And after your long dissertation.....
Here is why the death of Adam didn't even matter as much as you think it did.
Instead of supporting Shiro's decision, Adam left.
They were not even fiancés. Not engaged to be married.
But at least we also know the why. Adam couldn't handle that likely after the Kerberos mission, Shiro was likely to lose the ability to fully function. His mind would be intact but not his body.
Adam couldn't handle that.
But personally... What I would want... Is what Shiro does have. Shiro has someone not willing to give up on him. Someone willibg to search the ends of the Universe and everywhere in between for him. One who kept trying to snap the clone out of whatever headspace he was in and not willing to accept that the clone was also just that... A clone.
And yes, I know Antis and those who just can't get it in their heads that Keith is (and was at the start of the show) an adult in the eyes of the entire known world. And I know they just can't get it in their heads that Shiro and Keith are not related in any way, shape or form. And that Shiro never took care of him like a parent. And that Shiro was only what... 6 years older than Keith until season 6. Which season 6, Keith ended up 2 years advanced, so now it is only 4 years difference.
By the way.... Wake up and smell the reality, no one gives a shit about age differences less than 10 years. Hell, most don't even care about age differences of 20 years or less.
Instead of whining and complaining about a relationship of a fictional gay man with another fictional gay man that ended before the Kerberos mission....
Maybe focus on the WHY you don't see LGBT representation in media.
Look at what Antis have done to the Voltron fandom.
I have seen what amounts to "Give us Klance or else" also "Sheith is pedophilia" which....
Pedophilia... By all definitions is NOT the relationships of a fictional pairing that you don't like. Especially not of a fictional pairing of two fictional adult characters.
Shipping War is what has helped to make all show runners and show writers and show producers gun-shy to even dare put pairings together.
What else has helped... Audiences and closed-minded, homophobic parents of children who watch said shows.
Don't blame the media when it is the audiences who shape what shows do or don't do.
If no pairings come out of Voltron... That will be okay to me. Because the frenzied furor that will come if the heavily hinted since the first season pairings come out (both being hetero pairings) is something I don't even want to listen to. The pairings being Hunk with Pidge and Lance with Allura. The last one being the one that will get the most uproar from the ones who can't leave Klance in the fandom and out of canon (where it doesn't belong anyway).
There has been potential for a gay romantic relationship to be there. Only... The Antis won't let it. It has been there since the first season... But again... The Antis and the more rabid of the Klancers won't let it. Why? Because like with Lance and Allura... This other relationship gets in the way of their ship.
Mind you, my heart will always love Sheith... That kind of relationship... That is one built to last. The forever kind that is full of support and understanding and peace. That is what most who are gay would love to have, and love to find.
The ship of Klance... Where they are always bickering in canon... No thanks. That would be like dating my brother. Nope, no thank you, I have enough stress and strife in my life without adding to it.
I notice that EVERYONE... except those of us with eyes and who are paying attention to the STORY.....
Missed one Lesbian LGBTQ+ ship that sailed right under their noses....
Yup... Those two were so obviously a couple that anyone not trying to see hints of a ship that will never happen (Klance) obviously missed. It was there the whole time! And they didn't die! So much for "bury your gays" crapola.
The Family Feud episode was the best.....
Especially Keith's reasoning for choosing Lance...
"I chose Lance because I don't want to spend an eternity here with him."
Rub-a-dub dub, thanks for the grub... That will fuel my humor for a long time.
Don't blame the ones who make the shows for the lack of representation.
Blame the ones who watch them.
Because they are what makes or breaks a show.
We have gotten lucky so far....
That the Antis haven't broken this show irrevocably beyond repair.
But they have made it so very impossible to put relationships out there.
Even though Voltron is not about romantic relationships. It's about 5 people, piloting sentient robotic lions that form one huge robot.... Also now about 4 other pilots piloting advanced jet fighters... And one pilot we know very well being the captain of a much bigger robot as support.
Plus other people in the form of a coalition and a rebel group of Galra warriors.
This show wasn't about romance... But they are trying to weave a bit into the story. Just for us.
Lauren and JDS and Bex and the other Voice Actors worked hard and fought hard to give us "Shiro is Gay".
AJ summed it up best, "Oh we get to talk about it now?"
They have known how this story would unfold for longer than we've known about Shiro being gay and Adam being a character in the show. They already knew what needed to take place.
What most people miss... Is that many kill of the gay characters first then others.
What everyone missed in that episode in season 7.....
Adam was the last to go down. He didn't go down without a fight. And he was the last to go down.
Just think about that too, while you are waving your baby fists and crying about how unfair it is.
Meanwhile... My transmale asexual ass is gonna sit here, knowing, that while there is representation of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals.....
There will never be any true accurate representation for any of the ones like me.
Because I don't need representation to feel valid. I live, I breathe, thus I am valid.
