ironically i am working right now so i can’t do a full post on this like i would really prefer to do… but these are the most cartoonishly evil people that you could possibly imagine, even in a society as flawed as the one we’ve built for ourselves. these are bedrock groups devoted to protecting the american worker and consumer. massive huge giant waving red flags 🚩

i am telling you this is going to snowball into something nobody wants to see. the only upside is that this might actually lead to a worker uprising. this is fucking ghoulish.

Vote Blue No Matter Who.

Only a constitutional amendment countering Citizens United (which is the SCOTUS ruling that decided that corporations are people) is going to save us from this

And a Republican majority is going to hand human rights away to Amazon.

Because there will be no workers uprising. Not on a revolutionary scale. Saying that is accelerationist shit.

So you know, if you actually care about the future?

You need to show up in November.

There’s time. We have candidates who hate this shit. Have hope.

Amazon wants you hopeless. Hopeless people don’t vote. Hopeless people don’t join unions. Hopeless people don’t call their representatives.

Remember! You are never easier to control than when you are hopeless.

They are taking political action. You do the same.

Remember! You are never easier to control than when you’re hopeless.

Do not give the corporate monsters what they want. It’s part of their master plan.

Do you really want to feed into that by rolling over and just accepting the only thing you can do is wait?

Let's remember why folks like Amazon are so angry at the NLRB right now: Because the Biden administration has made it more aggressive than any president since before Reagan.

Is it a coincidence that so many labor actions have been successful lately? Nope. They're getting quiet support, rather than sabotage, from the feds.

Biden is doing the actual work of government. It's not as flashy as wrecking government, and it's slower, but he gets it done.

Anonymous asked:

Have you ever cried or been significantly upset at the death of a celebrity?

  • Yes (which one?), because I cared about them or their work
  • Yes, for practical reasons (ex. it was a politician with good political views)
  • Yes, but not because I cared about them (ex. their cause of death was a trigger for you)
  • No, but I would if certain famous people were to die
  • No, and I wouldn't even if a celebrity I liked died
  • No, because there are no celebrities I like/care about
  • Other (put in tags)

why didn’t gandalf just carry the ring to mordor himself with these tongs

like i’m picturing him being really careful and looking at it and carrying it exactly like this while walking or riding through the woods and across rivers and up mountains and through valleys and he doesn’t drop it even once except at the very end where he tidily drops it into the volcano. frodo sam and the crew and even gollum wholly undisturbed. sauron can’t find him bc of the meditative aura surrounding him which is generated by his immense focus on not dropping it

World's most tense egg and spoon race

this somehow became the funniest thing on earth in my head and I had to draw it so

oh yes i know of him. not in the sense that i am familiar with his work but i have seen my mutuals make insane and nonsensical comments about him. so

idk why I never thought about it, but if we’re assuming that this

is the brochure Bucky got at the Smithsonian in 2014, that must mean that he held on to it for two whole years. possibly carrying it in his pocket at first (you can sort of see the marks where it was originally folded), then carefully straightening it and smoothing out the inevitable little crinkles, with a tenderness he’d long forgotten he was even capable of.

moving it from journal to journal as he went through them, so he wouldn’t risk losing it.

using it as a bookmark, so it would be the first thing he saw every time he flipped his journal open.

maybe tracing Steve’s familiar face with his fingertips, with the odd but unfaltering certainty that he used to know what that felt like. that the memory must be somewhere in the back of his mind still, waiting to be unlocked like a treasure chest.

recalling how, during the war, he’d wished he could have carried a picture of his sweetheart on him like all the other guys did. how he’d wished he could see Steve’s face every day, just for something good to hold on to, to keep him going when he felt every last shred of hope slip away from him.

and how, when Steve appeared with his new body and his old recklessness, all too eager to throw himself into battle, Bucky had learned what people meant when they said be careful what you wish for.

just. the notion of Bucky taking this fragile piece of paper in the first place, and then deciding to keep it, and then going out of his way to make sure it wouldn’t tear, deliberately keeping it close at hand, cherishing it like it was his most prized possession– yeah no I need a moment

The thing that always strikes me is that Bucky…only had that picture of Steve in his diary. In the two years he had had, he must have learned about photographs and photocopying etc but he never made a copy of his own details to put in the diary.

In fact, apart from the first thing the Winter Soldier says to Steve — “who the hell is Bucky” — he doesn’t ask about himself again. “The man on the bridge, who was he?” He goes to the Captain America expo and looks at himself, but brings away only a giant picture of the Cap. He puts it in each successive diaries. It never quite fits the book, but he is so careful that the edges don’t even fray.

Because no matter what he reads about “James Buchanan Barnes” that feels like an entire lifetime away. But a picture of Steve…that brings him right back home.

Yikes

Now that I remember, in the comics Bucky temporarily replaced Nick Fury as "the man on the wall" (the secret first line of defense against space invaders). So maybe he'll play more of an organisational and logistical role for the Thunderbolts....

As long as they keep Bucky safe that's all that matters to me.

It would be good if that were true, but based on what we’ve seen of Val so far being the person working in offices, having the contacts and recruiting people into the team, I think Val is going to be the organisational leader while Yelena is going to be the protagonist.

Not really sure where Bucky will fit in this but I have little confidence in MCU writers to be able to differentiate the experiences of Bucky vs Alexei vs Walker.

I have a theory that maybe Bucky has taken Fury's place in SHIELD or a similar organization by the time the movie starts. And whether he found out on his own or Val told him about Sentry (the official villain), Bucky decides to help the Thunderbolts with the mission. I suspect Bucky wouldn't be involved in the direct action but would be the leader of the mission, and Yelena would lead the team in the field. According to a Hollywood Reporter report, an insider who got a sneak peek at the script said that it seems that Val would be revealed as the real villain at the end, using the team to do her dirty work in the hope that they and Sentry would end up killing each other.

It's just a theory, we'd better wait for photos from the filming to leak out or for Marvel to reveal more news.

Ok, i've just seen this...

I really hate the fact that Marvel doesn't give Bucky the prominence and recognition that he undoubtedly deserves. I just hope it's in order to give him a more peaceful life and of course he's safe.

Now I'm a little more convinced that Bucky will be doing his own thing and supporting the team in his own way similar to how Fury was assisting the Avengers...

the problem with not voting in order to send the message that you hate all the candidates and the entire system and therefore refuse to participate is that it's completely indistinguishable, as a signal, from not bothering to vote because you think the system is great and all the candidates are great and you'd be fine with any of them. so you might want to rethink the strategy there
