6 years ago, I posted my very first comic “Hair Expectations vs Reality”. Now, 6 years later, I wanted to re-draw it!

This comic will always have a special place in my heart. It reminds me of the beginning of something new and my growth over these past years, not just as an artist but as a person too. Drawing has always been my passion, my comfort, my voice. And this comic is what inspired me to start and to continue sharing that passion with you.

If you’ve been here from the very beginning, or you’ve just stumbled upon my work, I want to say thank you! I am not very good with words, but I do want to express how thankful I am for your positive comments, your support and giving me the joy of doing what I love for a living. I’m hoping that my comics will continue to make you smile and embrace simply being human. Cheers, everyone!

cant believe lemony snicket wrote “I will love you as misfortune loves orphans, as fire loves innocence, and as justice loves to sit and watch everything go wrong.” and expected me to be okay afterwards

Lemony did not, and would not ever, expect any of us to be okay.

Day 22+23

My talented friend Mercy wrote this poem detailing her experiences as a Samoan American. She can be found on IG and Twitter, and here’s a bonus link to one of her many spoken word pieces.

I know a lot of y’all have been looking for Mercy’s socials but she told me she’s keeping things on the dl. She’s still out there doing her thing but prefers to keep things private rn. Thanks for all the love on this comic!

you can’t read a few text posts on tumblr and reblog a couple pictures of black lives matters and think you’re not racist. racism is a deeply engrained part of our culture - sometimes it’s not even conscious. you have to constantly question yourself. it’s pretty hard to unlearn 400+ years of institutional racism and in order for us to properly dismantle systems of injustice, we have to stop pretending we all aren’t part of the problem.
