Just dropping in to tell y'all about how I've gotten into D&D and then disappear for a couple more years.
My partner and I started playing about a month ago just with him DMing and me playing, and let me tell you, it makes for a wild fuckin campaign, especially when his philosophy is "I don't care if you break my game so long as it's funny".
Enter Hazel, a recently-divorced warlock (whose goblin warlock ex-husband may or may not have sacrificed him to Ghaunadaur):
Our first campaign was Lost Mines of Phandelver, where the first thing you're supposed to do is fight goblins. Let me tell you, I did not do that. I immediately seduced several of them, who killed the ones who wanted to attack me, including one who became my travelling companion. His name is Flopp.
The goblins and I ate the guy who was supposed to be my guide to Phandalin. Along the way, I picked up Bigg, Pretty, and Droop:
Also picked up some orcs, a drow elf being puppeted by my Great Old One patron, a very unwilling warlock, and a human teenager who's pretty handy with a crossbow, and is basically only in our party because she and her orc boyfriend have a whole Romeo and Juliet but with better communication thing going on.
This is the most fun I've ever had, and I can never ever do it with other people because my playstyle is basically "cause as much chaos as possible" and I hear that's generally frowned upon, but for a 1-on-1, it's pretty excellent.
