The sound of bedsheets crumpling underneath my body filled the room as I tossed and turned. The silvery glow of moonlight splashed into the room, transforming it into a setting reminiscent of a fairytale movie. My eyes darted to the old grandfather clock that ticked away without a care in the world. It was well past midnight, and I hadn’t gotten even a single wink of sleep. Next to me lies Grim, sound asleep, ignorant of my never ending worries. I huffed in annoyance as I grappled with my inability to get a good night’s rest. After a couple more minutes of restless shifting, I got up from the bed.
Warm slippers capsulated my feet, protecting my feet from the cold, hard floor — another thing to add to my list of problems. I approached the window, letting myself be bathed by the moonlight. My hands unlocked the window, pushing it open as the night breeze gently hit my face. It was a bit too cold, but I didn’t mind it. The rustling of the leaves and the harmonious chirps of crickets filled my ears. I took a deep breath of the fresh air and exhaled it, along with all the restlessness and uneasiness that plagued me.
“Sometimes, we all need to vent our troubles. Even if it’s to the wind that can provide no advice nor comfort,” a deep voice interrupted my solidarity. I looked around for the source of the voice. I needn’t search for long, for the speaker was right in front of me, on the other side of the window.
