WIP of my new OC Kaitheros Valran. A warrior chosen to be sacrificed by his nation to become a powerful guardian beast meant to secure his people's everlasting prosperity during an oncoming war -- only for him escape as the ritual nearly completed.

His nation was about to go to war, not for noble or just reasons, but because old powerful men wanted to enrich themselves at the expense of the every day people. Kai was able to talk himself into believing his sacrifice could be worth it, because it might save lives in battle.

Then in the midst of everything, he realized he was about to sacrifice his humanity, identity, and agency for a nation that saw him as just a weapon. His last memories were of his own people attempting to recapture him, heedless of any damage they did so long as he was alive.
