Hear me out:

I may be over dramatic but both 1989 and Lover have the sky as the CD art.

1989 begins with Taylor showing up in New York and it plays out from there. The story is about an unstable relationship, heartbreak, then finally becoming at peace with it’s ending.

Lover begins with a sort of continuation from the experience she had. We start out with I Forgot That You Existed, where she realizes she is clean of that person. It may not necessarily be a direct continuation, but she learned from the revelation of Clean. The album from there tells us a story about her stable, healthy, loving relationship. We even get a new setting of this story in London. Instead of ending with a song like Clean where she has moved on, she doesn’t have to move on anymore. She can start a new chapter of her life, the end of all the endings.

Now this is not to ignore the continuations from Reputation that are also shown. It just really made me think about 1989 when I opened my CD and saw the sky design.
