I keep saying that the reason why I, as an Irish person, keep reblogging American political content is because your internal politics affects not just America, but the entire world.

And I want to give you an example of that.

Over in the UK, Boris Johnson has announced his intention to renege on key points of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement that his government signed with the EU.

Part of this Withdrawal Agreement is ensuring that a "hard border", that is a walled and manned border with checkpoints, isn't erected between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The lack of a hard border is a key part of the 1997 Good Friday Agreement, a peace treaty that ended several decades of civil war in Northern Ireland.

The reason why Johnson is breaking this agreement with the EU is because he wants a trade deal with the US, a trade deal that Trump has stated he will not give to Johnson unless he removes some product safety laws.

These product safety laws are also enshrined in the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, because the EU doesn't want sub-standard products entering the EU marketplace, and the only way to avoid checks on goods for these safety standards at the Ireland/Northern Ireland border is to have the UK to continue to uphold these standards.

But Johnson so badly wants this deal with the US, in order to "prove" the UK isn't dependent on EU Trade, that he's willing to break two legally-binding international treaties.

To compound this, both Democrats and Republicans have repeatedly stated that if Johnson breaches the Good Friday Agreement, he will not get a trade deal with the US.

Because Irish Americans make up 10% of the US population, and that is a group both sides want to appeal to. And Irish Americans generally like the idea of peace on the island of Ireland.

But Johnson knows that Donald Trump is willing to go against his party, and that the Republicans will fall in line with Trump's wishes. He knows the Republicans' threat of "no trade deal if you violate the Good Friday Agreement" is a shockingly empty one.

He knows that so long as Trump is in power, he can get what he wants, even if he breaks international law in doing so.

And this is just one of many examples of how US internal politics heavily affects the internal and international politics of other nations. Like it or not, the effects of your vote go well beyond your borders.

Donald Trump is not just bad for your country, he is bad for the entire human race.

Please. Get him out.

12: Last week I arrived at Clara’s school a bit too early. I rounded the corner and bumped straight into her. Caused her to fall over, books and all.

12: She looked so angry that I panicked and couldn’t decide between “Are you okay ?” and “I’m sorry”. So I said something else...

Kate: What did you say ?

[ Cut to 12 leaning over Clara on the floor ]

When I was little I wanted to be Italian REALLT badly bc I loved the movie cars and specifically had a crush on this fucking THING

Which doesn’t speak English at all, all it’s line are in Italian and it’s name is GUIDO. And everyone knew I was obsessed with Italy in elementary school but they didn’t know why bc I, even as a young autistic child, had the sense to know this was a rightfully so, highly mockable thing. So I would read about cars on IMDB and then one day someone posted a crackfic on the message boards there and it was about this guy getting drunk and beating his wife, and it snapped me out of my fugue long enough to realize how absurd wanting to be Italian was, but then it made me cry really hard and my parents were like ‘hey what the fuck’ and I didn’t have the chutzpah to admit anything so I told them I saw a naked lady online and then they went into the computer and found all the weird south park midi songs I downloaded on lime wire and I thought they were literally going to kill me for about two weeks.

The reason I was downloading South Park episodes and songs on limewire and frostwire was because I was also obsessed with Kenny McCormick and for school we had to make a shitty little website about a world issue, so I found this free platform that doesn’t exist anymore but it was like a horrible little wix site from the mid aughts, and we based my groups theme on global warming. But when we were done with it I repurposed it as a perosnal site and lied about being a voluptuous blonde 19 year old woman who worked at a fictitious restaurant called the lunchbox, and I just wrote about how obsessed I was with Kenny McCormick and my sister found it and was like what the fuck is wrong with you. But she never told my parents. She also found this 80 page story I was writing about buddy the elf and all my weird skater ocs breaking into the moulin rouge, and at one point I was sick of buddy so I had a herd of buffalo trample him in the middle of a city and it was very tragic but jarring and unexpected. And she referenced a part of the story to me and it made me SO fucking paranoid that I wiped our entire, family shared packard bell computer and got in huge fucking trouble for it.

it’s fascinating talking about the topic of “nationalism” online because of course in a lot of western countries, being a nationalist is steeped in racism, hatred, and division

but scottish nationalism is very much because we want a more PROGRESSIVE nation, a more open nation, and whilst stuck under tory rule of the united kingdom we get the exact opposite of that

even people who are leftists but not part of the scottish independence movement don’t understand that at all

so i try to make it a point to mention scottish nationalism and the progressive nature of it because taking “all nationalism is bad and divisive” and pointing that towards scotland does a great disservice to those of us fighting for a better future for scotland and all its people, born in scotland or otherwise

I lose my mind every time I watch the call at the end of Deep Breath. How Clara’s got Eleven on the phone line but Twelve in her line of sight. How she’s trying to reconcile that the voice in her ear and the man in front of her are somehow one and the same. How he’s helping her say both hello and goodbye at the exact same time.

How right from the very beginning of Deep Breath (and even before, right from the second he was born), Twelve knows. Knows that at some point, Clara’s phone will ring, and that it will be him. Knows just how heartbroken she’ll sound. He already came into the world with the memory of Clara’s voice sounding like she’s a second away from shattering as she says, “Why? Why would you do this?”

So Twelve knows how much it hurt, both for her and for him. And then he has to live through it all again, this time from the other side. And he spends the whole episode knowing what’s still coming during every single interaction he has with her. Sits in the restaurant and probably remembers how sad she’d sounded on the phone as he goes, “If I hadn’t changed my face, would you be cross?” 

And the thing is, he‘d heard his own voice on the phone, so he knew that up until that point, Clara would be with him. But he has no idea what comes after, and now it’s like both of them are getting to see each other uncolored by the past or future. When Eleven first meets modern-day Clara, he’s thinking of the past Claras. When Clara first meets Twelve, she’s thinking of a past Doctor. And then Twelve meets Clara already knowing her future words. But by the end of Deep Breath, neither one truly knows what comes next. And, in a way, the slate’s wiped clean, and on that wet Glasgow street, they’re meeting each other for the first time all over again, except this time on an equal playing field.

At the beginning of their story, he wished one thing from her, “Please just, just see me.”.

In the end, she could see him even without looking at his face.

Wheeew, new part! These things are taking longer to get out both because I’m busy with my job, and also because the parts themselves just keep getting longer and more complicated! But hey, at least this one I finally got to try drawing Roulxs Kaard!

Okay but has MISSY TOLD TWELVE ABOUT CLARA?!?!

The Doctor has had Missy in the vault for what, a few centuries? And they have regular little chats?

Missy didn’t have her memory wiped. She doesn’t know the Doctor had his wiped. Surely she’d bring up Clara at some point, either to push his buttons or appear concerned, right?

I find it difficult to believe that the Doctor would be able to resist asking Missy about Clara once he knew she knew her. Yeah, maybe he has an inkling his memory was wiped for good reason, but this is not a man who leaves things be out of caution nor who respects his past self enough to always listen to him (just look at any multi-Doctor story). You’d think it would be like having something stuck in your teeth you can’t get out or having a word on the tip of your tongue that won’t quite come, to know you knew someone and had those adventures but never be able to quite picture who they were or what precisely they did. I’m surprised the Doctor would be able to resist.

And Missy knows plenty about Clara to tell him. Not only has she had a couple adventures with her herself, but she put them together in the first place and watched over them through “Death in Heaven”.

I need to knowwwwww…
