Ramadan tips and tricks♥️

Here are some tips and tricks I find helpful druing the holy month:

  • Break your fast with dates and water, and then something warm like warm milk or soup, veggies and then the heavy meal if you feel like it right away. Personally i prefer to stop after the soup, and save the heavier meal for a bit after praying so that i dont put too much pressure on my digestive system right away.
  • Eat enough!! Don’t use this month to lose weight, of course, learn to control your intake but don’t eat below your recommended calorie intake as it will make you tired and grumpy during the fast, AND is terrible for you metabolism.
  • Avoid salty and fried foods as they make you thirsty the next day.
  • Shower before Iftar so you’re clean and ready to pray right after breaking your fast
  • If you use makeup, try to wear less makeup than you would usually. It helps you to try and force your inner beauty out and in turn makes you a lot more confident day by day. I used to apply every product but now i just stick with light foundation, a bit of setting powder and mascara. (Sunscreen is important regardless)
  • Do a light workout before going to sleep so you give your body a chance to digest so you don’t sleep with a full stomach.
  • Try to drink at least 4 glasses of water from iftar to suhoor
  • Try to watch or read things related to the holy month of ramadan instead of binge watching youtube for hours.
  • Be in control of your tongue. Be extra careful if you get mad and want to snap at someone. Be kind and try to be more patient with everyone around you.
  • I know there’s debate about this, but I brush my teeth after suhoor right before fajr and when i wake up the next day, while fasting. I just make sure to not swallow any water or toothpaste. Bad hygiene and smelling isn’t really good islam-wise either. The prophet used miswak, so i don’t personally see anything wrong with keeping your mouth clean during your fast as long as you’re able to brush your teeth without swallowing anything.
  • Use deodorant. A lot of people try to avoid perfumes and since a lot of deodorants are perfumed they avoid that as well, but please do. It’s so much better than to smell like sweat.
  • Days can seem longer when we’re fasting, and when you’re not studying, working or preparing for iftar, you should keep your room/house tidy. It’s a good habit to form during this month, it keeps you busy and it makes you feel productive.
  • Do small guestures of kindness whenever you can. Whether it be letting someone with less groceries than you go in front of you by the cash register or just smiling to strangers. I prefer to buy something like a snack or a meal to homeless people if I see them.
  • Try to better yourself day by day during this month, and try to keep up with your good habits even after this month is over.

Have a wonderful and blessed month ♥️ May your fasts and prayers be accepted

291 | I am working on an essay and I decided to hand write my first draft and it went…weirdly well??? Way fewer distractions and it took me about an hour just to get the first draft out. I mean it’s a ROUGH draft, but at least I have something to work on. Maybe this is how I will write my papers now?? I’m weirdly shook

why are non-millennials so personally offended by everything? like if i’m still wearing my jacket indoors, it’s because i’m cold, not because i disrespect your home/your classroom !! if somebody has got your order wrong, it’s because they’re very busy and simply made a mistake, not because they’re trying to jeopardise your meal !! if somebodies phone rings during a meeting/lecture, it’s because they accidentally forgot to put it on silent, not because they want to disrupt your speech !! just calm down, sharon, not everything is about you

my personal favorite is when you yawn and they’re like “am I boring you?”

like bitch i’m running on five hours of sleep and chronic anxiety

forgive yourself. whether you fail a test, eat too many cookies, say the wrong thing, fail a class, or spend a whole day in bed — learn to forgive yourself. the next day will be better. the next day will be a day closer to your next success. you can do it.
