em. I don't know who you are or if you'll read this but he mentioned you personally in the note and wanted someone to tell you he's sorry.... He doesn't want you to be sad. Not for him. He said to find something worth being sad about. Like the fact your ship won't sail now.. heh, he was always trying to make jokes..

Ok... Umm... I don't know how to end this so I'll do it suddenly and awkwardly. Again, sorry.

Stone Can Crumble (Closed)

Jim balled his fist in frustration, there seemed to be some competition for his empire. This threat had no name or voice or shape that Jim knew of and that is very frustrating to Jim, the man who needs to know everything about everyone in the London underworld. So much as buy a pen from a store he owns and he’d know all. So how in the hell has this one person gotten through the cracks?

Jim had been annoyed about this little issue for good on a week before he got an odd caller at an office block he had rented out for the week...

Jim thought over the past few moments as he watched Cameron get her own tea. He couldn’t help but smile. Someone once said that his breakdowns aren’t healthy but it’s probably the most healthy thing he’s done since he decided to start eating dinner again. He began thinking back on every time he met Cameron, since the first day he saw her in the park. He’d always been interested in her and how she thought but now there was something else and it was bugging him a bit. Jim knew what that something else was but he’s terrible at controling it. Love was always so damn tricky to deal with so Jim tried to avoid it but you can’t kill a feeling. Not once it’s made a home in your heart. His thoughts were plainly written on his face as he was too busy thinking to control his expressions

Jim smiled, glad for the kind thought but also, “I can’t guarantee either of those things no matter if I go or not.” He chuckled, making light of the fact he basically said that no matter what they are both always in trouble of being killed at every moment. “Mostly I can’t vouch for my own safety. I am, as you are aware, a bit of a trouble maker.”

Cameron puts on a serious look. “If you refuse to go, you put yourself in a significantly more dangerous situation. As much as I would prefer you to not be a criminal consultant, I’d much rather you be alive and make a plan before you start skipping or quitting- especially if it’s on my account.”

As an after thought, she adds, “Besides, you’re coming back to sleep on my couch anyways, remember? I’ll be here.”

Jim rolls his eyes somewhat playfully, “Well, duh but I’m procrastinating.” He sarcastically sighed and pouted as he grabbed his jacket and fully re-clothed, shoes included. He couldn’t help but be a little bit excited to go back to work as he went over in his head a multitude of possible outcomes, most of which including someone getting shot. That was the fun bit afterall. But he realled himself in a bit, not wanting to even slightly weird Cameron out, despite him thinking tht it was impossible to weird her out anyway.

She grins despite herself as Jim pouts. “Hey,” she says, picking up Jim’s shirt, tossing it to him. “You forgot something.” She smirks, pretty certain he wouldn’t want to be caught without it on- especially at work.

Jim only just caught the shirt, “Thanks,” He laughed slightly embarrassed at himself. “You’re a life savour.” He hurriedly put it on, fumbling with the buttons.

“The joys of having to look at least some what with it for work.” He mummbled, re-putting on his jacket after making sure his shirt was neat.

Cameron finally turns around as she brings the tea to her lips, but she stops short when she noticed his expression towards her. “What?” She can feel herself starting to blush in self consciousness.

Jim was pulled out of his thoughts by her voice. He started to blush as well at being caught like that. “wha- oh, nothing… I was just thinking…” He smiled slightly and sipped his tea.

“… what were you thinking?” She hesitantly inquires, hoping she’s not going to embarrass herself to no end.

Jim just blushes more, right… “Well.. I was- I was thinking about you.” His voice was soft and quiet as looks to the floor, ready for the backlash of excuses why she didn’t like him. “I was just- you’re really nice and- well..” he was stumbling over his words a bit his voice getting progressively quieter.

She can feel herself turning 50 shades of red, and yet, she cant help herself asking. “And…what?” Shes completely holding her breath in suspense of his answer.

