Been a while since I uploaded any animation, so here’s some fire

short loop of water being splashed back and forth. This was pretty challenging to make read with my self-imposed limit of using only a solid brush, but its been fun trying things with that limit.

Another hour long water splash, going to keep iterating but change it up this weekend

another quick test, not as happy with this one but still having fun

2 splashes I limited myself to an hour apiece on. Might clean them up but I had fun with the time limit and looseness so I might just keep doing scratch tests like this until I get my animation feet back under me.

Final version. Some parts I like, some parts I don’t. Going to focus on more graphic animation for a while to try and focus on the movement instead of the rendering.

Last update of this in-progress, about 70% through the tie-down pass. Hopefully get it cleaned up and colored by Sunday when i’ll post the final version.

Re-timed the secondary splash and continued roughing this. I’m liking it a lot so far

Rough water splash I started working on tonight. I plan to take this one through colors and compositing but it still has a way to go for that.

Hardly animated at all these last couple years. Desperately missing it. Started back up tonight, maybe this can kickstart me out of my slump back into animating for fun. Just some smoke for now, might try something more ambitious tomorrow

Been using D&D to keep me from going crazy during covid. Curse of Strahd campaign i’ve been DMing for the last several months just wrapped with a 3 hour battle that finished cinematically with a crazy critical hit opportunity attack  with the sunsword followed by the finishing blow of a magic greatsword pushed through the head of another important enemy that my party decided to keep into Strahd’s surprised face. Memorialized a few of my favorite moments with some sketches.

Bit of progress on it today, still rough but cleaner rough. Film is planned to be from the perspective of the fire, so the firefighter is supposed to be scary. For a first test, and some of the only animation i’ve done in months, i’m pretty pleased with it so far. Definately going to need an actual model sheet for the character though

Finally after a couple years am getting around to doing studies for the film I want to do. Only Keys and some breakdowns here but I like the movement i’m getting. Going to have to do a bunch of these before I will be confident to animate this character for a whole short film though.

Smoke Exercise

Working on some simple animation exercises to try and get back in the swing of things and shake off some of the rust from 2 years of not animating much. Not posting most of them but I liked how this one is coming along so far despite being pretty short. I might take this one to resolution, inbetween it, then color/shade/comp it if I still like how it looks tomorrow. Need to do some finished work if I want to actually get back to where I was before.

Continued working on it, I’ll post progress as I work on it more. I’ll aim to have this done on Friday, havn’t decided if I want to actually have it resolve or just fade out

Cat turned off computer and I lost all the work from Update 1, turns out new install on this computer didn’t have autosave enabled, whoops! I still plan to finish this, I get to fix up some of the stuff I didn’t like about what I posted yesterday which is nice. Thanks Fritz

another year another fireball animation. I am very rusty but really hope I can get back on the ball this year. Hopefully this year I can post more than 5 animations the entire year!
