#Muppetober : The whole Muppetober cast!

Well, here's a shot of all the Muppets I drew during the month. I know there are a lot of familiar faces missing, but I went as far as time would let me.

This has been an incredible month. This challenge made me reconnect with my old self.  This Muppets challenge was a journey of self discovery.

Jim Henson's work and his desire to spread peace through his work inspired me to do what I do and what I still hope that I can do.

The Muppets weren't just puppets.  They were not characters thought out by a consumer products committee.  The Muppets were extensions of a solid group of friends who were playing while we were watching on TV.

Jim, Dave, Frank, Richard, Steve, Jerry, Louise, Fran, Caroll, Noel, Brian, Karen, Matt, Peter, Bill, Eric, Kevin and all the gang of performers WERE the Muppets.  Through their kindness, through their humor, through their love and through their amazing talents, we laughed , sang and played our way through life.

Every creation needs a soul and they are the Muppets soul.

If you understand this principle,  then you will understand The Muppets.

I want to thank all the amazing artists who played with me during this incredible month!

Thank you all and keep believing and keep pretending!

I once told this to a fan at a Comic Con. Dunno if I'm correct but that's how I think: The Looney Tunes are not pals. They are not this group that hangs out together. (Leave that to mice and ducks). The Looney Tunes are always looking to eat and beat the crap out of each other. Each one of them thinks on their own survival. They even hardly address themselves by names other than 'pal', 'chum' or 'doc' (but that's just one of them). Their personalities are so strong that you don't need to think too hard in stories. Just think out a villain or a foe or even pur two of them together against each other and the story will write itself. Understand this and you will get what made the Termite Terrace braintrust run.

After seeing Rich Arons post of his fantastic Animaniacs expressions I decided to make one last piece of fan art. It's been a fun ride through the 90's folks. G'night, everybody!!! #Animaniacs #art #Animation #yakko #wakko #dot #warnerbros #warnerbrosanimation #90s

Regarding the recent Indiegogo move. I decided to move the crowdfunding ChickenDuck campaign from Kickstarter to Indiegogo for a couple of reasons. One of them is the flexibility that Indiegogo offers. We can start working on the project as funding comes. On Kickstarter things won't happen unless is fully funded and that waiting time could be use in a more productive way. As funding arrive we can begin creating and sending out the "perks" (as Indiegogo calls them). Indiegogo is more user friendly for backers. Some of you contacted me and ask to give their pledge outside Kickstarter because they didn't want to sign up or didn't know how to do it. I politely turned those donations down because if by any reason the Kickstarter wouldn't go then funding would be incomplete. So basically this is it! I'm deeply grateful for your great backup and support. You guys rock! -Dave Alvarez Here's the link to the new campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-chickenduck-show/x/17143587#/

About my Kickstarter thinguie: We all love and miss fully animated 2D shows in television. Why are Networks not doing them anymore? Expensive? Maybe but not really. Richard Williams once said that animators didn't wanted the camera to move on live action sequences inserts because "animators were lazy". There's also a bit of that but not really the main reason. The reason is that it became a force of habit (again). Simple designs that could be quickly animated and by default end a full season on a timely manner became what we have today. I have two kids and both of them as much as they like the new shows they are amazed by the classics. They Netflix Animaniacs and look for Tom and Jerry shorts because they find them amazing and funny! Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Darkwing Duck etc.. were all part of that era that suddenly vanished. Now I'm not trying to swim against the river or trying to prove anything. I'm pretty aware that an executive practice is rather difficult to change but I want to let everyone know that fully animated 2D for television is still possible and cost-effective if the correct team and concept is hired to do this. We are just trying to make a fun little show. -Dave https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/239470603/the-chickenduck-show
