Summary:
Luka has a hard time sleeping and witnesses Rosay at dawn.
Notes:
It's been a busy week and I forgot that not only had I finished the chapter, but Liv @blueberry-macaron had already beta'd it for me! Hopefully I'll have more soon!
Luka fell into bed that night with the melody of Marinette playing in his mind. It was foolish to feel so deeply for someone he’d only just met. He’d gotten so caught up in the magic of her smile and the feel of her in his arms that he had disregarded all sense of practicality.
He couldn’t fault her for his lack of understanding, she had said she’d been apprenticed, but he had simply assumed that she would remain in town. After tossing and turning, unable to sleep, Luka gave up and slipped from his rented room to wander the town- dawn wasn’t all that far off. The fact that Marinette was leaving didn’t mean the village didn’t still have potential as a place to settle. They had musicians here- he could find a way to blend in here as a luthier and join the minstrels during festivals if they wished. And Marinette had said she expected to return for occasional visits… and she seemed like a girl worth waiting for. So he decided to spend a few days in town to get a feel for what life could be like before he made a decision.
The sun slowly rose over the forest that backed the village and Luka watched as the town slowly came to life. Cows that looked very like the ones attending last night's reverie were led through the streets and out to pasture by a sleepy-looking boy who waved to a second boy pulling a cart loaded with earthenware jars. Several doors opened and small children crowded the delivery boy for their share of milk. Luka thought back to the milk deliveries their estate received back home. He had enjoyed drinking it fresh at delivery; apparently, childhood was much the same no matter where you lived.

Glassy blue eyes stared out at him from the blanket cocoon. Not even the distance and crappy wifi could cover that up, but he wasn’t sure if it was the illness or the tears she was barely suppressing. He wasn’t sure he wanted to know.
“There will be other shows, darning,” he said, brushing his thumb across the screen like it was her forehead.
“…shut up,” she mumbled.

Last year I wanted to participate in mermay 🌊, but due to lack of free time I just could make two sketches. Back in April, I decided to finish what I started ^w^
I've always liked the idea of mermaids using mobility aids to learn to walk, it always seemed to me a bit more realistic than them being able to walk right away.
I dunno if I would make more of this AU but I'll concider it ❤️ Hope you guys like it and pardon my english.
