๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ STOP THE GENOCIDE NOW!!!๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ you have free will - interact with me if you want to. I'm a nerd with many points of interest, chief among them history, makeup, roleplaying and singing. I have approximate knowledge of many things, some things more than others. I'm not an expert on anything, but I have some quite strong opinions on pedagogy and child rearing. I create art. Sometimes.

Under sea ecosystems are bullshit.

Like imagine you're a little rabbit and you go to nibble on a tree sapling but as soon as you go to take a bite it takes off like a fucking helicopter and disappears over the horizon.

Then, before you can process what just happened, the entire patch of grass you were standing on turns out to be a fox who had turned itself inside out and you die.

are you okay do you need to talk about it

Look I'm just saying I'm glad I exist in a place and scale where the main form of getting dead is just something trying to make your blood fall out.

I couldn't handle being a crab. I would register a formal complaint but crabs can't write.

what an artful form of apartheid apologia. people are lapping this shit up in the notes. Even if we set aside the titanic amount of weaponry and equipment created and built by engineers and chemists, all the mapping software that guides missiles and drones and planes created by computer scientists and geographers for a second (science that the state is very much interested in!), zionist apartheid policy, administrative policies, planning and logistics, urban planning documents, you name it - that all apparently just popped into existence one day. for someone claiming to be concerned about social science academics you sure are dismissing all of their hard work! but if you just frame every academic in Israel as a poor little individual victim being randomly attacked for no reason then itโ€™s easy to hide whatโ€™s actually going on, which is academics as a group experiencing the harsh end of a boycott. they are being targeted specifically because they are an intellectual class of a colonial state whose genocide is being live-streamed to the world, but if you obfuscate the academyโ€™s role in training, educating, and providing intellectual architecture for the bureaucratic class and institutions that make up state governments, then you can frame a principled pro-Palestinian position (boycotting Israel) as misguided, stupid, overzealous, ineffectual, and most importantly, detrimental to the cause of freeing Palestine, all of which is of course so obvious to everyone but Palestinian activists. this is naked concern-trolling for the zionist project of annihilating Palestine and it is no less disgusting than any other zionist cheering on the mass murder of children

if you're even a little bit familiar with the circle of liberal tumblr zionist, this type of ''pro-palestine'' concern trolling is so easy to see through. anyway...

Zionists would not be complaining so loud about academic boycott if it didn't matter.

ngl I keep forgetting that Hobby Lobby is a real store that people go to. That people actually think of it as a craft store and not as a crazy Christian mass artifact smuggler. I google "Hobby Lobby" and get a page full of results that make me go "wtf is this craft supplies and operating hours shit, I thought we all knew this place for smuggling looted cuneiform tablets out of Iraq"

They are also that! And it comes from the same place.

Since 2009, the billionaire owners of Hobby Lobby started taking advantage of the wars in Iraq to buy stolen and looted cuneiform tablets and clay artifacts from ancient Mesopotamia. A lot of them were suspected to have been stolen from the National Museum of Iraq in Baghdad in the chaos of the US invasion in 2003. The Hobby Lobby owners used HL profits to smuggle these artifacts into the US (taking them out of Iraq is illegal so they listed them as tile samples from Turkey and Israel, more friendly nations to the US). Eventually the customs officials seized them, and the US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in 2017 when the news really broke about just how many ancient Middle Eastern artifacts were smuggled into the country. They were doing this to stock their "Museum of the Bible" that purports to prove the literal truth of the Bible... using stolen Mesopotamian cuneiform tablets, somehow. Idk.

They also had sixteen Dead Sea Scrolls that turned out to be forgeries but that's only tangentially related.

Hobby Lobby and its owners were fined and ordered to return, again, thousands of artifacts back to Iraq. For years they KEPT finding more artifacts of Hobby Lobby's that turned out to be stolen, looted, and smuggled. It's one of the biggest artifact smuggling scandals in recent history. And it separated artifacts from their context and permanently damaged the ability to learn new things from them, even though archaeologists subsequently have been trying.

Recognizing a genocide a year after it happens helps nobody. If you cannot recognize mass murder unfolding before your eyes, you are a danger to everyone in our society.

A woman enters an ancient medieval church that is carved into solid rock in Lalibela, Ethiopia. Lalibela is famous for their monolithic rock-cut churches. The churches themselves date from the seventh to thirteenth centuries, and were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978.ย Steve McCurry.

I just saw the track and field Olympics uniforms I keep hearing about and holy FUCK

Apparently there's a "shorts" option as well but wtf was Nike & the team officials ever thinking with this design???????

I initially was like "wow, that is an uncomfortable looking swimsuit" before realizing it was for TRACK AND FIELD. Can you imagine RUNNING in that?!?!

"Professional athletes should be able to compete without dedicating brain space to constant pube vigilance or the mental gymnastics of having every vulnerable piece of your body on display,โ€ Lauren Fleshman, a former professional track and field athlete,ย wrote on Instagram. โ€œWomenโ€™s kits should be in service to performance, mentally and physically. If this outfit was truly beneficial to physical performance, men would wear it. This is not an elite athletic kit for track and field. This is a costume born of patriarchal forces that are no longer welcome or needed to get eyes on womenโ€™s sports.โ€

We need to lay more blame for "Kids don't know how computers work" at the feet of the people responsible: Google.

Google set out about a decade ago to push their (relatively unpopular) chromebooks by supplying them below-cost to schools for students, explicitly marketing them as being easy to restrict to certain activities, and in the offing, kids have now grown up in walled gardens, on glorified tablets that are designed to monetize and restrict every movement to maximize profit for one of the biggest companies in the world.

Tech literacy didn't mysteriously vanish, it was fucking murdered for profit.

fun fact: Boston Museum of Science calls their evening lecture series โ€œSubSpaceโ€, which would be a totally innocuous math term except for the fact that, to make sure you know these lectures are higher-level and not aimed at their usual audience (kids), they chose to subtitle it โ€œSubSpace: Adult Experiencesโ€

me at the SubSpace wearing a leash and "free use" written on my tits in sharpie: wow I never knew Riemannian manifolds were so interesting
