I made a thing!

It annoys me that all teenage sims get a negative memory if they grow up without going to college, but I don’t want to completely remove the memory (like Pescado’s hack does), because some of my sims should be sad to not go to college.

So I made this mod. If you install it, only sims who have a Knowledge primary or secondary aspiration will get the negative memory for not going to college.

Other sims may still get the “Uneducated” fear and they will still lose aspiration points if they don’t go to college, but they won’t get a negative memory.

I might make another version that also allows Fortune sims to get the memory, I’m undecided.

Requires Uni, obviously.

I think it must be a testament to just *how many* hours I have put into TS2, that I can start modding after a 4 year break and pretty much know what I’m doing 🤷‍♀️

HELP!!!

Maybe someone knows, what we can do! sims.ambertation.de don’t work many days. Me and other creators suffer a lot with this problem. We can’t register GUID = can’t convert objects and made poseboxes, it’s wery horrible for us, Maybe somone knows, how to contact with the site owner or who can tell to owner about this problem. Pls do something. We want to make content for TS2!

I’ve simply been keeping notepad for myself where I use the next GUID of my block per item when needed + note down which item it was. I mean the guids are always +1 to your previous used one so grab the last item you’ve created and add +1 to it. Just remember it uses hex so after 9 comes A,B,C,E,F then 0,1…. and so on. 

So piece of my notepad file looks like this:

which works for me to help keep note about my crap. :)

And if you fill up your GUID block, just use the hash generator in SimPE to generate new GUIDs - it's not as safe as using the GUID database, but the risk of conflicts is still very low.

Two of my favourite rugs retextured and recoloured. Both available it 24 colours and textures were taken from the games carpets.  >> Tres - Requires Kitchen & Bath Stuff >> Diamond - Requires Apartment Life (I think?) If you’re not already using it, I recommend this mod to stop rugs from sinking into the ground and looking all sad and flat

Growing Up Wants Panel

With this mod, Sims (townies too, if they aren’t young adults) can receive wants or fear slots, or locks while growing up, depending on the aspiration bar level. This mod also disables receiving wants and fear slots along with locks as university bonuses but it does not remove them if they were received before.

When a Sim grows up with a red aspiration bar level, they will get a 4th fear slot – if they haven’t received it yet. When a Sim grows up with a high enough* aspiration bar level, they will get a want slot or a lock:

  • A Sim receives a want slot when a difference between their want slots number and their locks number is 3 or fewer, and their number of want slots is at most 5.
  • In other cases, a Sim gets a lock.

A temporal want slot being a vacation benefit called Carefree doesn’t count up to the number of want slots.

Take in mind you don’t get any notification when a Sim gets an extra want or fear slot, or an extra lock.

The mod comes in 2 versions that differ in the high enough (*) aspiration bar level: platinum and gold. Use only one version at a time.

You need to have at least one expansion pack or stuff pack installed to be able to use this mod.

Known bugs When a Sim having 6 want slots and 4 fear slots gets a 7th want slot (as a temporal vacation benefit), the 4th fear slot gets hidden until the 7th want slot disappears.

Conflicts This mod can conflict with mods that modify general university notifications, or that change the way of receiving want or fear slots, or locks, or memories of growing up.

University of Life by Pick'N'Mix doesn’t conflict technically but conflicts ideologically with this mod, although theoretically they can be used together and still work properly.

It seems that my posting pattern pretty much consists of ‘Don’t do anything for a month then appear out of thin air and spam huge-ass posts like nothing happened’. To keep the tradition going, here’s your gratuitous monthly spam post featuring more interior pics of - what else? That damned castle again. Because of course.

The last time I remembered I had a Tumblr we got to see the furnishing in the left wing, so naturally now it’s time for the right one. There’s an airy living/sitting area that looks suspiciously rococo, a small secluded library at the back, and then the upper floor which features a narrow hallway connecting to two rooms that remain unfurnished for now. The general idea was that the pea green room is to be a bedroom and the other one a bathroom, but my game was lagging like mad while I was playing this lot so I said screw it, I’ll decorate ‘em some other time. I’m slightly worried for my PC’s performance after this whole lot is furnished (the Tin Can is struggling with keeping up with this lot even now), but ehhhh. Gotta suffer for beauty, right?

In case you’re wondering: Yes, Clean UI is still alive. To be honest with you, I was just extremely lazy, but this is the result of 2 days work. I luckily got help from various simmers who already began redoing graphics. Thanks for that again!

As you can see, new cursors will also be included. It reminds me of a certain game in the Sims series.

Why are the thumbnails on allthehairs so small, or is it probably just my screen resolution?

‘Cause I had to hack the everloving shit out of responsive bartik to get them to a reasonable size before, and then I had to reinstall the whole whack of it and I can’t remember how I did it before.

When there are fewer columns (i.e. when there aren’t any dreads or curls on the first page), or if you have a bigger resolution, the images will be bigger. Sorry!

I keep seeing ts3&4 object conversions with weird ‘seams’/hard edges. I suspect that it has to do with having this option* left checked in Milkshape. That is known to ‘break’ the normals of body meshes on import, and I wouldn’t be surprised if object converters’ unawareness of it was the root of the problem. *: Auto Smooth, under the Groups tab. (This is difficult to fix ‘after the fact’ in Milkshape by editing the altered mesh, so the solution would be to reextract and reimport.)
While I’m here, some other issues I’ve oft noticed:
- Objects that still have a Maxis description, and/or are ‘unsigned’ by the creator. Please guys, most people want to know where a piece of CC is from. A similar issue is objects that are badly priced or catalogued (such as a soccer ball under plants.) - Objects that aren’t recolourable. This is not hard to fix. And it’s still too tricky for you, you can always install CEP and clone something that already is. - In the same vein, object where two recolour subsets exist but one of them isn’t actually ‘used’ on the model, and recolours ‘using’ both subsets where one doesn’t modify the default texture. - Objects that were cloned from an item of the ‘wrong’ category. I understand that not everyone has the skill to create a fully functional guitar, but if you want to convert a chair, please clone a chair, not a flowerpot. - Objects cloned from an ‘inappropriate’ item which causes graphical glitches/general weirdness. For example, the jonquil vase should not be cloned as the based of a regular opaque object.
I know this may seem harsh, and that some of this stuff isn’t obvious. But I’ve noticed a tendency of people expecting everything to be fed to them through one big tutorial - sometimes acting like people who are already knowledgeable owe it to them - and I don’t think that’s reasonable. No one is born knowing how to create perfect CC. A lot of this stuff you have to deal with on a case by case basis, and creating good content requires the will to learn
Some useful links: - Adding a recolourable subset. - Repository technique (texture slaving one object to another). - Exploring the material definition (learn about the display of textures, shine, transparency, etc). - Make a new mesh animate as it should. - Fixing and reducing an object’s footprint (green squares).

For object meshes, it’s usually very easy to fix autosmooth after the fact - you just have to select the vertices along the seam and smooth them again.

The reason that you can’t easily fix autosmoothed body meshes is because autosmooth messes up the neck/waist in a way that means you have to import and then delete a reference mesh to fix it, and it also messes up hands, which are just complex and fiddly. But the vast majority of object meshes don’t have these problems: you might even want to use autosmooth deliberately on an object, depending on the mesh 😉

(This does depend on the mesh, and if you have loads of hard edges you may still wish to re-extract rather than taking the time to group the mesh up before fixing it)
