i kinda feel bad for oedipus b/c everyone assumes he chose to fuck his mom when in fact he went out of his way to avoid it. he left his hometown and distanced himself from his parents because he was afraid he would somehow get tricked into fucking his mom. everything could have been avoided if his adopted parents told him he was adopted.

someone: oedipus was fucked up like who fucks their own mother??? fucking weirdo.

me: it’s not his fault! he didn’t know!

also the point of the myth is supposed to show how despite your best efforts no mortal can thwart fate but also? what the fuck? the whole thing was an oracle telling laius that his son was going to murder him and fuck his wife. that shit came out of nowhere. he didn’t offend the gods or anything. they just decided for no reason other than the world is fucked up sometimes.

i have been informed that oedipus’ dad, laius, did in fact bring a curse upon himself for kidnapping and raping king pelop’s son chrysippus.

i stand by my stance that it’s still ridiculous to punish oedipus and jocasta for laius’s crimes. also why would the godss curse oedipus for fucking his mom when they tricked him into doing it in the first place? fucked up.

You’re assuming the gods are ruled by logic and not by zeus nudging poseidon and saying “hey you know what would be so fucking funny”

This is so accurate

“South Korea’s entertainment industry is a cultural juggernaut that has allowed the East Asian nation to punch well above its weight in terms of global soft power.

But a digital sex scandal that police say involves some of K-Pop’s biggest stars has rocked the K-Pop world, leaving it facing a reckoning from which some believe it might not recover.”

I think the reckoning is good, but the shock from kpop scandals in general always surprises me a little. I’ve always assumed there was a lot of ugliness under the facade (though not as bad as the current scandal I’ll admit). In pretty much every group (entertainment, religion, politics, etc.), if you force people to pretend that they are perfect people in public, you can pretty much expect that there is a lot that they hide.

Seungri masterpost with timeline (updated 3/11/19)

Note: Most of these links are from Soompi, Koreaboo, Reddit and similar sites so do with that what you will. I cannot use Naver/Dispatch/etc because I do not speak Korean so this is the best I can offer. This list of links is for fans who have not kept up with the Seungri/Burning Sun scandal from the beginning and need some help catching up. I have provided basic summaries but please do your own reading and form your own informed opinions.

1/28/19 – MBC’s News Desk released CCTV footage of a man (Mr. Kim) being beaten by security guards at Burning Sun. The man claimed that he was trying to protect a woman who had approached him for help, saying she’d been sexually assaulted. When he tried to go to security about it, he was thrown out of the club and beaten by security guards and people who “seemed like” their friends. When the police arrived and spoke to Burning Sun’s security, the man was arrested for “obstruction of business.” (This happened in 2018.)

1/30/19 – A video of a woman being sexually assaulted inside a club bathroom began making its way around the internet. An employee at the club confirmed that it was, in fact, the bathroom attached to a VIP room at Burning Sun.

1/31/19 – YG himself made a statement about Burning Sun and spoke about how Seungri was in the process of resigning (from Burning Sun) due to a military clause. He said that he’d never been to Burning Sun and that he didn’t know any of the employees or patrons, then said that he felt the investigation was more geared towards a drug search.

2/4/19 – The CEO of Burning Sun made a statement addressing the physical assault of Mr. Kim. At no point did the CEO mention the viral video of the sexual assault, and most of the statement was used to try and dissolve Seungri of any blame or possible connection to the club.

2/25/19 – SBS’s FunE revealed incriminating KakaoTalk text messages from 2015 that appeared to show Seungri instructing employees to secure prostitutes for wealthy businessmen looking to invest in one of his businesses. He says to get girls who “give well” and the participants also discuss “Taiwanese gangsters.” YG insisted that the text message screenshots were manipulated.

¾/19 – Though a source from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency had originally said that they did not have original copies of any KKT messages, and that they weren’t sure such messages truly existed, SBS FunE confirmed that the original copies were sent directly to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. In short, the whistleblower responsible for leaking the KKT group messages did not feel comfortable going to the Seoul police, as they had reason to believe that there was a deep police connection WITHIN the KKT group chat itself.

3/8/19 – Following a statement from YG confirming Seungri’s enlistment date on 3/25/19, the Military Manpower Administration clarified that, unless an arrest warrant was issued and Seungri was jailed before the 25th, he would still be enlisting. They went on to say that they would participate fully in the investigation and that they could delay his enlistment if he is found guilty of any charges before the 25th.

3/10/19 – Police issued a search warrant for Burning Sun and sent 20 officers to search the premises. Not long after, Seungri was booked on charges related to facilitating prostitution, officially marking him a suspect in the controversies at Burning Sun.

3/11/19 (the busiest day so far – several updates all within a few hours of each other)

I will update this list as more information is released. Please reblog to help stop the spread of misinformation and please please do your own reading and research so that you can be as informed as possible. There are too many people on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr who are popping off without knowing any of the actual facts and that’s dangerous. This is a very serious situation with a lot of moving parts and as things get worse and worse, and it’s extremely important to be informed.

This Seungri situation is making me sick in so many ways. It’s not only showing how much of a corrupt society we can be in, but how enabling fans are in the idol culture. Let’s start with this:

1. Yes, Seungri is innocent until proven guilty, but we will not say that the evidence is pretty damaging. With text, apparent videos, and other celebrities involvement, we all know when there is smoke there is fire. So to pretend he’s Jesus being nailed to the cross is unlikely because too much of this leads to the commonality of Seungri. Also, this is not just something that started a year ago, the proof goes back as far as 2013.

2. To blame these women is beyond me. I do not understand anyone who blames any woman on those videos when they were victimized and filmed without consent. They had no clue that this would be shared and most likely did not want to be monopolized by these men. Also, do not pretend that men of power do not have authority of these women. Maybe he didn’t threaten them, but with power comes a fear that could easily influence women to do exactly what you want. Do not make them seem as if they were happy hookers or some shit.

3. Finally, the audacity of people to say “remember what happened to Jonghyun” is fucking disrespectful. Jonghyun was not a criminal nor accused of anything during his time of death, and his mental health did not make him do anything illegal. Seungri, however, put himself in these position and needs to deal with the consequences. He did this to himself, he’s not the victim, and to compare his situation to a man who literally never did anything wrong is beyond me. Jonghyun battled himself, Seungri battled the law. Don’t ever make it seem like Jonghyun’s suicide could happen to Seungri when the commonality is not the same.

As a VIP, I understand the disappointment, confusion, and anger. However, holding Seungri’s hand is not helping, but is enabling him to engage in horrible or risky behavior that is bringing harm to women. Being a member of the worlds best K-Pop group brings not only power, but all that comes with it, and he should understand whether he’s guilty or not, he should have not even put himself in a situation to risk himself and the women around him.

If anyone has a problem with anything I just said then I’m open to discussion.

Viewers of The Crowned Clown who hate on Dal-lae, a teenage girl who is kept out of a loop, got RAPED by the shithead son of a shithead minister, worried to death about her brother’s disappearance, and is actively trying to seek answers for it, and openly wished for her death or want to slap her, should honestly be ashamed of themselves.

There are viewers hating on Dal-lae?! Why?!?!?!