Jim takes a deep breath, put his tea down and met her eyes again, “and well… I was reflecting on our time together and i really like spending time with you. I really like you.” Jim was a little flustered, he sounded like a school boy for god’s sake. “What i mean is…” He rolled his eyes at himself and decided to throw all sense he had out of the window. He quickly leaned forward and kissed Cameron. It was very quick, almost as if it was never there. When he pulled back he blurted a small “sorry.”

Needless to say, she’s shocked and almost literally took her breath away. It takes her a moment to even really register what just happened.

When it does finally begin to hit her what happened and that he apologized in the first place, she puts her own tea down. “N-no…” She gently takes his hand in hers again and looks at their now interlocked fingers. “Don’t apologize.” She cant believe she still feels like a nervous wreck even though she knows he feels the same towards her.

Jim was shocked that he hadn’t been rejected. He guessed she felt the same but somehow this was still a shock. He couldn’t find the words to tell her how relieved he is, or how happy he is, so he just smiles. A big, goofy, adorably awkward, lop-sided smile.

She silent, still looking at their hands. “I’ve never been kissed before…” she says softly. Which explains her nervousness.

Oh that’s adorable… “I’ve never been the first one to make a move. I guess there’s a new chance for everything.”

Cameron smiles shyly. “Yeah…I guess so.” She stays standing there, realizing she doesnt know what to do with herself now. She can feel color rising to her cheeks.

Jim smiled, he always found Cameron adorable but now he didn’t have to put a cap on his emotions he was noticing it a lot more. “right, so what’s the plan now?” He asked with a chuckle, not really knowing if he was asking about the long run or just what they were gonna do for the next few minutes.

“I…have no idea…” She admits truthfully. She glances around but does know if she should even take ger hand back or not or what even though she still has tea but would it be reduced to strained conversation if she goes for her tea? She just doesnt know. She’s never been in this situation before…

Somehow, a bit of logic enters her mind, realizing she should probably take a step back. It’s way too soon for them to be so intimate for so long. Especially for her. And especially since he is still shirtless. So, Cameron does, actually, take her hand back and puts a little space between them, never having glanced up to meet his gaze. She takes a breath in effort to find herself again. “Sorry,” she says softly. “I just…” she trails off in attempt to word the thoughts in her mind. “Let’s take it slow, please.” He isn’t the only broken person in this room. She has her needs and reservations, too, so, unlike him, she still continues to try to keep a cap on her thoughts and feelings.

Jim smiled shyly, despite not being too happy about the removal of her hand.

She seemed to snap him out of the softened state he was in from his nightmare. “You’re right.” He retracted his hand to his side and laughed softly. “We can take as long as it needs…”

The room quieted down again… It was a tad awkward. There were only a few more beats of silence before Jim’s phone rang loudly.

He laughed through a sigh, “oh come on.” He looked at the screen a bit trying to recognise the number before it hits him. “Work. How delightful.” He said sarcasm dripping from his voice.

Cameron gives a half-awkward chuckle. “You should probably get that.”

Jim gave an apologetic smile before answering.

“what is it now?” He asked dropping any kind tones he previously had.

The caller stuttered as he was telling Jim he was needed for some meeting or whatever.

“is anyone else available to pretend to be me?… Alright.” He ended the call and tuned his attention back to her. “Ya know what, sometimes I just don’t feel like I’m the boss.” He joked with a small laugh.

She gives a slight chuckle and kind of bites her lip at his little joke. “That’s why they say they customer is always right: They are the true bosses of any establishment, it seems.” She looks at him, trying to figure out exactly what their new dynamics are, if she has earned the right to be more… familiar. Deciding she should keep her space, she her leaves it at her simple observation remark for now.

Jim laughed slightly before his face fell a bit again. "I should probably go to that meeting but then again, I want to stay with you." He sighed heavily and grumbled a bit as he mentally weighed the options.
