late night doodle I never drew dib so I wanted to give it a shot but then, as I started drawing I realized I had no idea what I'm doing lmao so have a free interpretation of this weirdo

Avatar

I made this drawing a liiitle while ago. And by that I mean about four years- I still really like it though, as well as the character.

This is Kit, my IZ OC. I recently regained my interest in Invader Zim so I'm blorbing real hard about her lol

So basically her dad was a classmate of Professor Membrane who was like, always the number 2, and he was obsessed with him, in being better than him and making him look bad.

And that obsession made him into first just a kid who would try to sabotage his inventions to get a little first place ribbon to a mad scientist who was put in jail for his destructive inventions.

Aaand he happens to have a daughter, who he never paid much attention to because he was too busy obsessing over a guy who's completely oblivious to his hate. And he passed on this hate to her, so she's obsessed in destroying the Membranes, but mostly Dib. In her mind, he has the life she should have, a good home, fame, and a present father (let's not talk about the fact that Professor Membrane isn't THAT present but it's her perception, okay).

I honestly love her conflict because when she gets to meet Dib she manipulates him and tries to kill him, and overtime she changes her own appearance and starts looking more and more like him, to the point of getting a coat and dyeing her hair black, as well as trying to capture Zim (so she would be doing something Dib never could and therefore is better than him), and when that doesn't work out she tries to take over earth herself (yes, her, just a little human girl).

She's obsessed with proving she's better than him im every way and doesn't realize she's fallen too far down this hole and she has no other purpose in life.

So yeah I really like this character and I'd love to write her arc, I am not modest in saying I think I did a pretty great job with her.

Hello theeeere, fellow earthlings!

I used to be obsessed with IZ back in 2019/2020 and that was buried for quite some time until I stumbled across some fanart and thought "oh my god I saw this before" and now I'm here again, rewatching the show and having rewatched the movie again too.

I used to have a fanfic and am thinking about rewriting it, not to make it into a long thing because I never finish my stuff, but just to have a little fun, especially now that my english is better.

I decided to make a little cover for it inspired by the poster of ETF I used before.

Fuck man I knew aai 1-4 had MVK being dismissive and abusive to the siblings but fuck man.

Actively saying that attending his 13 year old daughters courtroom debut isn't a priority for him

Then this exchange which is prompted by nothing beyond Miles asking to do his job even using the Von Karma framing of finding perfection only for Manfred to just completely shut him down and verbally abuse him

Miles then being completely unable to respond in shame. Even though this is God damn Bratworth were talking about and in the last scene he was saying this

And then Fran coming in to desperately try and deflect her father ire to protect him

Then when she finally does convince him to let them investigate he says this

Basically actively admitting to anyone with the context we have now that he's only making Miles a procecutor to sully Gregory's legacy.

Then Miles thanking her because he saw her defelcting Manfreds abuse for him.

Just absolutely heart breaking. It really shows the dynamic at play here perfectly. He doesn't care about Franziska. He is not putting this energy into her career and only putting it into Miles' because he is using it as an avenue to abuse and control him and further enact his revenge on Gregory. And she doesn't understand why. She doesn't get why Miles gets this attention and she doesn't. But she already knows that she has to deflect his attention to protect Miles. And Miles doesn't understand how he's doing everything he can to do the right thing but is still his target. Its such a genuinely interesting dynamic where both of them think the other is the favourite. Miles thinks it Fran because he's not constantly verbally abusing her and Fran thinks it's Miles because he actually bothers to give him the time of day and is properly mentoring him. She's 13 man. She's about to become a prosecutor at 13 and he still doesn't care about her in the slightest.

Ugh Von Karma siblings, my heart

Catch another little comic. Do not think and do not count on the fact that I draw so often. No. I’m just translating my finished works into English for now. And you can also congratulate me. I passed the final exam at the institute. Only I have to defend my thesis. Or you can not congratulate ehe. And according to the classics, I will be grateful if you point out the errors

What are Ace Attorney Characters like in the original Japanese Version?

mxearthling asked me:
hello!! i found your AA “pronoun” and honorifc post in the tag and it was really interesting!! i was wondering if you could expand on blackquill, edgeworth, and klavier in particular when it comes to how they refer to themselves/what others call them? i am INSANELY curious.

This is an interesting Question I got a while back. Now that I’ve replayed some of the games AND am playing Spirit of Justice I feel more up to try and answer it. That said, I am going to go through all Ace Attorney main characters, meaning Defense Lawyers, Detectives, Assistants and Prosecutors, and will give you a profile of how they were written in Japanese, comparing it a little to the original.

This post might be edited when I realize I misremembered something or learn something new.

That said, let’s go!

Currently on this list:

  • Phoenix Wright
  • Mia Fey
  • Maya Fey
  • Miles Edgeworth
  • Dick Gumshoe
  • Pearl Fey
  • Franziska Von Karma
  • Ema Skye
  • Kay Faraday
  • Apollo Justice
  • Trucy Wright
  • Athena Cykes
  • Klavier Gavin
  • Simon Blackquill

Phoenix Wright

Japanese Name: 成歩堂龍一(Naruhodô Ryûichi)

Japanese Name Meaning: “Naruhodô” is a pun on “Naruhodo”, a Japanese phrase akin to the English phrase “I see(what you mean).” “Ryûichi” means “Dragon”, and the ending of the name indicates that he was the firstborn son of his family. This “Dragon” is presumably what served as the inspiration for naming him “Phoenix” in the English localization.

Refers to himself as: “Boku”, a rather soft-sounding way for men to say “I”, albeit it’s still less formal than “Watashi” would be. This makes me sound younger than a professional who would be using “Watashi”, since older men tend to prefer “Watashi” in their work life. While we’re at “Boku”, contrary to what you may have heard, women *do* use it veeeeeery rarely, albeit women using this in real life are usually seen as eccentric and odd. It’s more common for women to use it in poetic writing, though. In any case, Phoenix’ “Boku” is written in Hiragana, indicating that it sounds especially soft, hinting at his generally mild-mannered personality.

Referred to by the Textboxes as: “Naruhodo”, with a short “o”, openly acknowledging the pun.

Referred to by others as: Maya, Pearl and Mia call him “Naruhodo-kun”, with the short “o”. Trials and Tribulations indicates that Phoenix tried to stop Mia from constantly cutting off the “O” in the end of his name, but she never did, so the punny nickname stuck. Larry and Edgeworth both call him by his last name, “Naruhodô”, without a honorific, which is common among male friends. Apollo and Athena correctly refer to him as “Naruhodô-san” (with the long “O”). Trucy calls him “Papa”, which explains the writing on his beanie. The Judge calls him “Naruhodô-kun”. Blackquil calls him “Naru-no-ji”.

His Speech-style: Somewhat casual, he does sound like a pretty typical, mild-mannered young man, using less polite forms when talking to Maya and more polite forms when talking to certain witnesses or the Judge. He uses the very common, polite “Desu-Masu” forms (which most people in Japan use when they’re talking to anyone other than their closest friends and family) a lot more frequently than a lot of other characters in the series.

Notes: Probably the character who carried over best in the translation. His averageness definitely helped.
